  1. I think I have an idea if Giannis wants to go or stay. I do not know him personally, but I have watched his behavior for a number of years. He is a very honest person, anyone disagree. I don't think he's a dishonest human being, but that doesn't mean that his feelings or mind doesn't change over the 2+ years he'll have had to decide if he wants to stay or if he wants to leave.
  2. He became and remains one of my favorite players in the NFL as a result. I believe he'd hit every FG that year...or had hit like 30 straight. Whatever it was, that FG was about as close to a lock as one can be! But not for the Vikings. Tracy Porter is also a fan favorite in Green Bay. "This ain't Detroit man! This is the Super Bowl! It's very petty, but I absolutely NEVER tire of this! Favre...5 easy yards right in front of him to get his team into the SB. The Vikings with the best RB of his generation having an All Pro year....the Saints with a very poor Run defense. What's the ONE thing that can save them? A Favre!
  3. Yeah, this is a funny analogy, but if in this scenario Giannis is the Girlfriend...nobody's suggesting the Bucks send the Warriors(just a hypothetical) all this extra stuff to help them out in addition to Giannis. Obviously the BUCKS would be receiving the items. The Bucks would get the draft picks and cap relief. Nobody's saying you go out of your way to help them with their salary cap. Take Malcom Brogdon. The Bucks didn't want to pay 22 million per year, he was leaving anyway, so we got a 1st round pick in return. You're taking this situation and you're giving them Giannis...AND throwing in all these extra things to help them that obviously wouldn't happen. Plus....you can't operate out of spite. If Giannis leave that would cripple the franchise in the near future, but it also wouldn't mean we couldn't compete again. You take as many picks as you can and hope you can hit on a couple of them.
  4. Yes, this is the only scenario I'm talking about. I wouldn't trade Giannis a year early like the Pelicans did with AD. And I don't think Giannis is asking us to. In fact, I'd bet just about anything that scenario is totally off the table. But IF he didn't sign an extension and IF he was going to leave anyway, I think it's a no-brainer. You don't just throw your hands up and give up. You try and make your team better for the future. And you probably wouldn't get much in return. The Bucks have been through this before in their franchise history with Kareem. Different circumstance, but a superstar wanted out and the Bucks got what they could and tried to salvage as much as they could.
  5. I don't recall anyone who was upset we went up and got an extremely athletic RT in the 2nd round.
  6. They offered Allen Robinson a similar contract to what the Bears gave him....he choose Chicago over the Packers and they did sign Graham...and Bennett. Neither worked out, but both were really good players immediately prior to coming to GB and Robinson has worked out well for the Bears. As for Cook, I believe the Packers offered him more than he ended up signing with the Raiders for and he turned it down in hopes of getting more money. So I don't think they've neglected the position as badly as you're suggesting. Then factor in just how awful our secondary was, the multiple misses and then need to try again there and this seems like the first year you can make a real argument that they neglected the WR'er position.
  7. There is no scenario in which Giannis leaving the Bucks leaves them in a good situation...BUT if it does indeed come to that, as crippling as it'd be for the organization, they still have an obligation to try and do what they can to build for the future. If Giannis decides to leave getting something for him is obviously better than NOT getting something for him. Refusing to trade him at that point would just be petty on their behalf. If you can get a couple 1st round picks and as you say, get rid of some bad contracts, what else should they do? Refuse so that Giannis leaves but can't go to the team he wants? You're losing him anyway and as you pointed out, either way, they're going to be bad immediately following that. That said...I'm actually pretty confident he's going to stay in Milwaukee and I understand where you're coming from. Him leaving would be absolutely brutal. And him going to Golden State with Curry and Klay in their latter years would be hard to watch.
  8. It has a very similar tone as most of the 30 for 30 "docs" that ESPN does. They're almost all slanted. They're not these strict fact based historical documentary and sure, it does seem beneath what Burns would aspire to, but I'm just watching it as entertainment.
  9. I don't think the decline was imminent. They had a young stud in Kukoc...not a guy who's going to get 30 a night, but he's just a great player to play in that role. The way he kept the ball moving and just always made smart decisions. But Jordan was 34 and Pippen was 34. Rodman was 36 and that was his last great season, but if he has Jackson and someone who can manage his ego, I think he'd have been fine for another year. The biggest argument against this though...they had to talk Phil into coming back just for that 6th year. Krause wanted him out BEFORE they even won the final title. So obviously the decline was going to come at some point, but I don't see any reason they couldn't have won a 4th straight title at the very least(especially with the lockout). And of course you're going to operate completely differently if you're trying to win another title or you're blowing the team up. So it's entirely possible they add another Ron Harper type player in free agency. Terry Porter for example...I know he went to Miami that year on a cheap deal. Krause just seemed really intent on putting his own stamp on the team. Maybe because HE didn't draft Jordan. Either way, that's a dynasty you let die on it's own and I don't think Jordan's the type of player you need to give added motivation.
