  1. Cole may be a jerk..I don't know. I remember in the AFL, Stephen Drew had no idea what all the fuss was about. He generally signed everytime something was infront of him, but for the 8 weeks of the league, it was pretty much the same 5-10 guys there every day. Stephen just didn't get why people wanted his signature, and it reminded me of the line in For Love of the Game when Billy Chapel insists kids buy the baseball cards for the gum. Most guys will sign. Most are good about it. But some don't really understand. Frankly, I would expect that after reading the Zack Greinke stories this year, most fans hopefully leave him alone.
  2. In Part IV, there's a great explanation of the terms of the 4th option year. I always thought it was an arbitrary decision by some MLB official, but now I know there are criteria.
  3. congrats bobbledude25. Now you mention one guy was a jerk...were you waiting outside by their players' exit or did you get him to sign on the field? I never understood why the AZ Fall League didn't hire security to protect the players on the way to their cars, as they get bothered by the same 10 or so autograph hounds EVERY day
  4. I haven't heard much yet. But it doesn't sound like the system has changed. The only change is the revenues. But this will not impact the Bucks' ability to be competitive.
  5. This stuff happens. Why should it be a burden to you? If Penn St is a good school, you should go there.
  6. I thought Kelly Johnson was a catcher in the minors. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else
  7. just curious, but how does Rollins' defense profile for the next few years? If Barmes is worth about $5 million, Rollins should be worth $7.5-10 million per year assuming he can still field and throw
  8. jhart05, even with the Bucks the Panthers are still the #3 hoops team in the state. I've stated for a while that Wisconsin is college hoops, not pro hoops. If you polled people who their favorite hoops team is, I would bet the poll would go Wisconsin, Marquette, UWM, and then Bucks
  9. Also, is Belliard playing still?
  10. interesting that K-Rod could net us better picks than Prince. Too bad we couldn't get Saito to waive the clause, thus adding 2 more picks. Perhaps we should just bring him back
  11. The highest I would go to keep him is 6 years, $120 million
  12. I am also really hoping that Prince improves in AA. He had a much better 2nd half. I'd love for him to start walking like he did in Rookie ball, but that may never happen. Still, let's keep moving him forward
  13. The biggest shocker was Wooten. I would think there's 100% certainty he gets taken. I like the Brock pick due to the fact that he has something nobody else in our system can match...raw power. I like the discussion of Gindl vs Hart. I've mentioned before that Hart's awful defense--along with Gindl's OBP--makes it likely a neutral switch. As for SLG stats and splits, the offensive parks in the league are in the west.
  14. kind of interesting, but we need to add a few bats. Still, we need a lot more pitching, but it's good to have some quality arms. Heck, that's not even counting guys like Hall.
  15. Nate, I really like Fiers as a prospect even though I've never seen him. But, I don't like the idea of trading a big league starting pitcher unless we have to. We need to be getting something in return. If we are clearly upgrading another position, then it makes sense. Even then, Narveson is currently one of 2 starters that is locked up beyond 2012. I'd be really worried if we trade Narvy now and lose Wolf, Marcum, and Greinke next offseason.
  16. Thornburg was overworked in college? I thought he didn't start til his last year because he was an outfielder/closer? And I'm still curious where you heard that Cody Scarpetta had Tommy John surgery. I've still never seen that anywhere except in your list. Besides that, I loved what you did.
  17. That gives us two starters in AAA. Throw in Rivas and Peralta, and it's likely our best AAA rotation ever.
  18. Topper, Ripken threw practically submarine style and it worked just fine for him. I saw Weeks play some shortstop in the AFL and I remember being impressed (the brewerfan archives will show my reactions). He has adequate range, but his arm is very strong. However, he still struggles on the backhand side, and it could get ugly on grounders to the hole.
  19. depends...Kotsay opened the year showing an inability to hit the ball out of the infield in April and May. He had one good stretch. Given that he's lousy defensively, I'm glad he's signed elsewhere and won't be with us
  20. Patrick, as you said, the Packers are a fluke. Throw in that free agency doesn't work in the NFL (and it does in MLB), and I'd say that the Rays are actually similar to the Packers.
  21. Plenty of guys hit well in the AFL. Be encouraged by it, but now let's see him produce in AA. He's an exciting prospect. Hopefully he continues to improve and starts to draw some walks
  22. Kemp plays outstanding defense in the outfield. He's arguably worth more than Prince per year, but not worth more than Pujols (at least the next few years)
  23. djoctagone, why would they want Rogers in cooler conditions than Arizona? April is the nicest month of the year here with temps in the 70s, touching the 80s. The Brewers will not do a fake injury...MLB goes after teams for that. Also, can't he be outrighted off the 40-man roster once without needing to pass through waivers? If so, that's an option
  24. Much as I like Peralta, I think a lot of people are a bit too high on him. He probably won't contribute until 2013, and probably won't be significant until 2014 or 2015. He's no Yo. I think it's more likely that Thornburg or Rogers makes an impact soon
  25. hmm, learn something new every day. I had no clue that Scarpetta had Tommy John Surgery in high school. Still holding out hope for him
