  1. wow...Wilson with a bad hop on that attempt, but as much as I want to complain about the backhand, sometimes it's necessary depending on the runner and the pace of the ball. No excuse for Fielder's throw though
  2. Big Brock into the .240's last I checked. He started off very slow, and it appears that Davis is doing the same. What's nice is to see the organization with some legitimate outfield prospects. Still, we need a couple of studs to jump on our radars. In particular, we need some high draft picks to be used on hitters, not just pitchers. One can easily tell by our lack of overall hitting that we've now had 4 pitching heavy drafts in a row.
  3. could be Stetter, Parra, McClendon, Kintzler, etc...although the first two are doubtful
  4. seriously, we have plenty of iffy-to-crappy infielders to throw at the problem. We can probably throw enough players at the problem that we'll be fine. I like the offensive potential of Felipe Lopez.
  5. Evan Anundsen making his case with Sam Narron, Rob Wooten, Taylor Green, and Logan Shafer for comeback player of the year. This is great to see! Any reports on if those workouts of two years ago have yielded increased velocity? And I nominate Taylor Green for game of the year
  6. i feel good about calling this move!!! (selfish pat on back)
  7. yes, but we have plenty of team power. We do not have plenty of runners on base. Don't forget that statheads say that OPS is flawed because it undervalues OBP and that OBP is actually more like 1.5 times more valuable than SLG
  8. I really am nervous about the pitching upgrades to the Cards. This was a huge short-term move for them, although Rasmus was a huge player to part with.
  9. To be honest, if the age difference weren't so big (34 vs 29), I'd rather have Fukudome than Hart. Fukudome is superior defensively, left-handed, and his lower OPS includes a roughly 30 point boost in OBP (which I feel this team needs more than the slg).
  10. Fukudome has been disliked by the Cubs since debuting. Seriously, he's been a pretty good outfielder offensively and is great defensively.
  11. Hall looks statistically similar to Betancourt. not sure how this would be an upgrade
  12. it's nice to see Arnett with a bit of success since he didn't have any the first time around.
  13. Felipe Lopez? Hey, it worked last time
  14. Hopefully Rickie's ok, but it would be interesting to see if we'd go with Green or Farris. Farris is the defensive whiz, but it'd be nice to add Green's bat
  15. pretty simple to me. Beltran plays CF vs lefties and plays RF vs righties.
  16. I hate high CF angles. In fact when ESPN began using the CF straight-on cam a few years ago, my friends and I overwhelmingly hated it, as it went against how our eyes had been calibrated for years.
  17. I'd also throw Mat Gamel, Lee Haydel, Logan Shafer, and Erik Komatsu on the list. Gamel because of his dramatic improvement in K:BB ratio and continued success despite an organization without a clear plan for him. The 3 outfielders because the former has come from obscurity while the latter 2 have continued thriving at higher levels.
  18. wow, great to see Anundsen turning it around. It's been much better since April, but now to go deep into a game, no walks, 9:1 GO:FO....this is huge. He was a favorite prospect to follow. We need some word on his velocity if this keeps up.
  19. Toolivebrew...so she was a singer? I've only heard of her in news headlines and on the celeb gossip shows my girlfriend watches. I kind of figured she was a pretend celeb like the Kardashians
  20. He's definitely mediocre. I used to think he was our best overall hitter about three years ago but now I fail to see his value. He does nothing well and few things average. I'd happily move him in the right deal to dramatically upgrade our defense, obp, save money, and/or upgrade at ss
  21. I didn't know there was an "up yours" gesture
  22. Hart now seems to have well below average speed and range. He never beats out grounders anymore, he rarely gets to flyballs (although this is possibly because of bad jumps because he doesn't wear contacts like he's supposed to. I'd love to unload his contract before it becomes an albatross. I think Gindl or komatsu could come close to matching his overall contributions (offensive and defensive) for a small fraction of his salary.
  23. Carroll is a righty OF in AAA. If not him, perhaps Boggs or Gindl make most sense.
  24. These fools behind the Hankook sign are some royal douchebags
  25. Any decent SS that we could get for Corey Hart? I'd love to trade him and stick Gindl in right. It'd balance the lineup (another lefty) and upgrade the defense
