  1. I totally agree with us. Some posters here have the small market mentally so engrained in their minds that a player playing at or above what he's being paid is still a bad contract because he's making over 10 million and is signed for more than one year.
  2. Based on what I've seen this team do the last few seasons I am fully expecting the Mets to sweep this weekend.
  3. This could be an interesting situation. The Yankees, Rays, and Orioles are tied for the AL East lead. One of those teams is also the second wild card team. What would happen if the season finished that way? It's always been that if teams were tied for the division and the other team would be the wild card there was no playoff. Now we have three teams that are tied for the division and the second wild card. The best I can think of is that they would do a "round robin" where all three teams play each other. Does anyone know if this has been addressed yet?
  4. The Cardinals play 4 games in LA this weekend. What's the best scenario? Dodgers take 3 of 4 or sweep?
  5. Hamilton can't make it through a full season without getting hurt. Combine that with he's just leaving his prime and can't DH in the NL and I can't see any reason for the Brewers to sign him unless it's a MAJOR discount or a one or two year deal.
  6. Not sure if anyone read the little article in Sports Illustrated about the Yankees and Orioles hitting lots of homeruns. It said that this year homeruns are up and hits and walks are down, meaning that bunting is more of a bad idea than usual.
  7. Isn't Kuroda a free agent? The guy's been nothing but solid his whole career.
  8. Anyone that leaves him completely off the ballot should lose their voting privileges.
  9. I don't see how Harper can win. He'll get a lot of votes but his numbers aren't good enough. Wade Miley should win.
  10. I think the fact that it's only a two year deal says everything. Basically if they get a new stadium they'll re-up again. If not, they'll move on.
  11. You might as well just run with Mark until he breaks since history shows he will eventually. As good as he's been I can't see him having much of a long term future in Milwaukee. When he reaches free agency let him walk and let some other team deal with his injuries.
  12. Ron was the one who it took till September to realize that Casey wasn't going to figure it out last year. That's more damning than his love of bunting and getting runners thrown out on the bases.
  13. everything...
  14. Jerry Lawler collapsed during Raw tonight. My guess would be either a heart attack or a stroke and he's been taken to the hospital.
  15. Marcum's stuff was fine all season until he got hurt. It was fine all last year until the very end of the season. The reason you don't resign Marcum is because he's too much of a health risk.
  16. A lot of posters here think he will because he was "brought up too soon". I bet some GM's think the same thing. How many guy are given chance after chance in the majors because they have talent and some team thinks they can figure it out? Or how one good season out of a career of failure leads to a GM making a bad decision? I would think Gomez could bring back a back end of the rotation, youngish starter. If Washington doesn't sign Bourn this offseason they'll be looking for a CF, maybe Texas if Hamilton leaves.
  17. So for those who complain about Melvin never selling high on a player, do you trade Gomez this offseason? I personally would because I feel this year is a fluke and he's a free agent after next season anyway.
  18. When I saw he was DFA'ed a while ago my first thought was that the Brewers should claim him because he's a de los Santos.
  19. He still doesn't have a clue at the plate. He takes pitches down the middle and swings at balls at his head. It just happens the ball is running into his bat more often when he swings.
  20. I think most would agree with that but he I don't think he's played himself into an extension.
  21. He's young, plays hard, is really good, doesn't have an ego, and gets lots of media attention. He's a disgrace to the game.
  22. Classy umps tonight. They don't blow that call at home earlier in the game we could all be sleeping right now.
  23. Tom Verducci's great take on the Cubs attempt to bean Harper. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/tom_verducci/09/07/zach-britton-orioles-cubs-beanball/index.html?hpt=hp_t3
  24. Words cannot describe how much I hate Roenicke. Failed squeeze and then the stupid contact play, which ultimately wound up with the same situation if Bianchi didn't go but still.
