  1. I'm not really going to count them as 3 until I hear something new. So far it sounds like it's one REAL big dirtbag lawyer and one massage parlor where this is all originating from. Not saying he's guilty or innocent...but I find it a bit suspicious. He did these things to 6 different women after he was given a massage, each time at the same place, this clown of a lawyer tries to get a big settlement out of him, then he speaks out and within 3 days there are 5 more women who are all claiming the same thing happened? Just the claim that he did it 6 times...and they kept welcoming him back? The story just sounds weird. And the lawyer being friends with the McNair family is fueling speculation that they're somehow involved...which doesn't make any sense to my mind, but none of this does so far. He has to be looking at a lengthy suspension at minimum no matter what happens with this right? No team is going to be trading for him anytime soon and he's said he'll never play for the Texans again.
  2. There are putting on some really solid stuff and Baker is overall one of the best heels they have.
  3. You want to see a swing that needs no work go watch Spencer Torkelson. I watched some clips of him just to compare to Mitchell and the difference is night and day.
  4. Daniel was cut a few days ago.
  5. Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa put on one of the most brutal matches, men or women, I've ever seen.
  6. They have to give away facemasks with a Brewers logo on one side and Gruber Law Offices on the other. That's a given, right?
  7. I believe he is referring to Rottino. That would make more sense.
  8. Seeing what the Saints and Bucs are doing with perfectly legal cap shenanigans this offseason why does any team ever have cap issues?
  9. Does that mean he's moved to Wisconsin? The reason he signed with Texas two years ago was because he would play in Nashville where he lives and could be with his wife and kids. So I was surprised that he resigned with Texas earlier this offseason since Nashville isn't a Rangers affiliate anymore.
  10. Besides the hundreds of guys like Urias during those 3 years who aren't good enough to stick. So is your point that Arcia really isn't that bad of a hitter because there are hundreds of guys not good enough to stick in the majors that are worse hitters than he is?
  11. [sarcasm]Then leave him on the DL until September.[/sarcasm]
  12. I agree with this. People point to Carlos Gomez and his figuring it out in his age 26-27 season as a reason to not give up on him just yet. While I can understand the point, one has nothing to do with the other. To the eye test, Arcia's defense has started to slip already and he makes the routine plays more difficult than need be. Additionally, he has made zero effort to change his approach at the plate. How many times does he have to step in the bucket and open up his entire left side when the pitch is down and away? His approach leads one to believe he thinks he is Javier Baez and he has never approached that type of production. Nothing personal to Arcia but I give Urias at least the first two months to at least show what he has as an everyday player. If Urias is still meddling, a timeshare might make sense, and see what could potentially be had on the trade market or free agency next year. The Gomez comparisons are pointless. Carlos was pretty bad his whole career, put up two really good seasons, and then was mediocre the rest. But he at least passed the eye test in terms of "this guy might be a hitter someday". At no point have I watched Arcia and thought he has the potential to do anything at the plate - terrible discipline and terrible swing. I wonder what his career path would have been had he not had that "great" offensive year in AA. I remember a lot of people here and the media fawning over him after that. He's never backed it up.
  13. I will never get behind banning the shift. It's one of the few things in baseball I actually find interesting. There's nothing like hearing announcers talk about how stupid it is and how it's going to fail and then watching the hitter hit a ground ball right to a fielder in a completely weird spot who doesn't even have to move.
  14. There is no enforcing, just honor system. Which sounds like a horrible idea.
  15. The same indications he shows every year for about 2 weeks before going back to the same free swinging ground ball machine? He's been gifted the starting SS job since he first came up and has made zero changes to his horrible approach at the plate. I don't care how old he is now or how old he was when he first came up, he's shown no improvement and yet he keeps getting a free pass for some reason. Urias has a much better minor league track record for hitting and Robertson's MLB stats are actually quite a bit better than Arcia's. There is no reason Orlando should be an everyday player at any position, especially for a team that expects to compete for a playoff spot.
  16. We've seen enough of Arcia's little league swing and noodle bat, let's give someone who at least has some sort of track record of being able to hit the ball at some point in their life a chance.
  17. The horrible family vlog crap my wife watches. Some of them are at least minimally interesting but most are incredibly irritating people trying to make their normal, mundane lives seem interesting. By far the worst is the East Family, "Former NFL Player" Andrew East and his wife olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson. Usually my wife watches these before bed so I have to hear it while I'm trying to read a book. Sorry East's, I don't give a crap about your fast food chicken sandwich taste test or your real estate advice. What probably bothers me more is that enough people watch this crap that these people can solely live off the money they make from their videos. Good for them for taking advantage of capitalism but come on consumers, this stuff is stupid.
  18. I gotta say I'd love to see the Brewers wear that one.
  19. Some swings from his last college season. Sometimes his swing is very uppercut and he drives the ball to the outfield. Sometimes it's very level and he hits line drives through the infield. I'd imagine a good number of those line drives would be outs with a wood bat and major league defense and scouting. Also, a lot of those hits looked and sounded like they weren't on the sweet spot. And his little shimmy drives the women here in Cleveland crazy.
