  1. Gomez with a great play...sometimes he makes those look more interesting than they need to be due to poor routes. His speed often makes up for it. On that one the MLB guys noted he misjudged things and had to adjust his angle at the end.
  2. sweet live look-in to Space Coast Stadium to show Greinke!
  3. with pathetic arms in left and right for the Phillies, I'd try to take extra bags or score on every ball they field.
  4. mlb network with a good explanation as to the logic on the steal...to get runners in motion to create %**++% for Fielder. Just was a perfect pitch to throw on
  5. I was wondering why he didn't challenge Ibanez's arm while he had momentum...I prefer that over challenging Ruiz's arm. Ibanez last night was reminding me of the old days with Gonzo in left the the Dbacks
  6. darn...gotta be careful running on Ruiz. he's a very good defender
  7. Greinke with our big potential mistake...Romanski. I kept hoping for him, it's too bad we gave up on him before he ever pitched...at least he could rake!
  8. "Kintzler, who could be on his way back to the minors any day if more relief help is needed, was rewarded with his first big-league victory and a beer shower from his teammates." so it is allowed in Philly's ballpark.
  9. Rogers is really still in his spring training. I'll give him freebies til May 1st, then I want to see results and hear about velocity.
  10. I remember when Mayberry and Stanford would come to Santa Clara and I'd go watch the games. He was awful in college, and the SCU players I knew would laugh when scouts said he'd get drafted, because out pitchers throwing 83 mph could get him out. ....oh well
  11. so who will sport the lower ERA after tonight....Peralta or Ross? fun either way
  12. I like the idea of drafting pitching. Given that we have Hart, Weeks, Braun, CF options, Lucroy, Gamel, and McGehee for several seasons, I'm not worried about hitters right now. Yes, I miss rooting for stud hitters, but if we draft a bunch of pitchers early, we'll have plenty of time in the draft for hitters. Plus, we've now had 2 or 3 pitching heavy drafts in a row. It'd be nice of some of HS arms (like Hall and Lintz) start to pan out.
  13. end, most expect the Rays to be bigtime sellers at the deadline. Given the presence of Elliot Johnson (another AFL alum, and the oh-so-rare non-drafted signee out of HS) and the overall strength of their system, I would imagine they have other options. Perhaps a deal of Farris and a reliever (since they purged their pen this offseason). Who knows, they might find someone like Katin valuable due to their overall lack of power.
  14. Zobrist was a very good guy to work with/for in the AFL. He's a holy roller, which I normally support. But the holy rollers I was around in baseball tended to be all talk, little action. However, he and Stephen Drew were the two that were truly genuine. I'd love to add Zobrist, and think his best years are ahead of him.
  15. What about the Rays? Both Zobrist and Lopez can either be starting shortstops or utility players. Both are switch hitters with good OBP skills. They're both better roster options than Kotsay (soon to be our 6th OF) and Almonte (7th OF and 2nd utility IF).
  16. TheCrew07, very good post. The thing that amazes me with Fielder's defense is I rarely see his uniform dirty. When Richie Sexson was our 1st baseman, we were commenting on how many runs he saved us. Seemingly every game Richie would have his right knee covered in dirt from bending down using proper fundamentals. Fielder bends at the waist
  17. Prince is likely the worst defensive regular 1st basemen in the last 20-30 years. He has already been responsible for his infielders having at least 3 extra errors this year, directly costing us in at least 2 games. His offense is great, but Gamel's first day at 1b he likely will do better than Prince after all these years
  18. even though I'm out of state, how about a brewerfan.net tailgate. Plan it for the usual summer party, but ask everyone to bring a donation. I'm sure if you email Bill or Brian, they'll mention it on the air and you might get lots of people to stop by. This site has so many users that it I'm sure it could spread. of course, it would need to be alcohol free.
  19. I have three students that are expecting to be drafted (one has had conversations with the Brewers). I've spoken with them about the benefits to signing or going to college. One is a catcher that is thinking of going to college (Utah) since he's only recently started getting noticed. Another is a lefty that throws around 90. The last is an outfielder who supposedly may go in the top 5 rounds. All have some basic parameters for signing bonus that it would take to get them to go pro. It's good to know they've got a plan in place.
  20. I'd keep Kotteras for his ability to work the count, occasionally hit a homer, left-handedness, and his contract situation.
  21. What is tough is when 12 hoppers up the middle get through to CF...I've been quietly impressed with Yuni so far. He's showing some potential. What is annoying is that when he doesn't have a chance for the ball, he doesn't even try....kind of like Carlos Lee or Braun. The end result is the same, but our perspectives get skewed. Usually shortstops go after everything
  22. I take it this isn't MLB approved... It'd be cool except for the front. All in all, a cool idea. I hope he knows we appreciate him so far in the early going
  23. Also, keep in mind that those minor league gametrackers aren't necessarily based on computer and cameras, but by a human entering pitch location. I've seen some where it calls it a strike 3 looking but shows it way out of the zone.
  24. McGehee has been so huge for us the last two years that it makes sense to wait for him to come around...no worries there. Betancourt has been fine offensively with hitting balls hard, just right at them. I think we all want him to see more pitches as well.
