  1. just curious, as I'm normally an optimist...but why is Erik Miller playing in A when there are guys with futures in baseball sitting waiting for Helena? Heck, Krieger would have been a useful bat in Appleton this year, rather than splitting it between being a backing and EST.
  2. derflotr, we have not heard that. We've just heard that for this season, he'll be relieving to keep his head in games
  3. they have a DH to rotate people around
  4. the good news is that with Wisconsin getting some offensive upgrades, this lineup might now be able to help the talented pitching staff relax.
  5. gene, it appears that way. Still, while Jones' peripherals aren't doing great, at least he's been effective this year.
  6. Yost was high on his power in spring training games, but Macha probably doesn't know he exists
  7. I'm a bit puzzled X. I know statistically that McGehee isn't good at 3rd. Yet when I watch games on tv he's our only infielder making both the routine and the difficult plays. He throws to 2nd better than just about any 3rd baseman I remember, and he makes good throws to 1st most the time. It's not his fault that Fielder turns several outs into throwing errors each year. Perhaps his range isn't off the charts...but I'm comfortable with the ball being hit his way, which is something I can't say about Weeks and Fielder
  8. I was glad to see Tom Haudricourt stating what I've said. Davis' OBP is very good, indicating that he hasn't struggled that much. Having said that, it might benefit him to put up some huge numbers in Wisconsin
  9. Mass, that would seem to indicate that we'll be bumping some players to AAA in the next 3 weeks
  10. Davis had done alright in terms of OBP, but it could be huge for him to get away from that offensive blackhole
  11. Keep in mind that we now have a DSL team. That means we probably have 30 fewer Latin players in the US, if not more. We now need to fill 2 Rookie ball squads, whereas in the past it was more like 1.
  12. The one ticket I got, they doubled the fine but cut the points in half. The frustrating part was that it became $310 and 2 points for simply going 11 over. Damn you Elkhorn speedtrap...why didn't you catch the red pickup truck that was passing me!!! Can you tell I'm still bitter, a mere 13 years later!
  13. Escobar just needs to start swinging at pitches only in the zone. But Kotteras has been odd. He was very patient early in the year, only swinging at good pitches (often making good contact). Is there a new book on him?
  14. Al, McGehee was the 2nd baseman until Lopez was acquired. Gamel was behind Counsell and Hall.
  15. theavrock, the whole group looked very rowdy. I was shocked to see that behavior at Miller Park, except from the Happy Youngster
  16. time for Hart to hit a HR, since it seems all of his homers put us ahead or tie the score
  17. I love Manny Parra's incorporation of the Rick Peterson/Oakland A's pitching motion. If you haven't noticed, he and Gallardo are both doing the classic A's "big 3" where they raise their hands at the same time they raise the knee. It's supposed to be a timing thing. I'm glad Manny dropped the Cal Eldred-style over-the-head windup
  18. I for one don't think Fielder's value has dropped at all. Look at his achievements thus far in his young life. He's had a very good career thus far, and it will only get better. I do believe he is hurting the team this year, and I wish Macha would find the time to give both him and Braun a few days off. We've all struggled in sports, and sometimes the best thing to get over those slumps is to clear your mind for a few days. I know it worked for me in golf.
  19. Yep, being stuck on the bench behind Billy "I once was good" Hall and Craig "I shouldn't play more than three times a week cause my knee if torn" Counsell. It was illogical, especially when Mat would have a good game or two, then sit for 4 days.
  20. Peavey, you mean the breaking ball that got the corner? Gameday showed it was clearly a strike. Looked good in real time. Actually, he should have called the second ball a strike, too. The pitch was in the zone for sure, he just missed his target by a foot. Rough game. Prince is in an awful funk where he isn't driving anything. Soft fly balls, poor strikeouts, or weak groundouts. Nothing is being driven
  21. lcbj68c, I can't remember, but I think the drive from LA/Anaheim to San Fran/Oakland was roughly 5 hours in great traffic. Not really worth commuting. If you wanna check out parks and kid-friendly attractions, stay in the LA (and Anaheim) or San Diego area. You've got 3 baseball stadiums to check out plus all the attractions within a 2 hour drive. The weather will be warmer in these areas, so you can pack far less clothing.
  22. interesting...I've never seen Manny hit the glove this much, but they're nearly all just missing the zone. Give him a better target, and he could roll the rest of this game
  23. I was at the game Jody Gerut got a hit...in fact, he hit for the cycle. Both are pretty rare for him
  24. good recaps, although Gamel's been great, not good. His BB:K is good, his OBP is good, etc.