  20. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/03/mlb-to-experiment-with-rule-changes-in-minor-leagues.html - Triple-A baseball will see the size of the bases increased from 15 inches square to 18 inches square, a deceptively minor change that could end up having a notable impact on a game. As the league’s statement reads, “the Competition Committee also expects the shorter distances between bases created by increased size to have a modest impact on the success rate of stolen base attempts and the frequency with which a batter-runner reaches base on groundballs and bunt attempts.” In addition, larger bases will also reduce the chances of collisions on the basepaths. I have no problem with this but doubt it will make one bit of difference in SB's or SB percentage. I do like it for the safety reasons but, once again, I doubt 1.5 inches on either side is going to make any difference in preventing collisions. The double base at 1B would help that. - Double-A baseball will experiment with a new rule that addresses defensive shifts, since going forward, “the defensive team must have a minimum of four players on the infield, each of whom must have both feet completely in front of the outer boundary of the infield dirt.” While shifting has been part of baseball for decades, teams have been using shifts more often and in a more elaborate fashion over the last few seasons, to the point that seeing a club deploy four or even five players in outfield for a particular batter isn’t out of the ordinary. Dumb. Just stop trying to get rid of the shift. - Step-off and pickoff moves are the primary focus of the Single-A rules changes, as in High-A ball, “pitchers are required to disengage the rubber prior to throwing to any base, with the penalty of a balk in the event the pitcher fails to comply.” This was one of the rules instituted in the Atlantic League in 2019, as noted in MLB’s statement, and the altered rule “resulted in a significant increase in stolen base attempts and an improved success rate.” So basically there is zero advantage to being a lefty pitcher anymore. I guess they want more stolen bases but this is likely to have little effect. If guys aren't running off of RHP they're not going to against LHP either. - The step-off/pickoff rules will be even more significantly changed for all Low-A leagues. If there is one or more runner on base, pitchers can only throw a maximum of two pickoffs or make two step-offs per plate appearance. The pitcher can attempt a third pickoff or step-off but the play must result in the baserunner being retired. If the runner gets back to his original base on this third pitcher try, the play is called a balk and the runner advances anyway. MLB’s statement said that the limitation could be further lowered to just a single step-off or pickoff attempt per plate appearance, seeing how the initial rule plays out. Why? More stolen bases? Speed up the game? Neither of those is going to happen because of this. - The Low-A West league will adopt on-field timers “to enforce time limits between delivery of pitches, inning breaks and pitching changes.” An even more interesting electronic element will be part of the Low-A Southeast league, as the Automatic Ball-Strike System will be used “to assist home plate umpires with calling balls and strikes, ensure a consistent strike zone is called, and determine the optimal strike zone for the system.” Good for both. Overall, though, what is the point of all this? The best take I saw somewhere else: none of this will bring new fans to the game but it's certain to push some current fans away.
  21. it's my understanding that another former brewer will be replacing jerry augustine for that regional sports network. he was a nashville sounds teammate of dillard's, and likely were on the same brewers roster from time to time. Tim as Harry Caray?
  22. Isn't that just wasting a whole year of his development though if they do that? It seems like the knock on him is that he's a slap hitter but one that hits the ball really hard. You can get away with that in college with the metal bats and inferior defenses. In the pros with a wood bat a lot of his contact is going to result in weak ground balls instead of high choppers he can beat out or linedrives through the infield. Just looked over his college stats and he put up some high OPS's but those were supported by high batting average and on base. His ISO wasn't speculator except for the year that he had an absurd number of triples. His one season in the wood bat Northwoods League (small sample alert) supports my theory. His batting average dropped a bit and his slugging cratered. I guess it's going to be his first year playing pro ball so just get him on the field but if he needs to make swing changes might as well do it now and not waste anyone's time.
  23. Very important preface: I've only seen him swing the bat once. That one swing resulted in a weak grounder to first or second. I was surprised because he looks like a big dude but his swing looked like it came from a speedy slap hitter. That sort of goes with the scouting report above. I can't imagine that is going to work in the majors. Defenses are too good and you're speed only lasts so long and can get you so far. I have no idea what changes need to be made but I would think that there will be changes made. The days of players making a career out of beating out grounders are long gone.
  24. I think he's just trying too hard to be funny. He may get better as he gets more comfortable. I definitely agree with that. When he just talked baseball he was fine but you could tell he was trying to force jokes because that's what was expected. I still don't think his best use it to be on air during a whole broadcast. Let him roam the stadium during the game and have the booth check in on him every now and then and see who he runs and have him do little skits with players like he's been doing. Tim would probably enjoy that more too than just sitting around and talking the whole game.
  25. I love Tim but listening to him for 3 hours every game would get old pretty fast. He'd be best replacing Augie for the pre and post game shows and doing some bit pieces with players here and there.
