  1. ha ha...good one Mass. Also, is there any reason why Brewer has been primarily DH'ing? He's had limited action at SS, and I'm not sure if it's his lack of offensive results (some would say they've been rather offensive!) or an injury he's nursing.
  2. Invader....don't forget that Hart was universally accepted as the better prospect. Cruz was seen as a guy that might hit .220 in the majors, strikeout 230 times, hit 30 HR, and play a good RF.
  3. Toby, my thought's exactly! My first thought....the famous Uecker quote.
  4. Even my Macha-supporting friends began calling for his head this weekend when he saw his pitchers (Yo and Davis, especially) getting squeezed, and Macha doesn't do anything to defend his pitchers. Most of them ridiculed Ned, but I'm finding that the longer he's been gone, the more they sing his praises as they now miss a fiery manager that defended (often over-defended) his players, rather than treats them like commodities
  5. I miss it...but not as Midwest. I miss Midwest Express. To me, it all started going downhill after 9/11, followed by the initial name change. What finally doomed them was the ridiculous fuel prices a few years ago. Still, it was a rarity in the air....comfort??? Most airlines are fine. USAirways is cheap. Southwest is usually a bit pricier, but doesn't charge for bags (although the seating is annoying). Delta/NW is fine. United and American feel like flying Bureaucracies. Midwest was unique...now its gone. At the same time...Frontier is pretty nice as well
  6. So...which Wisconsin pitcher do people most want to see pitch at Miller Park if the Brewers host a series? Should be some good debate
  7. From what I've read, I would groom Green for the rare Loretta/Hall/Figgins-type role. Figure 25-35 starts per year at 3b, 25-35 per year at 2b. McGehee seems to be legit. Gamel may likely move to 1b in a year or so (still lots of options left).
  8. JohnBriggs, he always did put up good numbers in the minors.
  9. I'd rather keep Green for most of the season in AA. He can always make a brief stint in AAA before hitting MLB, but a whole season in AA doesn't hurt
  10. Logan, Stetter does not have options left. That's why he made the club last year or would have been put on waivers.
  11. my concern with Davis is his velocity. Gameday showed him at 84 mph on his fastball today. Last time with the Brewers he was hitting 88-89. Additionally, early in the game he threw a number of cutters and curves that Gameday showed as strikes, only they were called balls. We can't keep having our pitchers getting squeezed on good pitches (Yo Saturday, Davis today)
  12. to be honest folks, I told everyone entering this series (friends and fam, not bfan.net) that I absolutely hate how the Cards must be the best team in MLB history AFTER the 7th inning. In the last few years, it seems like the Cards are always winning late in the game, often in lucky fashion. Hoffy will do great this year, starting tomorrow.
  13. I've tried following the minors since around '98. The amount of bats we have in the minors right now is greater than at any other time. They might not be the studs that Fielder/Hardy/Hart were, but they're still very good--and plentiful
  14. Have we heard why Krieger isn't on a team? Is it an injury? or just too many OF's?
  15. I'm really looking forward to following Komatsu for a full season. It's actually a nice top of the order in AA, A+, and A...so this will be a fun year following pitchers AND hitters. It's also awesome that we've had great pitching performances each night thus far. It used to be only like once a week!
  16. I'm with Hawing. I'd contact the police and file a complaint, letting them know of the behavior. Don't go vigilante without having a record with the police first.
  17. Mass, aren't they allowed an extra player during the first few weeks of the season?
  18. Can we front-load it, so that he makes more next year when Suppan and Hall are off the books rather than in 2012 or so when Fielder and Braun will be making plenty?
  19. I don't think we can question the trade because CC carried us to the playoffs. I miss Brantley far more, though. At the same time, I was among those who felt it was an easy decision of Hart over Nelson Cruz. Right now I'm feeling foolish. Hopefully Corey can return to that old form.
  20. Dbacks prices are low just because of the god-awful 3rd deck. It's best seat is probably still farther from the field than Miller Park's last row. Brewers are most affordable when factoring in food and parking. And as for the Cubs...it's crazy because I've been there for about 4 games, and never had a problem buying tickets at the window on gameday. Maybe it's been a few years, but I can't believe they're the highest!
  21. no experience Patrick, but I'll follow up. I love my laptop. It's plenty peppy, very portable, has good battery life, etc. I see myself using it for 2-3 years, rather than the 1 year I got out of the netbook
  22. why do a sac bunt? Rickie can score from second on almost any hit. If they were banking on a sac fly vs a groundball pitcher, it wasn't smart
  23. Romanski better take the mound, or else he'll be remembered as the best DH Helena has seen lately.
  24. JJ's defense is steady as can be, but his offense is streaky. Throughout his big league career he has struggled with his offensive identity, as he's openly gone on the record as saying he's a dead pull hitter, yet his best offensive stretches have come when going to all fields. He also tends to battle through nagging injuries which hamper production. When given a few days of rest, he often comes back strong. With defense, has the Jeter-like quality of always being in the right spot. Oh yeah...in the 9th, you're hoping the ball gets hit to him, as it's an automatic out
