  1. Enrique Cruz for me. He was worse than a pitcher. He was overmatched in every AB. Cruz was awful. I don't remember much about Cruz but I can't believe there has been anyone worse than Broxton.
  2. Maybe he's got promise but Broxton is by far the worst hitting position player I've ever seen.
  3. In the Braves series, one of the Braves TV announcers made an interesting observation about Carter (don't know if it's correct, but it seemed reasonable). He said Carter basically swings on one plane and has trouble adjusting if the ball is not on that plane. When the ball is on that plane, though, watch out. I'm not totally buying that. He doesn't look like he can handle the high pitch that well but belt and below he seems fine with.
  4. Hey look bases loaded, no outs and we get nothing. Haven't seen that before. And at least put up a fight Craig. Ya, they're not going to change it but act like you give a crap.
  5. Carter is starting to look like Rickie Weeks at the plate. He's getting good pitches to hit but isn't doing anything with them.
  6. So what exactly is the logic behind bringing in a lefty who doesn't do great against righties to face the best RHB on the other team with the tying run on base? Sure, it worked but it makes no sense.
  7. I've never understood the point of the delayed steal. I remember when I played in high school and college we practiced it all the time but never once actually did it.
  8. It has to be Peralta. He has been terrible more than just this year. It goes back a full season+. I understand he's young and still has potential but he has done nothing that shows he's one of the 5 best starters on the team.
  9. Yes you can, you just can't help fighting what your mind is telling you. Why can't they be competitive while they rebuild? Maybe it's because Guerra, Davies, Anderson are the #2-4 starting pitchers. No production in CF or 2B. So are you suggesting they should have spent another $50MM+ this season on Garza/Lohse types to be "competitive" yet nowhere near the Cubs, Nationals, and other teams? What would be the point of being competitive, yet still not have a realistic chance to get to the WS and win it? The alternative is to maximize the window when they CAN have that realistic chance. How do you maximize? Get the most talent you possibly can for the players who won't be a part of that window. I really believe you know all of this, not sure why you're fighting it so hard. Unless all you want is a competitive team every year, and the WS is not your goal. If that's the case, can't say you're wrong, it's just want you want to see as a fan. He's made it pretty clear in multiple posts over the offseason that he wants to have a competitive team every year no matter what because he's old and wants to see a world series before he dies and because every year is special.
  10. Byrd played in the bandboxes in Cincinnati and Philadelphia at the end of his career. Sure, he hit more homers but his OPS+ never really deviated from his career average these last years.
  11. I was raised in a country farm house surrounded by fields and woods. Growing up we never had problems with animals in our garden or house. There was the occasional skunk or wood chuck that would come around for a little while but that was it. I've lived in the city for just over 2 years and in that time we've had our garden destroyed by deer and rabbits and it seems a brood of mice moved into the house over the winter. I caught 2 in the basement a few months ago and I've gotten 3 in the garage this week, all within 2 hours of setting the traps.
  12. At 105 pitches there's no reason to put him back out there other than "good feels" about getting a shutout.
  13. Braun would and that was my point. He could stay here and lose and be generally comfortable or waive his no trade to go somewhere else and maybe win and also maybe face scrutiny for something that happened 5 or more years ago.
  14. And the voting is a joke as always.
  15. No offense, as everyone has an opinion and yours is warranted...but you've only got 15 years to play if you're Braun. Other guys may only have 1, 2, 5, a shorter window of years to play. If you're not going to win in Milwaukee, why not go and win somewhere else? As an athlete, that's what I'd want. I can always come back to Milwaukee and sign autographs later. None taken...I think it's just a difference of opinion on the matter. I think my position really can be summed up by the reverence the Brewers organization and fans show towards Robin Yount versus what is shown towards Paul Molitor. Regardless of the reasons why he left, Molitor is somewhat shunned by the organization for lack of a better word. While Molitor is certainly viewed as a great Brewer, he will forever pale in comparison to Yount in the minds of the Brewers. No statue outside of Miller Park. Limited involvement in the organization post-retirement and pre-managerial stint in Minnesota. Sure he won two World Series in Toronto, but I would much prefer to be Yount in Milwaukee than Molitor in Milwaukee, Toronto or Minnesota. Braun might also want to stick in Milwaukee because the local media and majority of fans have moved passed his PED debacle. Going to a new city might re-open that whole can of worms especially if he fails to perform or stay healthy.
  16. Not quite on topic but can someone explain to me how Ramon Flores is on the ballot? Broxton was the opening day CF and I guess since he was sent down right after it makes sense that he isn't but why Flores over Kirk? On topic, Lucroy, Villar, and Braun are the only ones at all worthy of consideration. If Jeffress is able to rack up a bunch of saves maybe he can get in but the majority of this team has been terrible.
  17. The Brewers have seen some pretty terrible umping the last week or so.
  18. Sure they're a model franchise in terms of player development and winning but they're also model dicks with their holier than thou Cardinal Way crap. They can also apparently get away with committing federal crimes, creating a culture of alcohol related incidences, and have players avoid the domestic violence policy just because.
  19. I hate the Cardinals with every fiber of my being. Every single player and their wife and children - I hate them. My happiest day in life will be when an asteroid destroys the city of St. Louis and takes out that whole stupid franchise.
  20. Then the Sky Sox can play at Helfer Field. The offensive numbers would be the same as playing in Colorado Springs at least.
  21. I can think of a few times it's happened in recent years. There was a team (probably the Brewers) that wore them for a few games in a row because they could hit really well during BP but not during games and were hoping it was the jerseys.
  22. It's stupid that a manager has a certain number of challenges (I'm not ever sure how many or what the stipulations are because the whole process is so convoluted) but only until the 7th inning. Then it's up to the umpires to see their own mistakes (like that's going to happen) but a manager can still "suggest" that they review a play. So there are rules for number of challenges before the 7th inning but after the 7th it's basically unlimited as long as you ask nicely. Which certainly brings up another issue. If the manager has been riding an ump all game about the strike zone who's to say the ump is going to be agreeable to review a close call he made later in the game. The whole process is just terrible. I would agree with this but who's going to be responsible for choosing what to review? The umps running the show in New York? Are they going to be totally fair in choosing which plays their co-workers/brethren have botched to review or will they try and protect their profession's image?
