  1. If you want to stop this make the suspensions matter. By that I mean no appealing until your team plays a weak opponent and then dropping it. Any suspension 3 games or more starts immediately and the appeal happens within a day or two. With today's technology there's no reason an appeal has to take weeks to happen.
  2. He made it passed a bunch of teams the first time and anyone with a better record than Milwaukee is in contention and might not be willing to take a chance on a guy so he might make it through.
  3. Can't let facts get in the way of opinions and vendettas.
  4. This wasn't a beanball war this was one guy doing his own thing. There's not really much you can do to stop that.
  5. That is so not a rarity though. It happens way more than would make sense. I think the rarity would be coming from a Pitcher doing it. Since getting beaned would most likely happen to the Pitcher Batting's throwing arm. The only lefty throwing/righty hitting hitters I can think of are Ryan Ludwig and Rickey Henderson. I'm sure there are more but a quick search for pitchers brings Will Smith, Madison Bumgarner (the Giants have two other ones on their roster), Randy Johnson, the Braves have two, the Nats have two including Gio Gonzalez, Cory Luebky. It's not common but it's certainly not rare. It's even more less rare when you look at the right handed pitchers that bat lefty.
  6. I was scoring for a team recently that batted out of order but no one on either team caught it until an inning later. Everyone involved made an out so it really didn't make a difference but how would you score a batter batting out of order that reaches but the other team doesn't catch it. Using the Brewers as an example. 1. Villar 2. Santana 3. Braun 4. Lucroy Say Braun and Lucroy get the order messed up and Lucroy hits after Santana and gets a singe. Lucroy steals second and then Braun homers. Do those stats count for the players that did them or for the spot in the order? Also, say the other team catches it after Lucroy singles. How do you score the out and is Lucroy still up since it's now his spot in the order? And if Lucroy is up what happens to Brauns at bat?
  7. The Rays are in 5th place, 8 games out of first, 6.5 out of a wild card, and 6 games under .500. We are more in contention then they are. They have no business trading away prospects.
  8. No. All those Chicago fanboys care about is seeing their Cubbies in the All Star game. I mean, they've been huge fans for almost a full calendar year now. It's about time they get to see their team get some love.
  9. Does anyone win this deal?
  10. If this current Brewers team was competing for a World Series I don't think he'd be up yet either since Villar has been playing so well.
  11. Aren't the Brewers just 6 or 7 games out of the wild card?. The best players should be up and he is one of them. Arcia saves at least one hit a game. I have watched a majority of the Colorado Springs games and every day he is making unbelievable plays. Bring him up! They're 4.5 back and behind 4 other teams, 2 of which are clearly more talented. They're also under .500. At this point in the season that's not in contention and should no way influence whether or not Arcia is called up.
  12. I agree. Wilson Contreras is pounding the ball at AAA - hitting .300+ with an OBP over over .400. 1.001 OPS. Of course, it can't hurt to ask. The Cubbies want to give us Contreras, I'd do that. That might not be a bad idea. The Cubs can afford to resign and overpay Lucroy for the downside of his career making Contreras unneeded.
  13. Dumping Presley wouldn't help much with playing time. Braun, Santana, Broxton, and Flores are the guys who should be getting regular AB's and really Kirk has been playing well enough to stick in the lineup too. Broxton has shown absolutely nothing so far to keep him in the bigs.
  14. Very well said. And besides the media, MLB itself has perpetuated it by going so wild west in trying to catch people. The way the whole Miami scandal was investigated was very shady. It's like MLB wanted more negative attention for themselves. Even if MLB does actually care about a clean game they need it to appear that they are doing something about it because they let things get out of control in the first place.
  15. The question no one is asking is why do the Braves want him? Maybe their AA coaches aren't very good at throwing BP.
  16. The Cubs have a big hitting catcher at Triple A. I don't see them going after Lucroy even if it is only for 1 season and a half.
  17. In the media's attempt to "clean up" the game by demonizing any player who has ever even thought the word steroids in his brain, they've ruined a whole generation of players and fans. My high school kids that I coached this spring talked about baseball more than any group I've ever had before which really impressed me. However, on one bus trip I overheard them talking about their favorite players and impressive stats/records, every time followed by, "Well he's on steroids, so...". I thought the whole thing was kind of funny till someone brought up Ichiro, and it was of course followed by "He's on the roids," and a general agreement by all involved. It just then kind of hit me that PED's have been made to be such a huge deal by the media and some fans that these kids think there is zero integrity in baseball. When Ichiro (who may very well have taken PED's, I don't know for sure) is mentioned as a steroid guy, you know the issue has jumped the shark.
  18. Peralta isn't one of Stearn's "guys." The current regime has no attachment to him. I would be very disappointed if Anderson gets removed over Wily.
  19. I think what people are saying, and so far I agree with them, is that Doug was able to find a bunch of nobody's off the scrapheap who turned into serviceable major league players. While it's way too early to judge, Stearns scrapheap nobody's have so far just been nobody's.
  20. Rock was talking about him changing his arm angle to get more movement but tonight he was throwing more over the top and getting the 97, 98 instead of 94, 95. Wonder if that's intentional.
  21. Cruz was, I believe a 21 year old Rule 5 pickup. An infielder. We kept him all year, and he hit .085. He barely played. He 30 strikeouts on 71 ABs. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cruzen01.shtml He had one other AB in his career. I remember his tenure I just don't remember anything about his play other than it was bad.
  22. I don't remember the big spring but that sounds like Brad Nelson.
