  1. People are totally free to make that decision and I have no problem with that. But you can't complain about the known consequences of a decision you are making. I want to watch the Brewers. Then you need to get cable. But I don't want cable. Then you can't watch the Brewers. But that's not fair!
  2. What can the teams do about it? Not sell their broadcast rights so no one can watch the games? It sucks, I agree, but I think a lot of this is that we as a society have been so used to getting things for free (usually illegally) over the internet that we don't know how to handle it when we actually have to pay for something.
  3. Why should winning a title matter? Would people here be forgiving about Braun's last contract if the Brewers won a World Series during it? I doubt it.
  4. Why are the Rays looking to trade him? They just signed Lowe to a pretty team friendly deal so unless they are getting a great return it makes zero sense for them to trade him.
  5. Mets owner Steve Cohen reportedly lost a billion dollars bailing out his friends in the Game Stop saga, and has nearly twice the wealth of the next closest MLB team ownership (his net worth is allegedly between $14-$15 billion). I don’t imagine he’s overly worried about how the contract ages. This won't cost Steve a dollar out of his own pocketbook. It's still a terrible deal. I never really paid attention to Lindor until this offseason and I figured he was some amazing, surefire Hall of Fame player until I looked at his stats. He's had one great season and a bunch of really good ones. When his defense starts to drop off this will be one of the worst contracts in baseball.
  6. One player testing positive didn't cancel anything last year or in spring training. No reason it should this year either.
  7. i disagree. Jeter could have sold the naming right to the Yankees. The Marlins could be playing in Yankee Park.
  8. Didn't think they would just give a whole conference the extra home game. I would have liked to see them play the 17th game at a neutral site without an NFL team to try out some new markets.
  9. That's what bugged me. Apparently not catching everyday was going to hurt his value. How? That makes no sense. It's not like he was going to forget how to catch playing some games at firstbase. I think if anything it would increase his value if he could show the versatility to play another position not to mention he would save some wear on his body by not catching as much which would probably extend his career and therefore his earning potential. I really don't care if he didn't care about winning, the vast majority of professional athletes don't give a rip about the final score as long as the check clears.
  10. I believe the story is the Brewers wanted to give him an extension and he wouldn't even discuss it. I don't take joy in his career free falling but I can't say that it doesn't give me a little smile. For me it's all about the Cleveland trade as I found his reasons for rejecting it flat out stupid.
  11. Sogard is one of a more than a handful of retreads that continually find major league jobs. I don't know why anyone is ever surprised when this happens. And Nico has been pretty bad in the bigs so there is plenty reason for him to be in the minors besides the supposed manipulation of collectively bargained rules.
  12. So apparently we're on the verge of another wave or surge or whatever despite having multiple vaccines and millions of people getting it everyday. Back when vaccines started being administered I posted here COVID rates would go up because people are stupid and a whole lot of them just hearing that there's a vaccine would make them go back to life as normal, whether they got it or not. Maybe that's why rates are going up. But if I understand correctly the current vaccines do a great job of minimizing the effects of the virus but there's no data that shows they actually prevent getting infected or spreading it. So basically haven't we created millions of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic spreaders? My in-laws have had both shots and they're just about back to life as normal going places and doing stuff with people. Most of my wife's patients are of the same age and have had both shots and they tell her how happy they are that they are back to doing normal things.
  13. A couple months ago I read an article about people who work at a bunch of online dating companies whose job it is was to make fake female profiles so they could weed out all the creeps, sexual predators, and people looking for prostitutes. According to the article the vast majority of female profiles on these sites are these fake ones and very few women actually use online dating sites.
  14. Agreed. It was an extremely satisfying finale. Satisfying but corny. The last 5 minutes was basically a rehash of the last 5 minutes of The Office.
  15. [sarcasm]I don't want to pay for a smartphone to go to a game. I don't want to pay for cable to watch a game. Yelich needs to come to my backyard and hit dingers so I can watch him for free![/sarcasm]
  16. Does it really make sense for the Brewers though? Cain will be getting plenty of days off just to keep him fresh, not even considering potential injuries. Take Garcia away and Taylor, Arcia, Robertson, Fischer, Mckinney or some other question mark will be getting plenty of time in the outfield. The Sox would have to be giving up something really solid for me to accept seeing any of those guys in the lineup multiple times every week.
  17. Or righties. Is there a weaker bat playing 3B in the majors? (I know someone will search this out to prove me wrong...lol) There aren't many weaker non-pitcher bats in the majors period.
  18. I hate Arcia as much as anyone but based on the current roster I don't see how this could have turned out any differently.
  19. Manford has failed at everything he's tried to do to "fix" baseball. I don't see how this can wind up any different.
  20. Do young people even watch live sports anymore? I thought it was just highlights on Twitter. Even so, the ability to watch baseball on TV is far from one of the main reasons young people aren't interested in baseball.
  21. All my married friends are married to people they met in high school or college. My wife and I were set up through a mutual acquaintance. I was doing Match or something like that for a few months before and only had one actual interaction with someone there but after exchanging a few what seemed like friendly messages she basically told me to leave her alone. So I did. I have no idea how I would meet people if I was single today.
  22. After listening to that whole interview, when he just talks baseball without trying to be funny he's fine. He spent a good five minutes talking about how pitchers had to learn how to pitch to pitchers in AA without a joke and it was one of the most interesting parts of the interview. There's certainly is going to be a generational thing with whether you like him or not. His whole schtick is pretty much the same as Uecker being self deprecating and "I was really bad at baseball". Uecker's jokes are funny the first time you hear them but when he tells the same story for the thousandth time it's not.
  23. Footnote: the image of Stan Kyles they use during the interview is my picture. [sarcasm]I received no recognition nor compensation for it.[/sarcasm]
  24. If true, that was nice of them but really stupid.
  25. Basically this will be praised because a small market team spent money and locked up their homegrown star. Of course, it will be panned in a few years because he can't hit, can't stay healthy, and is making too much money for the team to move him except to just eat the cost and flat out release him.
