  1. Our neighbor was telling us about her school's plan earlier tonight. Classes won't be any larger than 10 students with one teacher per class. Teacher's won't have aides and all the teacher's aides will have their own "classes" by themselves. She is a TA and she said she's not quitting but she's already looking for another job because she does not want to do that. This is really just one giant cluster. Either go on as normal with some minor modifications or just close them down.
  2. Some summer leagues in the state are wiping the game balls with disinfectant every time it leaves the field.
  3. I haven't looked over every team's 60 man roster but if they don't have their top prospects on it, then they can't be traded, and teams aren't likely to trade impact MLB'ers if there's nothing prospect wise to get in return.
  4. Jimmy was totally average-ish at best until 2017. It's possible he turned the corner, figured it out, whatever you want to call it but it's also just as likely that 2017 was his ceiling, career year, or a total fluke and would turn back into a mid-rotation starter in 2018. Still the best starter the organization has developed since Gallardo, which is an embarrassment.
  5. This is rather presumptuous of them. Odds are the COVID situation next spring isn't going to be all that much different than it is now. And they still haven't even gotten through a truncated season yet to see if they can avoid a league wide outbreak.
  6. As with everything else the last few months: there is no right answer, only answers that are varying degrees of bad. My 4 year old needs to go back to school this fall. Preschool was his first time being around kids his own age and he loved it and needs it. He's sick of being around mom, dad, and grandmas, and we are honestly sick of being around him too.
  7. I've felt that from the beginning. This thing isn't going away until there's a vaccine or an effective treatment. All the lockdowns, masks, etc. are just like the Dutch boy putting his finger in a hole in the dike. It seems like it's helping but it's not going to stop the flood that's coming unless someone fixes all the holes.
  8. Ditch the Washington part and just go with DC. I've always thought that naming teams that play there just Washington was stupid since it's so easily confused with the state of Washington.
  9. I thought you only need to have symptoms to be placed on the list too? If so, the list has gotten so long and contains so many things that even healthy people deal with everyday that it doesn't seem that hard to find a reason to put someone on the COVID DL. A player coughing or clearing his throat seems like it could be reason enough.
  10. Cam's contract seems to be totally tied to games active. That tells me they're not totally sold on him.
  11. It's very likely COVID will an issue for 2021 as well.
  12. Cam's injury was to his shoulder, I don't think he's lost any of his athleticism. The biggest issue(aside from the car accident) was a result of him playing through injuries. He sat out all last year. He's 31, I think he'll be fine. As for him not working in NE, Belichek is the master of changing his system to best suit his players and...as you said, McDaniels got the Broncos to the playoffs(where they won a game) with Tebow at QB. I thought he missed 2019 because of a foot or ankle injury? A quick look at his Wikipedia page says he injured his ankle in college and it was an issue again in 2014. Shoulder injury in 2018 that required surgery and a Lisfranc (foot) fracture last year. Plus the back thing from his car accident. Add in the damage just from the way he plays football and you have to think he's pretty beat up overall.
  13. Other countries have citizens who take their CDC and their health experts seriously. The U.S. is the only place where medical licences are seemingly handed out by Facebook and Twitter. The world wide medical community has been all over the place on this since the beginning. Not to mention all the US politicians who said to go out and live your life normally in February before condemning anyone for leaving their house just a few weeks later. No wonder people don't trust them. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/27/world/europe/coronavirus-spread-asymptomatic.html These researchers in Germany found that people with COVID could still spread it despite not showing symptoms. The WHO told them they were wrong and tried to silence them. Turns out the Germans were right. Then of course the CDC lying about masks, all the doctors saying it's dangerous to protest but not dangerous to protest this other thing that they support, and the Sweden health director saying all those countries were crazy for their lockdowns and getting the WHO to take Sweden off their COVID danger list or whatever.
  14. Maybe McDaniels has some tricks up his sleeve but I don't really see how Cam works in NE. He makes plays with his athleticism and isn't much of a passer. And with his laundry list of injuries there probably isn't much athleticism left. Pretty much the opposite of what Brady has done the last decade plus. I guess Josh made Tim Tebow look serviceable for a few games so maybe there's a chance.
