  1. I was looking at his baseball-reference page literally five minutes ago. This may be the strangest Brewers season ever.
  2. The whole coaching staff should be gone at some point before the start of 2015.
  3. Maybe playing with it would make him actually swing under control.
  4. He didn't get along with the front office.
  5. Pretty much what was to be expected: not a whole lot of anything, barely even any depth added.
  6. Trevor Hoffman 600 saves t-shirt size small for sale or trade. $10 and I will pay shipping. I'm not much of a collector but make me an offer if you want to try and trade. PM me if interested.
  7. Honestly, I only care if St. Louis loses. A Brewers win is only frosting on the cake.
  8. I don't understand how he's not out there. He's in fair territory and HE RUNS INTO THE GUY WITH THE BALL. He's out. Now, if he runs into foul territory (where he's supposed to be) and runs into the 1B, there may be something there. I mean, that's like calling obstruction on a 1B who fields a bunt then tags the runner. I would agree with this except that Moss is standing in the runners way without the ball. Aybar very well could have ran in to the pitcher on purpose but Moss was still in his way. I know if I was the umpire on the field I would have called him out but after reading explanations of the rule I think they got it right.
  9. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/as-will-not-protest-thursdays-loss-to-angels?ymd=20140829&content_id=92067546&vkey=news_mlb Ok Brewerfan rulemeisters, what's the correct call here? I'm not totally up on the obstruction call (even though I have to take a test on it every year for coaching) but I think they actually got this one right. Moss was in Aybar's path without the ball. The reason he ran into the player with the ball was because he was trying to avoid Moss.
  10. The Muscle is back. The Indians signed Russel Branyan to a minor league deal. Fresh off of a 1.000+ OPS in the Mexican League, he is ready to return to punishing baseballs in the States.
  11. That's hilarious. "We don't want to be here anymore. But can we crash here for a few months?"
  12. The only teams he would have been blocked from would have been Washington and LA (and the whole AL). They're both fine at first. It's not surprising that Doug made a claim and it's not surprising a deal wasn't worked out. The Rockies think they can win next year despite being the 3rd best team in their own division. Sure, a healthy Tulo and CarGo make them somewhat of contenders but they have no pitching and no offense outside of those 3 and Arrenado. They didn't want to trade Jorge de la Rosa who's a FA after this year and Brett Anderson who doesn't know how to stay healthy and is owed a bit of money. They're right up there with the Phillies as far as clubs who have no clue what they're doing.
  13. The Mariners gave Jack Z a multi-year extension. Surprising considering he has done little to make the organization better except throw massive wads of cash at Felix Hernandez and Robinson Cano.
  14. I know. It sure looked like he was "back" when he tossed the no-no. I wonder who will replace him in the rotation? Yusmeiro Petit.
  15. Prepare for at least 3 years of posters over reacting to how good our AAA hitters are and how bad our AAA pitchers are.
  16. I'd be surprised if he made it through the whole AL and all the way to Milwaukee.
  17. What happened? I'm watching on gameday and the score went from 4-2 to 3-2. Edit: Nevermind. It just changed back to 4-2.
  18. Napoli is probably done for being a productive everyday player. It seems his degenerative hip issue is finally popping up as little issues that are keeping him out of the lineup on a somewhat regular basis. I don't think a Gallardo trade will return what most posters are hoping for but he is definitely worth more than Napoli.
  19. ...except for the whole being signed by the Red Sox thing...
  20. Sure it's raised some money that otherwise wouldn't have been donated but I guarantee you that much of the money would have gone to other charities. My guess is that most of the money this has raised would have been donated somewhere anyway. I have no doubt this has raised awareness of ALS but they are taking money of of the pockets of other charities. Money that is donated to any charity is money that could've went to a different charity, so I don't see what the problem is. Heck, the money raised for breast cancer is probably equal to all other money raised for diseases combined. What bothers me is that people get all worked about whatever the disease/cause de jour is and it's forgotten about in a few weeks. Also, this is another excuse for people to post a video of themselves on the internet saying "look at me".
  21. Short stop is starting to look more like first base in that the current options aren't anything great but any upgrades would be very costly or a lateral move at best.
  22. Doug said it would ruin team chemistry last time they were in a playoff chase. Which sounds like a bunch of bologna to me.
  23. 28 of 30 MLB managers do the same thing Ron did tonight. I don't like Ron but I fail to see how going with KRod is the inexcusable call so many are making it out to be.
  24. It makes total sense. The catcher should have the right to try to catch the ball. It's not his fault if the ball is up the line. If he has to move into the base line to catch it, so be it. That's fine, but then he should be able to get run over, and maybe he is and I don't know the new rule well. In this instance, yes, contact can be made.