  10. Nijman sounds like a guy who has a lot of upside yet. Even last year I remember them saying he probably needed two years to develop. But like you liked Conway, I thought the kid from Canada Geoff Grey would stick a couple years ago.
  11. Could you expand on that? Because I can't fathom how someone comes to that conclusion. To me he was always playing hard. The guy took a fastball to the face and stayed in the game. Never saw him not playing the game hard. This really feels like the last area of Weeks game you can question...work ethic and toughness.
  12. It also says that they haven't found any link to suggest that he knew what the money was supposed to be from or that he did anything wrong. I don't think there's any question there was some...poor decisions to say the least, that doesn't mean Favre himself was part of some level of corruption.
  13. Dirk was a Buck the same way Eli Manning was a Charger. It was simply a prearranged deal that due to some odd rules was not allowed to be announced until afterwards. The Bucks targeted Traylor, and Dirk was more than likely never on the radar whatsoever. I believe it's even more than that. I thought that Nelson went over to Germany, spent time with Dirk, had a relationship with Dirk and Dirk and his parents ONLY felt comfortable with him coming to the US if he was going to Dallas. So if the Bucks don't pick him, at least as I recall, there's every chance he doesn't even come over to the NBA for a few more years or refuses to play for the Bucks.
  14. That makes a lot of sense. I'm waiting to see how this is going to upset competitive balance and how it is going to impact the programs that don't generate significant revenues on their own. MOST Women's sports and Men's sports outside of FB and BB.
  15. Agreed. I'd imagine Jones role will change very little this year. Last year however Jamal Williams came in for full drives in relief of Jones. And again...they're trying to become a run heavy team. They're running the same(or similar) offense that the Falcons ran when they blew the SB lead, the Rams are running and the 49'ers are running. So you're always going to need a guy who can run that outside stretch and catch the ball out of the backfield. If you lose Jones, you'll still need to replace him. Dillon's merely a supplement.
  16. Wow....that is really shocking. It seemed like JT was running into 8 man boxes all the time...and you're telling me Dillion ran into twice as many of them? Doesn't mean Dillon's gonna be Henry, but as always, until these guys get a couple years in the NFL, I'm looking at the draft with an optimistic outlook. Doesn't have to be Henry, but if he can be a big bruiser who can get you 750 yards and help Jones stay healthy..great. Jamal Williams is just a guy in my opinion. I'd would have been nice if we could have gotten a WR'er, but two guys seemed to go JUST ahead of us in both the 2nd and the 3rd rounds....so...what can you do.
  17. If the story were about Aaron Rodgers there would be a lot more people from WI playing defense on this one. Do you think Rodgers is that much more popular in the state than Favre? Seems to me the Packers fans love that Aaron Rodgers is their QB...but that Favre was the more beloved player, the guy who represents their values more. But that's just the opinion I get from people I know. I don't know, I thought he had a piece of those Copper compression sleeves for your knees, ankles, etc... From what I've heard, there's no indication that Favre actually knew who this money came from. If someone is embezzling money and they go to Favre and say, "show up at a couple of events, you don't have to speak," or it's just a memorabilia deal, that probably wouldn't be out of the norm for Favre.
  18. I think we've always been this way. Think of lynch mobs back in the old days. But now...we hear a small piece of some information and we just run with it.
  19. I think it's completely backwards. Not in terms of Jordan's impact on ISO ball, but the defense. The adjustments and added emphasis to the hand check rules have allowed for wings to score much more easily since...what, 2004 than prior to that. Before that, the game was dominated by big men and Jordan's scoring was an outlier. Since then the scoring has been dominated almost primarily by wing players because the rules made it easier, not harder to score. As for the touch fouls...I think you're being more than a little harsh with Jordan on that one. He was on the recieving end of SOO many fouls that would not be called flagrant and to infer that it's not only NOT different today or that it's not even worse today I'd refer you to one Harden, James. Also...you could double team whenever you wanted when Jordan played. You just couldn't guard space. But the Dunks? I really don't see how it would have been easier for Giannis back than OTHER than more bigs played more regularly then and he'd have had an easier time getting around them. And he'd have paid a price far more often for going up.
