  1. AJAY, why not just piggyback. Gallardo with bullpen Wolf with bullpen Naveson with bullpen Davis with Suppan Bush with Parra
  2. Davis to DL? has he ever been on the DL? Who would they recall? Braddock with Suppan or Parra starting? Loe has been great. Not Waters or Wright. Perhaps Cappy?
  3. of course Nate, you can re-sign out boy Branyan for 2 years and $6 million for 1b and he'll do the same as Dunn. The problem is we need some guys that hit like Cirillo and Loretta, not all boppers.
  4. dear God. I walked away and they had Narvy at 108 pitches through 5. I figure that no way is Macha stupid enough to let him go the 6th. Macha's stupidity proved me wrong again. Okay. Last time I'll say this. Yost would not have let this happen, as Ned had 110 as a limit for pitchers most days, unless their names were Sheets and Davis and showed they deserved to occasionally go past that. His use of Gallardo these two years has been laughable, and now he's trying to ruin Narvy. I'm losing interest. Last year--beginning around June 1st--was the least fun I've had as a Brewers fan since I became a fan in '91. But this year's ineptitude has me thinking about quitting on the team again. At least in the Lopes years, the teams tried. At this point I'm convinced Macha is the worst manager in Brewers history
  5. "Not really. They were expected to be a low 80's win team so a few good weeks and they are right there." Logan, many experts had the Brewers winning the wildcard, with a few of them having us sneak away with the division. most predictions had us around 85-89 wins.
  6. 12/15. I got Youkilis, Sandoval, and Damon wrong. still pretty cool though
  7. I may stop watching until MAcha is fired. This team has to be underachieving by 10 games so far, following a season where they underachieved by at least that month
  8. man I miss Yost! He'd be ready to lay into Manny right now. This team accepts incompetence. Way to go
  9. Al, that's simply fallacious! He was far better an option than Hall last year. Last year's 3b jam: -McGehee playing 2nd base...no threat -Counsell had knee damage and should have been playing a bit less in the first half -Hall couldn't hit after April -Gamel surprised us with some walks, some good at bats, and better-than-advertised defense. The only knock was the strike three's looking that were killing his average. In a given day, Counsell was a better option. But Mat should have started 3-4 days per week. I hated how last year he would have a good day at the plate and in the field, then not see game action for 3 days.
  10. I've long wanted Weeks in CF as it's his natural position. Given the team's depth at 2b, and how we had Lopez and Counsell, I thought for sure a move to CF made sense.
  11. Best of luck to Ned. He was the best Brewers manager of my time (in my opinion), with Garner being 2nd. I'll be sure to follow the Royals a bit more now.
  12. TooLiveBrew, I agree. When did he have a shot? Last year he had some very good games offensively AND defensively, only to find himself on the bench behind Hall, Counsell, and McGehee. This year he was supposed to compete for the starting spot, but the Brewers would have been foolish to push aside McGehee after his rookie season. I don't think any of us here seriously thought he'd make the roster.
  13. To clarify, Gord projects Gindl as a mediocre starter. Contributor, but not all-star. That's a bit different from a "mediocre player"
  14. Remember, at this point in time there are no guarantees that Suppan and Davis will be on the pitching staff come September. If the Brewers are in playoff contention in late August, I would expect them to release Suppan and put a potential playoff contributor on the 25-man roster. Davis has done alright, but--as was always the problem--the walks are killing him. He may be just a 5-inning pitcher these days.
  15. Well folks, I remember things differently. I remember Yost letting relievers finish blowouts without burning other pitchers. The only times I critiqued Yost/Maddux's management of the bullpen, we seemed to find out in the post-game that the preferred pitchers were unavailable that night. Thus it was a moot point. obsessedwithbrewcrew, this threat came up last week when I mentioned it in the anti-Macha thread. But being at last night's game had me upset when we chose to put an inning on Vargas' load when Parra was cruising. That's why I created a new thread for it. I can't figure out any logic behind many of Macha's moves, as he often puts guys in situations where we're left scratching out heads and thinking, "how is this setting the player--and the team--up for success???" In fairness, Yost is probably the only manager I've ever seen that liked to let relievers pick up 3 or 4 inning saves, but the strategy seemed to make lots of sense in certain situations
  16. One of the biggest complaints I've had about Macha is his handling of the pitching staff. I absolutely loved how Yost and Maddux monitored the workloads of relievers and didn't like getting relievers up in the pen without using them. I also loved how they often let their relievers (multi-inning guys) like Villanueva go 2-4 innings at the end of games if they were pitching well and efficiently. Once again, Macha chose to burn an extra pitcher last night when he brought in Claudio Vargas. Up so much in the scorebook that it couldn't be considered sound strategy, I was hoping he'd let Parra finish the game. Manny likely will move back to the rotation next year...so why not let him work 2+ innings whenever we can. By working 2 innings, he likely isn't available today...so why didn't they let him finish the game? The double-switch/pinch hit excuse just doesn't fly in last night's scenario
  17. they didn't announce it at the game, but I turned to my buddy and said, "wait, he already had the single, homer, and triple, right? Did we just witness someone hitting for the cycle?"
  18. I'm just glad Inglett is not in there. He runs ridiculously slow!!! I was shocked he didn't score last night
  19. brewcrew...public courses better than Brown Deer in SE Wisconsin... The Bog, Nagawaukee, Washington County GC, Kenosha Brightondale, The Broadlands, Morningstar Golf Club, Fire Ridge, and--arguably--Oakwood. I haven't lived in the area since I went off to college in 1999, but those are the ones off the top of my head.
  20. The only issue is...why such an iffy course? There's probably 30 courses better than Brown Deer in Southeastern Wisconsin. Oh well, like the idea!
  21. One complaint I've long had with Macha is how he burns extra relievers. Yost was one of the first I'd seen to allow relievers to go more than one inning based on their previous inning AND game situation. For instance, up big with a starter at 100 pitches through 6, we should not take the Macha approach and have three relievers loosen and get into the game. Instead we should have one reliever throw the 3 innings, save the bullpen, and limit the variability caused when teams change the momentum and bring in new pitchers.
  22. They announced the other day that he's going to have one more appearance with Brevard, then head to AAA.
