  1. In high school we ran the bunt and steal all the time. Stole lots of runs that way.
  2. That annoying eterial or whatever his name is isn't here. So that's a win in my book.
  3. Is Brett Wallace actually a legitimate option at 3B or are the Padres just that desperate?
  4. People are stupid. That is the answer to most questions.
  5. So like most driving situations, there are rules and then there is the reality of what happens. If you're driving the posted speed limit, you are almost certainly the slowest car on the road. If you slow down to stop when the light turns yellow, you've angered the driver behind you.
  6. The sounds like some of the excellent baseball analysis you get from 107.5 The Fan.
  7. Looks like you got your wish, Harper suspended for a game. Maybe you wanted more, but at least he was suspended. I read that a couple years ago Ian Desmond was suspended 1 game for coming onto the field after a walkoff win after he was ejected. The suspension was overturned on appeal. He didn't yell at the ump like Harper did but I would not be surprised at all if his suspension was overturned. Especially since appealing a suspension is almost a guaranteed reduction in games anyway.
  8. Can we stop with the "think of the children!" nonsense when it comes to the actions of pro athletes. Bryce got like 1 step out of the dugout when he was tossed, then came back on the field to celebrate with his teammates, and I guess said some things after the game. Fine him for criticizing the umps if you want but to suspend him as you are suggesting as a "teachable moment" is ridiculous. David Ortiz has gotten tossed on multiple occasions making a fool out of himself and he's more a face of the game than Bryce is.
  9. People talk about Perez as a short stop but he's hardly even played there. Some of it might be because there have always been better options but he just doesn't look like a short stop to me. Too tall and not athletic enough.
  10. I don't know what the rules are but the game was over so I don't see why Harper wouldn't be allowed on the field. And his ejection was crap. The ump was looking for someone to toss. You couldn't even see where he was in the dugout. How the ump had any clue who said anything is beyond me.
  11. I'd never trade a player like Trout with four years still left on his deal. The Angels could wait say two more years to see where things are and still get a ton for him. They could wait two more years and still have a terrible farm system, lots of money on the books preventing them from signing anyone worthwhile, and a below mediocre team that is only competitive because of one player. Even when they were healthy, they still didn't have a good team. Trouts value can only go down from here. It would totally suck as an Angels fan but that organization's future is as dim as it gets.
  12. Playing video game GM here but after locking up Strasburg it certainly makes Giolito a little more up for discussion. The Angels are trash top to bottom and this season is already pretty much over for them. How about a blockbuster that sends Trout to Washington for Giolito, Turner, and Robles.
  13. If we're trading Braun I want more than a folk singer from the 60's in return.
  14. He's not blocking anyone. Why get rid of him when he would either be replaced by a prospect who's hardly going to play or a veteran who won't be much better and has no future in the organization.
  15. Tradition that's why. They've always done it that way so why should they change now?
  16. Ya, he's not pitching above his head. He's just getting S's instead of H's.
  17. I know I have a box with schedules from the Brewers and other teams, probably Brewer minor league affiliates too. When I find it I'll PM you what I have.
  18. Why does he have to play only one position? The 3B and 2B in the system are still a ways off. Arcia should be the SS of the future but that is far from a guarantee. Villar is not a good enough hitter to be the owner a position on a competing team. His value is going to be that he will start almost every day and can play any infield position so you can platoon him with Scooter/Rivera/Arcia/Gatewood/Lara/Neuhaus or whatever others infielders they have.
  19. Not to change the topic but Deadliest Catch is the only "reality TV" I watch. The first few seasons were great as it was an actual documentary of people doing their job. The job created the drama and was the story. Then, I believe, Mark Burnett got involved and it became a reality show with all the interpersonal drama it has now. I'm probably one of the few people who noticed it but the cinematography changed too from wide shots and long cuts to closeups and quick shot changes. They also changed the original concept of censoring cursing with boat sound effects to the standing bleep. I still like the show but I spend a good chunk of the episodes rolling my eyes because the "drama" is so manufactured and pumped up it's ridiculous. They had a great show but for some reason they felt the need to dumb it down to standard reality TV level.
  20. I don't think Jeffress can bring back the same haul as Giles. Giles was a hyped prospect who lived up to expectations for a couple seasons. Jeffress flamed out and then finally figured it out after a couple organizations gave up on him. Giles is younger and has more years of control too. I think Jeremy can bring back a nice player or two if he's able to keep up what he's doing but not a monster haul.
  21. I would guess 95% of the show is scripted. Having said that, it's still terrible that it's a show about kids but focuses on adults acting like jackasses.
  22. I don't care why they wore them but the pink tinged uniforms are the ugliest load of crap I've ever seen and whichever marketing genius thought it up should be fired.
  23. Sounds like a cover story so the NFL can make the laughable claim that it is meaningfully testing any of its players. Except no one gives a crap about PED's in football so there's nothing to cover up. Players get suspended all the time and no one bats an eye.
  24. The NFL has warned players to avoid certain meats because they contain a banned substance. Not saying that's why guys are testing positive but it's a possibility.
  25. HBP totals mean nothing really. There's no reason for a batter to crowd the plate if he's not comfortable there. I just remember a time not that long ago that we were leading in the HBPs That was because of Weeks and Fielder and playing the Cardinals who knew they could hit as many batters as they wanted without retaliation.
