  1. there you are, braun clearly K'd Actually he's the third base umpire. And I thought he wasn't allowed to umpire games for Wolf at all? They said he's not allowed to be behind home plate but otherwise it is allowed.
  2. Yeah but a third over a third of the way into the season Prince is on pace to hit 24 homeruns and less than 60 RBI's. I like the shake up.
  3. Two weeks ago. I think this is a fluke, but just read on cbs today: Brewers' Braun struggling at home: From The Sports Xchange notes: LF Ryan J. Braun continues to fare much better on the road that at home. He is batting .228 with two homers and six RBI in 23 home games, compared with .362 with six homers and 28 RBI in 33 road games. (Updated 06/09/2010). ...... Rock just announced that Zaun is having surgery and will be out for the year, which at his age may be it?......
  4. Wow, Randy Wolfe's brother is the first base umpire. Hopefully we get some favorable check swing calls tonight
  5. Yeah I think some of this is bad luck. I believe that the first two months of the season (April & May) will prove to be the worst two months of the season. It stinks to start off like that, and it is deflating for a fan, but I don't believe this team is that bad. They are going to have a win streak at some point. It hasn’t happened yet. As far as performance goes, as others have stated, I agree the bullpen has been the number one problem for the Brew Crew. How many leads have they blown in the eighth or ninth inning? At least 10, right? Going into the season, the bullpen was the least of concerns for most Brewer fans. But the relievers, particularly Hoffman, have been absolutely horrendous and dug this team into a huge rut early on. The Brewers are 24-34 right now. If the bullpen blew only five games, which is still really bad at this point in the season, they would be 29-29. If the bullpen does a decent job and closes down 8 of 10 leads, they would be 32-26 and a half game out of first place. Maybe tonight, we can win a series before it is even over.
  6. nasty is right, 3 completely dominant strikeouts in the second inning. what a breaking ball combined with the 98 mph fastball. he has been squeezed on several calls. rob dibble thinks it's because the umpire is not used to seeing such a good breaking ball. the nats announcers are gushing, so am i. WoW
  7. Anyone watching Strasburg? Man, thank god I have mlb.tv. Nats stadium is sold out for this game standing room only. The fans were ooohing and aweing every pitch and he looked remarkable in the first inning....
  8. Hellickson? Is there anything to suggest the Rays would trade Jeremy Hellickson? Isn't he the best pitcher in the minor leagues right now?
  9. I'm late here as I missed the game, but I always wonder, if you're on the fence about keeping a pitcher in vs taking him out, why not just put him into the game to start another inning with the understanding that if he gets into trouble he is on a short leash? What I'm saying is, why not bring Bush out to start the 7th inning, and if he allows a baserunner without recording an out, yank him then. Put the starter, or reliever, out there to start the following inning, see how he does, and if necessary, take him out. I would do this all the time. Unfortunately we never do it so I don't know if it makes sense.
  10. Just saw that Brewers are 1-20 when trailing after six, worst in baseball.
  11. I wonder what McGehe's trade value would be given that everyone who follows baseball knows that his success has come practically out of nowhere, and everyone from analysts to writers to fans to fantasy baseball gurus was/is predicting that he will decline to his minor league norms at some point. I think that's the other thing to keep in mind when complaining about management for not "trading high". We don't know what kind of offer the Brewers might get for him. It's no secret that he is outperforming everyone's expectations. Given that he is one of few bright spots on the team, it better be good offer to pull the trigger on any McGehe trade.
  12. 20-7 4+2+4 = 9 This is a really good team as is with the current roster. To go on a win streak, we just have to stop blowing leads in the bullpen and run into a little luck. With a fairly light schedule in June, I see this as the month to go on a run. If DD returns to the rotation, my prediction is that they will be a few games worse, but since I don't know what will happen with him I am going with a remarkable 20-7.
  13. Confused about something and interested in an explanation... How is it that Gamel is currently on the 60 day DL, but playing games in A ball? Are minor leagues exempt or something? I am just curious. Thank you.
  14. According to the JS article linked below Lucroy could get the start Tuesday. Apparently from the beginning they did not intend to start him against the Twins. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/94637789.html
  15. Does anyone have the foxtracks or whatever up on these pitches? Braddock seems to be pounding the bottom half of the strikezone and getting no love from the ump. The batter before Morneau was out strike 3.
  16. Estrada looked bad and was clearly struggling to get an out before he just barely escaped a 3 run homer by Cuddyer. He threw 21 pitches. Stetter came in for a situational at bat against a lefty and threw 6 pitches before they brought in Coffey. I think each move made sense, and none will hamper the ability to use these pitchers in tomorrows game if needed.
  17. If you take out the April 20th Pirates game (20 runs) and the April 26 game (17 runs), the Brewers average runs per game drops from 5.1 to 4.5 or 3rd best in the NL to 7th best in the NL. Other teams have high scoring anomalys too, so it's not really fair to subtract that out for the Brewers only, but even if you do, you can see that the Brewers offense still ranks in the top half.
  18. Too bad Prince can't make the fairly routine play at 1rst base without tripping over himself. Otherwise we could've been out of this inning with little or even no damage.
  19. Do you mean righty/lefty platoon? I hope not because the Brewers project to face all right handed starters for at least the next two series against the Twins and Astros. The next Lefty starter to pitch against the brewers might not be until Johan Santana three series from now.
