  1. I haven't watched any of this series but that sounds like Brewers hitters in pretty much my whole time of watching Brewers baseball. I can't think of the last Brewers hitter with a good eye. Aoki wasn't bad but he would swing at (and often foul off) pitches he had no business swinging at. Weeks, even in his prime as an OBP-machine, still wasn't a very disciplined hitter.
  2. How can a defensive player take advantage of this rule?
  3. It's early. Let's wait till the guy has played more than 13 games before we decide if he's worth $10+ million a season.
  4. This guy isn't a fan. http://thisisgettingold.net/2014/04/12/game-11-pirates-vs-brewers-recap/
  5. I'm split but more so not liking it that liking it. The whole manager challenge process is stupid where he goes and stands on the field making small talk with the ump while waiting for a signal from the dugout and the few challenges I've seen have taken way too long for what should be a quick process.
  6. Trading Ramirez and signing Morales while contending does not make any sense. It would be a downgrade offensively and defensively and I think some are really over estimating what a half season of Aram would bring back in a trade.
  7. I'm interested to see how he ages. There are/have been some rather old catchers that were productive late in their careers because of their defense like Jose Molina and Henry Blanco.
  8. Exactly. The fact that he hasn't pitched yet is ridiculous. Bring him in to face a lefty at the bottom of the order or something. Has he even warmed up?
  9. It's a viscous circle. Ron won't know how good he is until he gives up some runs. He won't give up runs until he gets into a game. He won't get into games unless it's a blow out loss. It won't be a blowout loss because the team is so good. HOW WILL WE EVER KNOW HOW GOOD HE IS IF THE TEAM IS SO GOOD!!! Ron's circu-idiot-lar logic.
  10. If he clears waivers, some team will sign him for the minimum. His bat is still better than a lot of other 2nd basemen in the league.
  11. I like talking with my fiancee about TJ surgery because she's a Physical Therapist who actually wrote a paper on it. Which is weird because she wasn't a baseball fan until we met. Point being, according to her, a normal person could probably get by with rehab of a partial tear but a professional pitcher most likely could not.
  12. Agreed. Kudos to the replay team and Ron. Who knows where the game would have gone from there if the play stood. We know now that they haven't given up on challenging. I'm not sure what you mean by quickly. I thought it took way too long for a call that obvious to the naked eye. As soon as the headphones were on it should have been changed. There should have been no discussion about safe or out. No discussion about where to put runners. The whole thing should have taken 30 seconds tops, but took a few minutes.
  13. There's a picture of him with a fan taken hours before he died. He has a big smile and looks in good spirits. It was quick whatever it was.
  14. You want to speed up the game limit the amount of times a catcher can go to the mound.
  15. You can add Brian Moran and possibly Matt Moore to the list of cheaters...err...players with an injury to their UCL requiring surgery.
  16. I was literally yelling at my TV when I saw Henderson out there.
  17. So if a guy breaks his leg, having it reset and put in a cast is considered performance enhancing?
  18. I keep hearing this spread around, but it can't happen. The Brewers cannot just work out a trade with the Pirates to circumvent the process of the Rule 5 Draft. If the Brewers want to move Wang off the 25-man roster, they MUST waive him. He then MUST clear waivers in order to be offered back to the Pirates for 25k. At that point, the Pirates are at the same place with him, that they were at before the Rule 5 draft and can keep him in the minor leagues, with no incentive to trade him to Milwaukee. The Brewers and Pirates CANNOT just simply work out a trade to cancel the Rule 5 provisions. While Wang can be traded to Pitttsburg and then BACK to Milwaukee, the rest of the league would call collusion and IT STILL wouldn't cancel the terms of the Rule 5 draftee needing to be on the 25 man roster. The ONLY way this can happen is if the player is WAIVED and NOT CLAIMED by the other 28 teams AND if Pittsburg fails to take him back for 25K, which ISN'T going to happen. I've been searching to find a source but I am almost 100% certain that is incorrect and a team just needs to work out a trade with the player's former team to put him in the minors.
  19. Yes it is a really big deal to lose the feeling in your thumb. For example if you lose the feeling in your thumb you won't know how hard you are gripping a ball which can lead to blisters and can result in other injuries to the arm, shoulder, hand, elbow, and wrist. You can also lose the feeling of your grip on other objects like a bat. This can lead to more severe problems for a baseball player resulting in a loss of power and bat speed. If my memory serves me correctly I believe Farve also had an injury similar to this and I believe it took a few years for him to recover from it. Favre seemed to recover very well. Maybe Braun can do the same thing. The risk for re-injury is much higher in football than it is in baseball. Victorino got it fixed right? Victorino got the surgery but they jury is still out if it fixed anything. Which is one of the reason's why Braun has said he's not considering surgery.
  20. So if Morales is signed after the draft, you don't owe a pick at all? (Not even a 2015 pick?) Also, why isn't this being made a larger issue? In short a 30 year old player is being semi forced out of the game (albeit temporarily) but nonetheless all becuase no one wants to give up a pick? That seems like a problem to me. If a player who is listed as a Type A (or whatever it is called today) isn't signed by opening day, that piece about giving up your pick should just go away. I really don't get why MLBPA isn't semi up in arms about this and MLB allowing him to sit unsigned. If I were him, I would not be very happy with my union nor MLB. It is being made to be a big deal. It's been discussed many times on this board. MLBTradeRumors had a post about it it seemed like every other day. There's just nothing that can be done about it until the end of the current CBA.
  21. I just finished watching the last few episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It is the best show on TV. The season finale was brilliant.
  22. Henderson is probably done. His Brewer closer clock has finally run out. Pretty much right on schedule too.
  23. For the record I have no belief in what I'm saying, I'm just putting it out there. Braun was juicing his whole career - college, minors, majors. He gets a minor thumb injury in the beginning of last year. He's playing clean now and knows he's not the same player he was before. He makes the injury out to be more than it really is and claims nerve damage is hampering his game. Braun has shown he has no problem lying to cover up his mistakes in the past so this would not be out of character for him. Once again, I don't believe this. I'm just starting the rumor.
