  1. but the runner on 2B does matter... Certainly, but I'd rather have Adams face Duke than Holiday face anyone.
  2. Just walk Holiday and face Adams with Duke. Holiday's run doesn't matter.
  3. Excellent analysis. Let me counter with this. LHB have a .917 OPS against Jeffress this season. LHB have a .574 OPS against Duke this season.
  4. Jeffress was at 18 pitches so likely couldn't make it through the inning And 3 lefties up in a row. Ron would be stupid to let Jeffress pitch, but then again this is Ron we're talking about.
  5. I know it's popular to bag on Braun and his thumb injury as certainly caused him to be less-than-Braun-like this year, but really? If he were to have gotten a base hit in extra innings, you'd mock him for being "anti-clutch?" Like a guy sucks if he can't dial up a homer on demand? Yes, that is literally how many posters seem to think. Hence, the word clutch being used way too often around here recently.
  6. I haven't paid any attention to ESPN is years. Are they actually covering this story the same way they did with Braun and Kobe Bryant or is it bottom line filler to avoid hurting their cash cow?
  7. Very interesting. They should probably also be concerned about how many NFL players are getting DUI's after quite possibly using their product.
  8. After seeing the whole thing from start to finish, Pap still looks like a grade A turd but Joe West looks even more like, well, Joe West. There was no reason for him to throw him out. He was done for the game and was certainly going to fined or suspended anyway. West walked all the way from the outfield (he was umping 2B) to the dugout to personally tell Papelbon he was tossed. He could have thrown him out from the field or told Sandberg that he was gone but instead decided to draw attention to himself. If that wasn't enough, as Papelbon is arguing with him he grabs him by the uniform and throws him out of the way. I will give Joe credit for simply walking away at that point but he made the situation much worse that it should have been making it all about Joe. Good that Papebon got suspended but West should be too.
  9. Clark will be on the 2015 opening day roster. By the All Star break it will be obvious he needs to be replaced, but he won't.
  10. Fined? Yes. Suspended? Absolutely! Get thrown out by an umpire? No way. That's not their job.
  11. I think a fine is justified based off of his reaction to the Marlins dugout and having to be restrained by Kranitz.
  12. If Adderall can add .300 to your OPS and is only a 25 game suspension, I'm handing it out to everyone in my clubhouse.
  13. Baltimore's Chris Davis suspended 25 games. Out until the World Series at the soonest.
  14. Too soon. Too soon for what, Logan? I'm guessing he thinks you made a pun there.
  15. I think the displeased (about everything with the NFL, not just the Rice situation) are in the extreme minority. It's the most popular sport in the US and shows no signs of decline, ratings are huge, everyone's making money, everyone's talking about it (good or bad). This will blow over shortly as the media finds something else to get people worked up about and Goodell will be commissioner until he doesn't want to be anymore.
  16. The Pirates are playing against the Cubs and The Brewers are playing the Reds. At the beginning of the season I don't think that would have made any of us optimistic about the current situation, but at this point in the season it does makes me.
  17. Both Stanton and Johnson made attempts to swing at fastballs that eventually hit them in, or nearly in, the face. How does that happen.
  18. Or it was because he was a lefty hitter facing a really good lefty pitcher and Weeks hits lefties quite well. Makes sense to me.
  19. On second thought, if you want to maintain your sanity don't watch it. Apparently the love child of Kirk Gibson and Tony La Russa is announcing for the Marlins.
  20. Anyone watch the Marlins coverage of Johnson getting hit. Their announcer said, "That's right! Let's go! That's what you need to do" as the benches empty. Real classy character there.
  21. Can you blame him. You're pissed at yourself for what happened then you hit the next guy too and all hell breaks loose.
  22. Reed Johnson was the problem with the Braves last year. Do they think that was retaliation?
