    I was just perusing some stats today and the Dodgers lead all of baseball in sacrifice bunts. And by a bit. Also up there are the Rockies and Nationals. All 3 teams are also in the top 10 in the league in runs scored per game. That's not meant to be any sort of promotion of bunting on my part but I just found it interesting.

    QTC in the same spot. Looks like he just started pitching in rookie ball. Can't imagine he'll get many innings there before the AFL.

    Personally, I've checked out. They're done as far as I'm concerned but 17 of their last 20 to finish are against teams that should have nothing to play for. Maybe that keeps them alive. However, they thoroughly and totally crapped the bed earlier this year when they had a stretch of what should have been easy games.

    It really is weird. He makes a two word response to a fan, and less than a day later, there's a minor social buzz about it and a t-shirt for sale commemorating it. That's the power of celebrity. More the power of today's culture where totally stupid things that happen on Twitter become a big deal.

    Eduardo Escobar should never, ever see the SS position. Moose would likely be better there defensively at this point. He's played so much SS in his career he can't be that bad. The .150 increase in OPS is probably worth it.

    I would guess the options for 2020 are going to be Arcia or a bunch of other guys that are basically the same as Arcia. Maybe the DBacks would be interested in unloading Eduardo Escobar but they're probably looking for an actual prospect or two for him.

    Looks like he was rounding 3rd and went when he was laying on the ground. I don't think it was ever shown if completely stopped. However, the home plate ump very clearly was calling time well before he scored. By high school rules, yes, an ump can stop play with runners in motion if there is an injury he deems worth stopping for. However, I'm 99% sure that's not how MLB works. Like so many things in baseball, you can be upset at Muncy for faking all you want, but the umpires let it happen. Really, it's on them. To me, it's the same as when a batter calls time as the pitcher starts his motion. He can call time all he wants, but it's up to the ump to give it to him and almost all the time they do. Then everyone gets mad at the batter when really the ump is who you should be mad at.

    https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-offense-falls-short-against-dodgers Muncy admitted to faking an injury to stop a run from scoring. Doing it is one thing. Admitting to it right after the game is another. I don't think you can or should suspend a guy for that but it's not a great look.

    The legality is highly questionable but since most of the foreign players will want to return to the US on work visas, even if they have the legal right to do so spending months trying to sort out visa issues is not good especially since MLB says they want to stay out of it. I would think it's very much legal for guys that have contracts for 2020. The league probably can't enforce anything but their MLB teams certainly could. There has to be language in every contract that says the player needs team permission to play anywhere in the offseason.

    There are rules preventing players currently signed to an organization from playing in the Mexican League so I don't see why there would be issues with the Venezuelan League. MLB has already said they aren't going to forbid players from going to Venezuela, just playing in the league.

    Running up pitch counts is kind of pointless now. SP don't pitch deep in games anyway and when you get to the bullpen most of those guys have better stuff that the starter.

    I work at our county fair, volunteer basically, the pay is minimal. There are a couple other people that work there that spend the whole week just complaining about everything and how everyone who is in charge is an idiot. I keep thinking, you are choosing to be here. If this is such a problem for you, stop showing up. In addition to that, I can't believe all the food that is thrown away from the gardening competition that could be put to much better use. It comes in as perfectly good fresh vegetables that are put out and shown and at the end of the fair they are gross and just get tossed. I've heard there is a woman who sometimes takes some to feed her horses and goats but it still seems like a huge waste to me.

    Only 2 real complaints about Craig: 1. His love affair with crappy veteran players. Although this goes back before Counsell and Stearns and is probably a league wide issue. 2. His ho-hum demeanor/expression about everything. Every time he goes to the mound to make a pitching change he looks like he has other things he would rather be doing. And while I know it probably does not make one bit of a difference it would be nice to see him lay in to an umpire every now and then. I really like last year when he finally did after losing like 1000 replay challenges in a row.

    My memory tells me Aguilar seemed to have some sort of discussion with the ump pretty much anytime he struck out looking. Not arguing but some sort of "that's not a strike" conversation. I'm quite surprised that was actually his first ejection because he seemed to complain a lot.
