  1. Because he is terrible and worse than everyone the team has right now.
  2. I see no reason for Atlanta not to give him a QO next season. If he declines, they get a pick. If he accepts it, it's only a one year deal again and allows them to trade a young pitcher for a younger pitcher or fill a hole.
  3. If Duke was a position player I could very well see him being kept over Wang due to his veteran-ness and grittiness but the organization doesn't really take the same approach with pitchers. Wolf and Suppan were kept around more because of what they were being paid than anything else so I think Wang will stick around, even if they have to send someone to Pittsburgh and put Wang in the minors.
  4. In the end, the picks wind up being a wash. The Braves had the 26th pick, they gave that up for Santana. They have the 32nd pick which they got for McCann. So they moved back four spots. Next year (barring signing a QO free agent), they will have the first round pick and almost certainly get a compensation pick for losing Santana. Evens out in the end.
  5. The Braves got a comp pick for McCann so they only move back like 6 spots. For a team that is trying to win now, this makes sense. No long term financial commitment, comp pick in next year's draft, and a serviceable major league starter, Santana gets to try for a big contract again next year... A win all around.
  6. Reverse who benefits from the error and the IRS is on you quicker than stink on poo. That would bug me.
  7. Nelson was expected to not make the team out of camp, so that's not a surprise. A lot of people are pulling for Green but nothing about him screams "must have major leaguer." He's a 4A player with some positional flexibility at best. Morris has been a failure since his hyped AA season. I don't put much stock into ST stats but he's been pretty abysmal in his two ST's with a shot at a MLB job. And his AAA season in between did not do him any favors. I wouldn't be surprised if his fate is similar to Green's: a few tastes of the majors and then DFA'd and gone to another organization.
  8. In the thread last year when everyone was pumped over the signing I said there was a reason this guy had spent so much time in the minors and never gotten called up. I'm not saying I told you so but people really need to temper their expectations on players who have spent their whole career in the minors.
  9. Having the Yankees, Red Sox, Cardinals, and Mets probably ups the ticket prices in Florida. But those prices are ridiculous.
  10. Rules are rules and the Red Sox should be fined or whatever the punishment is for what they did. But the Marlins should be slapped in the face for A) jacking up prices that much and B) complaining about it. The money made by raising the prices constitutes like .01% of their income for the whole season.
  11. Since he's throwing multiple innings is he being considered as a starter?
  12. He's a veteran so he probably has the inside track on a roster spot.
  13. While it won't affect the Cardinals, when the Rams move back here to Los Angeles, as has been rumored, I will personally take great joy in those that are Cardinal/Ram fans and call themselves the "Best Fans in Baseball" losing their NFL team. ...again.
  14. Wang played professionally in Korea and was only in Rookie ball because he had surgery, so he's a bit of a unique situation.
  15. I think it was something to do with a contract being voided like what happened to Cody Scarpetta. It was discussed in the thread when the Brewers drafted him.
  16. Does anyone else really like the Brewers ST uni's this year? Is anyone else here?
  17. 2B Weeks SS Segura C Lucroy CF Gomez LF Davis, Kh 3B Reynolds 1B Overbay RF Schafer DH Green P Lohse
  18. I hear you. Unfortunately, as is the case with several annoying (to me at least) things in today's society, the media is fueling the fire. I'm sure that Mary Lou sent Ricky Nelson an invite to prom via 'snail mail' back in the day, but something tells me that isn't the sort of thing that Huntley and Brinkley would have reported on. The problem is you're expecting the media to report on something that might actually be news instead of the same social media/celebrity gossip crap they've been feeding us for years. The kids see all the attention someone else got from it and do it themselves. To build off of that, it's bugging me how often news stories ("legitimate" news stories) use social media posts as quotes from the parties involved. After the State of the Union the newspaper ran a section of Twitter posts from lawmakers for their coverage.
  19. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/adam-dunn-s-locker-got-a-makeover-while-he-was-at-the-oscars--photo-232533007.html That's pretty neat. I never even noticed him in the movie.
  20. FOX announced that Tom Verducci and Harold Reynolds will join Joe Buck for baseball coverage this year. So FOX replaces one annoying cliche-filled bag of air with another one.
  21. Van Slyke = Reynolds = Francisco = Overbay = Davis = Moreland = Smoak Every player that's been discussed here except for Billy Butler is such a minimal upgrade it isn't worth giving up anyone but a low level never-will-be to get.
  22. So apparently Punk and WWE have patched everything up and he will be back on Raw tomorrow night.
  23. I might as well ask the question that gets asked at this time almost every year: When do tickets to the 2 exhibition games at Miller Park go on sale?
  24. Giving it back would just draw more attention to himself and the Brewers. He wouldn't get any goodwill from it since the media would just spin it as an "everyone look at me and how sorry I am" moment. The best thing he can do is just go about his business like nothing ever happened.
