  1. Wolf is paid like a #3 pitcher, and that's what he is. So if a team has two aces, you guys don't want to pay the lesser of them like an ace because he's your #2? That logic doesn't make sense.
  2. I'm just curious, but how have Heckathorn's secondary pitches developed? He's K'ing at a slightly higher rate this year, but still not at a huge rate given his college velocity. Of course, like Arnett, Heckathorn's velocity hasn't been that high since college.
  3. so does my Beat the Streak run end because of this? I was excited I had 4 games!
  4. Mark Loretta, Marco Scutaro, David Eckstein, and many others were told they could never play SS in the majors (the first two by the brewers), and all have been fine-to-good. I still say it's time to give him a shot at SS
  5. end, don't forget that players only get a per diem on the road...not at home.
  6. well, the good news is that Fielder has gone on a ridiculous hot streak and so I can forget about this thread for a few more months.
  7. Gomez was among the worst offensive players in MLB last year. He has negative value as a starter. But he has value in certain situations...pinch runner, defensive replacement, etc. There's always a chance he could improve. He's shown some willingness to bunt this year (although most have not been good), he has been tagging linedrives (mostly into the 10th row behind the visitors dugout), and he's actually taken some close pitches. Heck, last night Gametracker showed two of his 9th innings strikes should have clearly been called balls. The tools are there, but as of now he's not living up to them and has negative value.
  8. sure would be nice to see someone from the group of Butler, Periard, Anundsen, and Wright bounce back and re-establish himself as a prospect.
  9. Gross was released in spring training. And Docluna, I was thinking the same thing...Branyan would be nice
  10. Wolf hasn't looked that bad in two starts...he just hasn't been very good. He had a good year last year and will come around.
  11. Good to see Evan back on the mound. He was fun to watch a couple years ago. Heck, this is some exciting depth that we had 4 interesting pitching prospects yesterday, with 4 more today. Gone are the days of waiting every 5th day for Nick Neugebauer while hoping that we might have an occasional JM Gold sighting
  12. I emailed them asking to make it an option to set Classic as the default. They forwarded it to the appropriate person...I hope to hear soon
  13. mlbtraderumors says Branyan could be dealt if the right deal comes along. He'd be an obvious upgrade over Kotsay's bat for a lefty power hitter.
  14. wow, great starting pitching at all levels. Great wins for 3 farm clubs. And, as others have said, we have a Wooten sighting with 1.2 IP and 4 ks...I missed him last year! Good to see the left-handed sticks have good nights in Gamel and Green.
  15. 1992casey, I'm obviously no expert, but the bat appearing to start farther in front could explain why Braun has had trouble hitting fat pitches for the last two years. He's still a deadly hitter, but he's swung through so many fat ones that he would have belted in 2008-09. I wonder if the bat is causing him to be a tick slow, especially with fastballs
  16. ha ha, I checked the search feature on the site, and sure enough I posted nearly the exact same comment about him last July. http://brewersfandemonium...tance-Swing#reply-640011 Mods, feel free to delete this (edit: replaced previous link with link directly to post --1992)
  17. I've been wondering this year, and finally time to ask. When he's awaiting a pitch, has his bat always pointed out infront of him? Most players have their bats wrapped behind their heads...or at least pointing behind them (at varying angles). But Braun's bat is pointing the direction that's normal for lefties.
  18. CheezWizHed, I was referring to 2008 when it seemed like the team was celebrating nearly every big event down the stretch with "beer showers"
  19. Ah, so that's why Arnett wasn't placed on a minor league full season roster
  20. In the jsonline blog update, Melvin is quoted as saying they can't have beer in the clubhouse...why is that? I remember hearing that the clubhouse was dry during Lopes' time, then under Ned we famously heard of players getting "beer showers" in '08. Was this a club decision, Roenicke, or a workplace safety issue?
  21. Toby, I think the most likely candidate for the 60-day DL would be Hawkins since he is still rebuilding his arm. But at the same time, I still believe nobody will go on the 60-day DL
  22. hmm...no 40 man spot cleared yet. Not sure any will be candidates for 60-day DL. If it were up to me, I'd release Kotsay and demote Gomez to 4th OF (5th when Hart returns). I wouldn't have felt it important to send Kintzler down. Kotsay just hasn't shown much at all.
  23. Gomez-Morgan is reminding me a lot of Sanchez-Podsednik. bad obp guy replaced be solid player.
  24. I don't think anyone thought Arnett was this bad. But I think many of us heard a pitcher from the Big Ten and were worried that he'd be lucky to have a career as good as Kyle Peterson.
