  1. No thanks. Given his age, service time, the over value of his position, and the lack of reliability of success for relievers there is no reason to sign him. Trade him in a year or two is what I would like to see.
  2. I saw him look once but I would hope that it was a sort of worked shoot, otherwise it was terrible.
  3. While I agree that while Myers is a good starter on their team it doesn't make him a good starter overall, they are rebuilding and need prospects. They either need to trade Myers now or leave him in the rotation. While it was a different situation, look at what we gave up for K-Rod last year. Nothing essentially. A good starter will always bring back more than a good to great reliever. I feel the biggest reason this is stupid is because they are going to lose a lot. They don't need a closer. And you can't use the experience excuse because look at what they had last year. Melancon was a nobody who had thrown about 40 innings before becoming their closer.
  4. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/02/astros-name-myers-closer-rework-vesting-option.html They have named Brett Myers their closer. Only the Astros would take one of their best starting pitchers and move him to a role that is essentially irrelevant for a team in their position. Not only is he one of their best starters, he's probably their best trade chip and his value has just been reduced dramatically unless he's traded before the season starts. Genius.
  5. An extra .350+ OBP CF? Who's the other .350 OBP+ CF? It's not Gomez, that's for sure. It may be hard to believe but last year may have been Gomez worst year offensively. Yes, he had his highest OPS of his career, but he also had the lowest AVG and OBP of his career (neither of which have ever been any good anyway). Gomez is great on defense but he is no where near the player you would trade Morgan to get him on the field more. Even if he was to platoon with Morgan or Aoki in CF, his splits are not all that much more favorable against lefties. Morgan may have trade value but unless Aoki can replace his production trading him would be a negative.
  6. The ending with Rock and Cena was pretty crap. Maybe it was because I was more interested in the Daytona 500 but I thought it was terrible. I've liked most of what Rock has done with Cena but this was bad. Also I'm not really digging Rock's constant pandering to the crowd. In his heyday he could bring down the house by just being there, now he has to tell the crowd how much he loves them and throw out some stupid catch phrase for them to chant.
  7. Wouldn't mind seeing Mitre back. He's still out there and would probably take a minor league deal.
  8. I haven't heard any of it other than "Tatoo", which I surprisingly enjoy. It's Van Halen with DLR, I don't think it can suck.
  9. I get the feeling he's done. He said during his last season in Houston that if they didn't resign him he was going to retire. Unless the Astros or maybe Rangers offer him a deal I don't see him playing again.
  10. Really? I thought it was interesting and entertaining. Add in the fact that Jim will probably have to spend more with Dwight to avoid being around her and it should be good.
  11. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/stan-musial-not-time-albert-pujols-finally-accept-222755742.html
  12. Definitely. Remember this guy? http://www.baseballnotebook.com/essay.asp?esource=e_010105.asp&topt=Top%20100%20Prospects%20NL%20Pitchers ^Not exactly the most well known prospect ranker, but I remember also reading elsewhere that he was the #1 pitching prospect in baseball after the Brewers plucked him from Atlanta. They are really just guessing. Wow. That list. 100 pitchers and only 6 of them have had a career of note (for good reasons). 26. Gavin Floyd 47. Dan Haren 49. Jonathan Broxton 65. Matt Cain 75. Chad Billingsley 93. Edwin Jackson
  13. I like that the winter weather thread is only 17 posts this year instead of the usual 17 pages.
  14. I would rather watch Yovanni Gallardo jacking homers or Ben Sheets ducking out of the way of pitches a foot outside than some one-dimensional 30-something slugger any day. I understand owners wanting to keep pitchers from the plate but I like each league having different rules. Watching pitchers hit, or at least attempt to hit, is part of the game I like a lot and would miss if it was gone.
  15. I hear people all the time say so and so car company is best because of whatever and I have no clue what they are talking about but I will say my Ford has never had any problems other than what my own stupidity has caused and my friends that have had Fords have said the same thing.
  16. In the NL Central and that ballpark he will be decent.
  17. My old Escort has finally reached the end of its usefulness to me so I'll be getting a different vehicle in the next few months. I know nothing about cars so maybe you guys can help me with my search. Basically what I'm looking for is a small SUV or large car. I don't care about looks or fancy handling. I need something with cargo space and people space and 25 mpg or better would be great. I'm looking used, ideally around $18,000 and not much over $20,000. After talking with my car guy friend he suggested the Tiguan, Escape and anything Subaro. I've done a little research myself and I kind of like the Dodge Magnum. What else do you think I should be looking at?
  18. Just read they went with Santino because Henry isn't healthy enough yet.
  19. I've heard a lot about how bad the neighborhood is. I've only been there during the day and like everyone else I've never seen a problem but if the neighborhood is really that bad shouldn't the team have moved somewhere else by now? Isn't it a risk to have one of your players robbed, stabbed, murdered, etc. walking to their car.
  20. I think you mean Diamondbacks/Rockies. Went their last year for a Brewers-Rockies game, and was extremely impressed. The ChiSox share their (very well-recieved) facility with the Dodgers, another NL West team name that starts with "D"... so jerichoholic could've meant that, too Ya, I meant Dodgers/White Sox. Not sure why I thought D-Backs.
  21. The D-Backs/White Sox facility is amazing.
  22. Does this mean Santino is in the Chamber? If so, awesome. I mean really what else could they do? No one really cares about Henry anymore so you might as well put a guy who is somewhat over in the match. Christian would be good but maybe he's not healed up yet. Just be glad it wasn't Hornswaggle.
  23. I agree it's getting old but if I was in charge the result would at least be interesting. As I see it the whole "embrace the hate" thing is not to get Kane over or even to give Cena something to do until Wrestlemania. It's setting the stage for a jumping off point when Cena loses to Rock. After Rock pins John and he sees the huge ovation Rocky gets for the win he becomes a more aggressive John Cena. Not full on heel-turn but something like Randy Orton psycho. Ryder comes back around the same time and begins a feud with John pushing him to upper card status.
  24. According to MLB Trade Rumors Milwaukee won the case with Veras and he will make $2 million this year.