  15. One thought I have about this is how will the players act in their spare time. There is a long history of professional athletes partying and carrying on while on the road. Hopefully, they will adjust their lifestyles appropriately. As an aside, I believe visiting teams stay at the Pfister. Maybe Milwaukee should start housing asymtomatic covid patients at the Pfister in hopes of decimating opponents rosters. Before I get crucified for that last comment. I know if a player on another team were to come down with covid there is a chance they could spread it to the brewers during a game and I really don't wish this disease on anybody, even a Cardinal. It was totally tongue in cheek. They won't have a choice in many places without strip clubs, night clubs, restaurants, etc., and crowd control in places that are open. One would hope the clubs will be supportive of quarantine measures so that we can actually have a season. Curfews and things like that. I believe there are basically 6 off days in the first place so there is not a whole lot of time in the first place. I think this will be a really interesting behind the scenes team dynamic. I'm sure there are plenty of 22/23 or so year old guys that are going to act like 22/23 year olds and think they're invincible and want to go out and party. Who's going to stop them? The veterans? The coaching staff? Will teams have security at the hotels making sure guys aren't going anywhere or making sure they aren't bringing individuals to their rooms?
  16. What exactly are we trying to accomplish right now? I haven't heard "flatten the curve" in months. It seems like there is no clear end game here and everyone's opinion of how things are going is dictated by their own politics.
  17. as mentioned above, the blue jays are considering buffalo, home of their class aaa affiliate. as for when the season starts in late july? mlb is hoping that the canadian government will have policies in place that allow for travel to and play in canada. Toronto should just play all their games in the US. Even if the Canadian government allows it now there's no guarantee it will be allowed the whole duration of the season. Avoid that potential mess and just play in the States.
  18. Miller Park is the only domed baseball stadium that looks like a baseball stadium on the outside because it's round. All the other ones are square.
  19. Reducing travel is probably mostly about reducing costs. I have no clue how much chartered planes cost but I'm sure it's a lot cheaper to fly Milwaukee to Kansas City than Milwaukee to LA or New York.
  20. I believe that match was during the leadup to Flair's retirement where he had to keep winning matches or be forced to retire so he was pretty much running the mid-card gauntlet.
  21. Pitching is a different animal due to the evolution of an arm over the course of a normal season so something like that wouldn't surprise me. Outfielders diving for balls, yes I expect to see that, because 99% of the players are competitors before businessmen and they got where they are by being better than the best. Pitchers maybe but everyone else...what's the difference between getting hurt during a 162 game season vs a 60 game season?
  22. I'm happy we're getting a DH, as I've thought we should have one for a long time. But, can someone explain to me how having a DH will help prevent a player from getting COVID? Seems more like something the league wanted to get implemented, so they're using COVID as a cover to get it put in place. I'm guessing it has nothing to do with COVID and is about having an abbreviated and rushed spring training. Pitchers can just focus on getting their arms ready and not worry about bunting, hitting, and baserunning practice. Also, it can be used as an "off day" since players didn't have their usual amount of ST time to get in shape.
  23. Guys, neither side wants a 2020 season. The owners don't want to lose money and the players want to stick it to the owners so they can have the upper hand in the next CBA. Stop blaming one side over the other. They both suck.
  24. And as a side effect they have created unprecedented unity in the players' union and have turned the vast majority of MLB fans against them. I really doubt that. There are more players that are fringe roster guys who I'm sure would rather be playing and receiving something more than the couple hundred bucks a week they're getting now than there are guys at the top who are set financially whether there is a season or not. As for the fans, I'm sure whatever "side" everyone was on before all this hasn't really changed. More so probably, fans are blaming both sides for idiots.
  25. I see a lot of commercials about being "quarantined" and how whatever product is being advertised can help you through it and Comedy Central is running these PSA's with comedians telling you to stay home and stay safe or whatever buzz phrase. These seem incredibly dated and irrelevant to me already.
