  1. Catchers need days off and if you want to do that by making "personal catchers" that's fine. However, based on Ron's use of Lucroy with Wolf pitching (putting Lucroy in the game after Wolf comes out) tells me that Randy refuses to let Lucroy catch him. Which seems very petty and "crybaby-ish" to me. If Lucroy can catch Gallardo and Greinke (2 elite pitchers and one potential head case) without problems, he should be able to catch Wolf.
  2. I don't think you can say the Brewers "won" the trade, but the Indians definitely lost.
  3. LaPorta's career splits vs RHP .246/.304/.421/.725 vs LHP .211/.303/.326/.629 Not much of a platoon with Gamel there and a .238/.304/.397/.701 career line won't cut it at first, especially when his defense is below average. As a hitter, he's only slightly better than Alex Gonzalez who has a career line of .247/.291/.399/690. And Alex plays a much tougher position with plus defense.
  4. It's been said many times already that Greinke rejected a trade to Milwaukee before the Marcum trade and then approved it after and because of the Marcum trade. If that is true, then yes, Marcum caused Greinke to come.
  5. It's certainly more colorful than our guy in a costume going down a slide. The colors, man. The colors. Doesn't Bernie wear a colored swim suite sometimes?
  6. Is it really any more stupid that a guy in a costume going down a slide?
  7. I wouldn't say it's uncommon. Coors Field has a grass bullpen, as well as trees, rocks, and a waterfall. Dodger stadium has a grass bullpen.
  8. Maybe Lawrie was put at second because they knew they were going to trade him all along and wanted to get as much value as possbile since a good hitting 2nd baseman is more rare and more valuable than a good hitting 3rd basemen. Just a thought.
  9. Does Lawire see any time in Milwaukee last year if he wasn't traded? Just curious. Casey's collapse would have been a reason but if Gamel wasn't given a chance I don't see why Lawrie would have gotten one.
  10. Not sure. Every game I've watched on TV this year and I went to last year had a 4-man crew.
  11. They bring players from minor league camp to games and give them random numbers in 90's. From the press box you can't exactly tell who they are. It's not that they don't know the guy, they just can't tell who he is.
  12. The Royals have Broxton. They're not competing this year and shouldn't be trading players of value for a closer.
  13. hmm, Mark McGwire has failed for a few years now and Sammy Sosa (600+ HR) might fail as well. Or were you just referencing "clean" players? (Sheffield may be "clean" because he never appeared on a "list" but that doesn't mean he didn't use. Yeah, I meant guys without the taint of steroids. I don't think Sheff gets in even if he doesn't play in the steroid era. McGwire and Sosa would both be in, easily, if they weren't tainted. Didn't Sheff admit to unknowingly using the "cream"? Maybe I'm confusing him with Bonds but I though Sheff admitted it too.
  14. Ryan Braun is already hated on the road. He won't be dealing with anything this year that he hasn't before.
  15. Really...? Really...? (See what I did there?) But seriously, while I agree it would stupid, it would make sense. Rock got involved in the Cena/Miz match last year and it would fit Miz's character perfectly to try and take the spotlight away from those two. Also, wouldn't Miz costing either of those two the match instantly make him the most hated heel in the WWE?
  16. Well this took an unexpected turn.
  17. He won't win 3 rings in the few years he has left and if he does anyone that would vote for him because of that needs to have their voting privileges taken away. Winning championships is completely irrelevant to a players value in baseball.
  18. Ramirez isn't going to bring back anything of value and I can't see many teams wanting to take the contract unless Milwaukee pays a lot of it. I don't see anyway trading him makes a net gain unless Alex Rodriguez has a serious injury early in the next two seasons.
  19. According to Baseball Reference...probably not. Hall Of Fame Statistics Player rank in (·) Black Ink Batting - 11 (216), Average HOFer ≈ 27 Gray Ink Batting - 81 (292), Average HOFer ≈ 144 Hall of Fame Monitor Batting - 120 (119), Likely HOFer ≈ 100 Hall of Fame Standards Batting - 36 (205), Average HOFer ≈ 50
  20. Does Ginnett really project to be the type of player you trade a Rickie Weeks in his prime to make room for?
  21. If Green isn't starting there really isn't much reason for him to be on the Major League team.
  22. What ever happened to the Cuban short stop they signed like 5 years ago that everyone was excited about?
  23. The only thing I got from reading that policy is that players can't post anything that MLB owns or contains anything MLB owns. I didn't see anything that might affect anything that Nyjer posts.
  24. I wasn't taking it literally I was trying to point out that Santana was much younger than Rogers is. Santana still had a few years to develop. Rogers doesn't have many, if any, developing years left. Now it's just about how to keep him healthy.
  25. Say the Greinke trade didn't happen... Would you be ok with the Brewers making this deal with Alcides?
