  1. What happens if they claim Jason Marquis off of waivers? Dave Bush (4-3, 2.73 ERA at AAA) becomes a FA if the Phils don't call him up by June 1. Not sure I want to go down that route, but it would be better than Parra. I had that thought today when I just happened to look at his minor league stats. If it's only for a few starts why not? Roster moves might make it difficult.
  2. Weeks is not going to the minors. If he's asked to, he should immediately ask to be traded and I would not blame him one bit.
  3. If Para starts we riot. Or something to that effect.
  4. The only shopping I think they should be doing with Greinke is house shopping in the Milwaukee area.
  5. We knew last year that Yuni was going to be the starter and stink. We hoped Izturis wasn't going to have to start but he has and stinks. While similar, they are different situations.
  6. And the guy in the costume isn't?
  7. Or they could just grab some random reliever that throws hard and ride them till they suck like they've done before with Torres, Kolb, Coffey, Turnbow, Vizcaino, Leskanic, DeJean, etc. I don't think Axford is in the category of any of those guys and his numbers are far and away superior. Of that group, only Turnbow came close to having the stuff Axford has, and he didn't have the level head that Axford has. Plus after his one good year where he topped out at 98, Turnbow was losing velocity and command. Ax man is still topping out at 98. Ax's walk per nine is up 1.6 from last year and hits per nine is up 3.6. Obviously small sample in 13 innings but it has to be concerning. I would definitely look to trade him the off season, especially if he returns to last year's numbers.
  8. I have no idea what you're talking about.

  10. I would trade Axford. He's a dime a dozen hard throwing reliever who is just coming off of a two year stretch where he could actually throw strikes. We've seen this year what happens when he can't. Finding guys like him on the scrap heap has been Melvin's bread and butter as a GM. Factor in his age and I would have no problem trading him this offseason rebuilding or not.
  11. The Brewers didn't handle JJ's situation the best, but he sucked at the end and I can't blame them for demoting him. If he would have agreed to play 3rd base the organization would be in a much better shape right now. Heck, he might be playing short stop again.
  12. I believe Wright can opt out of his contract if traded this year and I think it's safe to say he will if he is traded so the mega deal you propose wouldn't be smart for the Brewers. Even if I am wrong about that, trading basically the entire next class of pitchers for a guy who's coming off major surgery and a player in Wright (who I feel is greatly over rated) seems incredibly stupid on the Brewers end.
  13. I will eat my hat live on webcam for all of Brewerfan.net nation to witness if Josh Hamilton signs with Milwaukee. We can dream all we want but it aint gonna happen.
  14. I'm 99% sure what you are referencing occurs after he gets hit by the helmet. The ump doesn't really have time to say anything because he tosses him, is looking away for an instant, then gets hit, looks startled, and says *that*, after being hit by the helmet. This makes a huge difference, IMO, and it casts serious doubt on the storyline you are suggesting "definitely" happened. I don't understand how people can claim that it's not fair to judge Lawrie's intent based on the results while it is fair game to judge the umpire's intent with less evidence to support that case. After watching it again you are right it was after he threw his helmet. However I feel calling him "blanking kid" shows a total lack of professionalism on the umpire.
  15. Actually spending some money on someone would help. The Yankees were going to give CC whatever he asked for so I can't blame them for not signing him. It was pretty clear there was not much of a market for Fielder last year, no matter what your feelings about signing him, that was an opportunity to open the bank and spend some money. Co-Co went to Cincy for an extra $1M, that would have been a terrible contact for the Brewers but it seems that was pretty easy to match or best. If I remember correctly the Brewers outbid the Yankees for Cameron, so they've done that. Otherwise Doug and Co. have shown me nothing that they're willing to compete financially with the rich teams. Sure they've signed Aramis and Wolf but I don't think they competed with anybody for those guys. Now they have Greinke who is a great pitcher. He's young and has a history of health. I see no reason why they shouldn't break the bank for him.
  16. I think Rock was on to something and it goes back to when Carassco was with the Pirates.
  17. If you watch the home plate ump's mouth he says the words "expletive kid" to Lawrie before he even throws his helmet. This was definitely an ump trying to "teach the rookie a lesson". What Lawrie did was terrible and he should be suspended, whether his helmet hit the ump or not, but the umpire should be disciplined as well.
  18. I guess. I don't think the Brewers had any thoughts of hitting any Mets. Certainly not with Greinke on the mound.
  19. Last night on MLB Tonight they brought up some comments Mickey made about the team "coming together" after a team meeting. Albert's response was, "Mickey shouldn't have said that. I'll have to talk to him." This has Albert all over it.
  20. You're joking right? He threw his helmet into the ground and it bounced and hit the umpire. I'd like to see any person try to do that "99 times out of 100".
  21. I would guess most teams lose most of the time when they score 3 runs or less. The average runs per game a team scores is about 4.5 so in theory scoring 3 or less would greatly increase your chances of losing.
  22. Big Show makes sense. I was thinking it was going to be Lesnar, but Show makes more sense. I don't know about Show being fired being a set up though. Lauranitis didn't make the stipulation that no one could interfere, the board of directors did.
  23. If the Brewers couldn't/wouldn't pony up the money and years for Prince and C.C. (two players as good and with MUCH better track records of health), what makes anyone think that they would for Hamilton?
  24. Proven facts are great and all but unicorns are what makes sunshine.
  25. Doesn't matter how good your stuff is if you can't throw strikes. Typically stuff guys who can't throw strikes get moved to the bullpen. That's why relievers are so unpredictable.
