  1. Because that's not true. They won the first game 3-1.
  2. #1 - Who is saying to "bench" Braun? #2 - RBI's are not a good way to judge offensive performance. Batting average with runners in scoring position is not away to judge offensive performance? I disagree. If a guy gets all his hits with no one on the hits are useless unless someone drives him in. Yup, hits are useless unless there's a runner on base. Might as well make an out when the bases are empty, let's not waste everyone's time here.
  3. Now that you mention it, when I'm taking pictures I don't seem to notice too much of everything else that's going on. Unless the person/people sitting in front of me are preventing me from getting an angle at the action. Then, I'm just annoyed.
  4. The Rockies are not going to deal Morneau for anything other than a ridiculous package that the Brewers can't afford to give up.
  5. Agree with you. The joy of going to a Brewer game pre-actually having a good team was sitting in nearly empty sections or at least with people who are there to watch a game. Now it's college kids more interested in getting drunk and families with kids who can't stand to sit more than half an inning at a time. I may only be 27 but I'm a crotchety old dodger when it comes to my Brewer games.
  6. So Segura is your new Yuni huh? Doesn't matter how bad a player is doing as long as the team wins it doesn't matter right?
  7. Braves continue in their quest to take the sacred torch of classiness from its keepers in St. Louis. #RespectTheA http://deadspin.com/bryce-harper-drags-foot-through-a-behind-home-plate-i-1619021159
  8. They only bring up 3 or 4 each year so I will be with Schafer, Wang, Bianchi, and a pitcher.
  9. Another fun fact is those 4 teams have won a combined 3 World Series titles and each has at least made a World Series appearance. Meanwhile, the Brewers have done none of that in the same time frame.
  10. Unless the names include A-Rod or Braun, MLB and the media aren't really going to make a big deal out of this.
  11. Idiot sports fans who like to talk about sports but have no clue. Guy talking about Pablo Sandoval in the waiting room today: "He hit a shot last night to the second deck in right field (left field actually and just over the wall). Ya, Gallardo started (true, but it was off Gorzellany). The score was tied (no, Brewers were down 2) and he threw a 3-1 (it was 2-2) fastball (slider, actually) right down the middle (Maldonado tried to block it and it was probably a few inches off the ground)."
  12. Well the guy has been pretty darn good before in his career. Before his TJ he was nearly lights out and then took a couple seasons to fully recover. He's obviously pitching way above his or anyone else's head. His K rate is about career norm but he's cut his walks and homeruns by more than half and his hits by almost half.
  13. So what you're saying is he can fill our gaping holes at 1B and RP simultaneously? No. The White Sox are stretching him out and he's going to take Garza's starts until he's healthy.
  14. Adam Dunn pitched an inning for the White Sox tonight.
  15. The Dodgers may have a lot of names but they really haven't translated that into wins. Their bigger statement was promoting Javier Baez today.
  16. I'm 99.9% they won't trade him anywhere. They should have traded him last year but he's a local guy so they needlessly resigned him.
  17. If this board was surveyed, then yes it would be the Cardinals, but I could see it being the Cubs or White Sox.
  18. He also was claimed today by someone. Can't remember who.
  19. Gomez has been hit by Cardinal pitching in the last 4 games against them. Whether or not you agree with payback, this is not an acceptable trend, and it needs to be addressed. Whether that means retaliation or addressing it to the league is not up to me, but it needs to be addressed. Ok, retaliate. Hit a guy. HEre is my question, and no one will ever answer it. Do you believe that it will make the Cardinals stop hitting batters? WHich is the stated purpose, yes? Why else are you giving a free base runner? Nothing will stop them. Not Yost having Pujols beaned or Macha's strongly worded letter to Selig.
  20. As much as I hate the Cards, I don't want umpires to just start tossing guys because of a history. That takes away pitching inside and draws into question every hit batter and every pitch that causes a hitter to move his feet.
  21. Thanks for not putting that in blue, we need to keep reminding posters of this fact. Currently 6th in MLB per fangraphs. Compared to other teams we make less mistakes and take more extra bases. I love and have faith in advanced stats but I refuse to believe this.
  22. I think most of us would love to have Morneau. While I don't remember reading much rumors-wise connecting the Brewers and Morneau we really don't know how much of an effort Melvin made to get him. Reading through Rockies rumors though I think the reason Morneau wasn't traded is because the Rockies have no clue what they are doing. They think they can win and don't want to trade Tulo or Gonzalez. They don't want to trade a 40+ year old LaTroy Hawkins because they think he will help next year. They won't trade an overpaid and injured Brett Anderson or Jorge de la Rosa. I would guess Colorado is asking for an outrageous return for Morneau and that's why no one got him.
  23. I think this was the July 31 that baseball fans want to see every year. Lots of trades. Lots of players traded. And lots of big names moving around. Very fun day to be a fan.