  20. Turns out, that is exactly the case: https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/nfl-draft-2020-packers/2020/4/26/21237485/packers-gm-brian-gutekunst-2020-nfl-draft-wr-group-evaluation-explains-why-no-picks That makes plenty of sense to me. But it also means they kinda need to be aggressive in pursuing upgrades between now and at least the trade deadline. They'll have 3 more comp picks next year, so they have the ammo to get a Sanders type player. Or an OJ Howard. Just drafting a WR'er because we needed a #2 WR'er doesn't make sense....BUT, it still doesn't change the fact that they do still have that need. And I don't really think Funchess changes that. So again, I'm perfectly fine with them getting Love and the fact that LaFleur thought so highly of him that he wanted to move up...and getting another back...and a move TE(not sur why people are saying he's a FB unless the Packers have said that and I haven't seen it). But I think another reasons fans are so upset is they're used to watching guys like Randy Moss, Marshawn Lynch, Tony Gonzalez getting traded before the season and the Packers not willing to pony up enough to make that deal. I'm hoping if a player like that comes available, the Packers are willing to add them. Who knows, maybe OBJ wears out his welcome in Cleveland. More likely someone like Tyrell Williams is available after the Raiders went HEAVY on WR'ers starting with Ruggs or another team who added WR'ers ends up moving on from a veteran WR'er. But the Packers definitely still need to try and add someone who can help Rodgers now.
  21. I think they want to mirror what San Fran does and have 3 backs that could carry the load. Ride the hot hand. Lafleur said as much at one of his press conferences this offseason. Its going to be a multi year process if that's the end goal. San Francisco is just so far superior athletically to where we are, particularly on the defensive line where we have one great player in Kenny Clark and then a rotation of warm bodies. They could use their running backs interchangeably because their offensive line was so dominant in run blocking. It's great that they have a long-term vision (whether or not I agree with that vision), but it may be awhile before they really have the personnel to make it work. He's talking about having multiple RB's, not mirroring their entire system. And if you're going to count their entire DL, then you need to count both the Smith's as Edge rushers in the 3-4 are effectively the same as DE's in the 43. But LaFleur was talking about having multiple backs...nothing to do with their DL.
  22. I kinda get the feeling people are eventually going to really like the Dillon pick the best. He's the type of runner that can piled up yards. Not the type that will have a very long career, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was an All-Pro level RB for a few seasons. I'm hoping we're eventually going to really like the Love pick the most. If not, I'm not sure any of the rest of it will matter much, to tell you the truth. So much on the line with that one. That pick is obviously going to define the entire draft. But Dillon could be just about done by the time we even see much of Love. I bet most fans don't even remember that we picked Nick Collins and Terrance Murphy in the same draft as Rodgers(though obviously Murphy suffered that career ending injury). At least when you pick a QB who is going to sit for multiple years(hopefully) you get a pretty good feel by the time he's ready or going to take over if he's the guy or not. So...in that respect, I guess it's better than taking a QB when you need one like SD did with Herbert.
  23. The kid from Canada is a freak athlete as well. Pro day he was sick and had a fractured arm, but he's 6'2 and ran a 4.36 40. Maybe they have designs on moving him across to offense or maybe he just sticks where he is. But a long athlete who was one of the top UDFA's. At least according to Gil Brandt.
  24. Did you not see what happened last season? The Ravens set the NFL record for rushing yards and the 49'ers...who were up 10 late in the 4th against the Chiefs threw the ball about 9 times against us. Now if you want to ignore the Ravens because Jackson is an outlier, fine, but we're literally building the same type of offense as the 49'ers. And people are upset because we got an athletic move TE and a big back? Aaron Jones is a really nice back. I wouldn't count on him being healthy for all 16 games again and even if he is, we JUST saw the best team in the NFC dominate us by having multiple RB's available to them and using them in multiple different roles.
  25. Sorry, I really do want to like this, but I have to look at this impartially. Where is the intrigue and upside? It's Love, and that's about it. The only way this draft isn't a disaster is if Love turns out to be a Pro Bowl QB, and even if that happens, it won't be for years. Read his draft profile...and then read George Kittles. Now of course I'd never suggest he's going to be Kittle...but he's "nothing?" My god...I've never seen this type of hysteria around a draft.
