  1. Carlos only had two seasons (out of 8+) where his OPS+ was much more than average. Perhaps this is the real Carlos and those two seasons were outliers. Either way, thank god Doug finally moved someone at their peak of value or else this franchise would screwed.
  2. As a starter no. As a reliever, why not? Jeffress, Thornburg, and maybe Blazek are the only guys currently in the bullpen worth anything. The rest are just veteran filler. And it's not like there's a hotbed of relievers in the minors beating on the door to get to Milwaukee.
  3. This is completely true. Couldn't agree more. Doesn't mean I don't think a rebuild wasn't in order but fans do care who they are trading away. Now the argument can be made that it won't matter once they start to win again but that's IF they start to win again. There is no guarantee. If you trade away a Braun, who believe it or not is still loved in Milwaukee, there are repercussions that follow, ie. some fans not turning the gates at Miller Park. Those people won't be going to games because the team is losing not because of who is or isn't on the team.
  4. Good thing we aren't in your day anymore. I want the right calls not the "it beat you and I'm too lazy to actually look and decide." I like getting the calls right too but I saw nothing conclusive one way or the other on replays of that slide. And the ump was right on top it. He called him out from coming off the case not because the throw beat him by so much. I'd like to hear the replay officials explanation for why he overturned the call.
  5. Ugh. Replay. In my day if a throw beats you by that much you're out. No matter how good of a slide you make.
  6. That's still probably a little too much.
  7. What's a misplay? An error, misjudging a flyball, missing the cutoff man? That part doesn't make any sense. And so what, teams give out stuff when a batter strikes out. I don't see how this is any different. And it's not like Keon is a butcher of a fielder either. It'd be different if a team was doing this every time Chuck Knoblauch made a bad throw to first base. Heck, if I was Broxton I would find this funny.
  8. How about Green Bay? Aren't they about to build a new stadium for the Bullfrogs? It's two hours from Milwaukee so I doubt they'd be taking much from Milwaukee in terms of fans and it could generate Brewer interest in northern Wisconsin where I'm assuming people never go to Brewer games because of the 3+ hour drive.
  9. Segura had a .645 OPS last week and .673 over the last two weeks. His career norms. Let's not let a hot week think anything has changed with him.
  10. Comparing Jenkins to Braun in any way seems a bit "reachy" to me... carry on. Well, Geoff was almost certainly jacked up on something and injured all the time too. So there's that...
  11. My first thought too was why didn't the Brewers coaches spot this? But Jean hasn't changed his approach at all which tells me that this hot streak is just that, a hot streak. We've seen him put together a few really good weeks before and than go back to putting up. horrible numbers. Raising or lowering your hands makes no difference when your MO is slapping at first pitch fastballs.
  12. I think someone will need a play index subscription to get the answer, but the answer is at least 34! (for a 9 inning game) because I can see there is 1 game in MLB history where both teams had 0 walks and at least 17 Ks. I thought there was a similar game last year. It may have been with 1 walk but I remember there being a game that was talked about for having so many strikeouts with so few walks. For some reason I feel like the Mets were involved. May have been extra innings too though.
  13. In the Pirates/DBacks 13-inning game, pinch hitting pitchers were 2 for 3 with Grienke and Niese each getting a hit. Shelby Miller also played an inning in left field.
  14. I like that Walsh is patient but his "approach" really isn't complicated. He won't swing until he gets to 2 strikes. I can't believe pitchers throw him anything that's not over the plate.
  15. Can we just shut down the boards for this season? It's going to suck. We all know this.
  16. Aren't we in the middle of a historically-noteworthy era of good pitching? There aren't enough major-league hitters, more likely. Sure, adding 26 more pitchers would dilute the pitching talent. Same as adding another 24 or so batters would dilute the hitting.
  17. Andy Dwyer always says that Mouserat sounds like Dave Matthews Band, however, I find that they don't at all.
  18. I'd love to ditch the leagues and go to 8 4-team divisions or 4 8-team divisions, everybody plays everybody (but favored toward intradivision opponents) , and then seed by record for whatever playoff format they chose.
  19. That his a tendon. All pitchers look like that in some form when they pitch.
  20. I'm confused about the concern of trading Wagner and getting Anderson back. Is it just because Wagner is younger? Nothing about Tyler's minor league numbers looks special.
  21. I was personally done with Segura awhile ago so I'm just glad to see him gone. Don't really care what he does elsewhere. The Brewers gave up a failed middle infielder and a possible bullpen arm for an average major league starter with control, a high upside prospect, and an overpaid veteran to play a position while not blocking any prospects. It's a win in my book no matter what happens going forward.
  22. Happens all the time. Only becomes an issue when some manager decides he wants to make it an issue. Most don't because their pitcher is doing it too.
  23. A couple nights ago in the Padres/Pirates game there was a bases loaded balk called on the Padres. The umps got together and then changed the call. Hurdle came out to argue, the umps got together and the call stood. Hurdle went back to the dugout and then came back out to argue. The umps got together again and then changed the call again back to the original call. I don't know what the correct call was but I'm pretty sure the umps blew that situation.
  24. Presley had an opt out I believe. I guess it makes sense to bring him up before that and see what he can do. If he sucks you DFA him since he very well could be gone anyway.
  25. I don't think Reed could do any worse than anyone else they've had in CF so far. If defense is a concern than Broxton should have been called back up. Would have saved the option on him too.
