  1. danzig, I remember in college going to Giants/A's games where it was $8 beers. Milwaukee is the most affordable place for concessions because individuals have a viable alternative...increase food/drink consumption in the parking lot
  2. johnbriggs, his numbers last year were eerily similar to those he had before his arm problems first began. Similar trends/rates. He's actually throwing harder now, since after signing they said he was throwing only 91 or so, whereas last year we heard multiple sources saying he touched 94 mph.
  3. darn...I knew when I saw the lineup that having Edmonds after Fielder could be a problem. Jim did alright vs lefties, but he should have been swapped with McGhee
  4. Brewers 90-72. Fun Predictions--strange injuries: -Ryan Braun hurts neck during photo-shoot, has to miss 2 games -Corey Hart loses ball in lights, ball hits in face, suffers concussion and fractures to face. Decides to play through pain and actually improves -Rickie Weeks tears tendon sheeths, both arms fall off Cubs variety: -Soriano to DL after being assaulted in clubhouse by Zambrano for failure to run hard after ball. Cubs finish 75-87, 5th place
  5. Invader, we need some of them, including perhaps Capuano. For 2011 alone, we'll have Suppan off the books, Bush might start getting pricey (with or without a good year, and we'll have an idea if we can count on Parra/Narveson
  6. texting. I'm 29, and I have to say that I can't fathom meeting friends somewhere (like Summerfest or sporting events). We just say "hey, lets get together tonight" then when someone finds a landmark, he texts to let the others know when/where he is. I guess in the 90s people used to often talk about meeting up, but unless they actually bothered to plan it in advance, it failed to happen. Besides that...wireless internet and satellite TV are up there. I love the MLB package and have for years!
  7. I'd actually DFA Gerut and let Cust and Hart share RF duties.
  8. wouldn't it be something if Jones went from occasionally hitting 94, to suddenly hitting 96? How's his secondary stuff? does he have a decent second pitch? before all the injuries, he supposedly had a curve and changeup
  9. i know its just pre-season, but I want a win! come on boys, save the pitching staff and score two in the bottom of the 9th
  10. I like Bush's competitiveness. In the Fall League in '06, McGowan was scheduled to start the championship game and instead packed his things and drove home. I asked him why, and he said "the Blue Jays got me to promise 5 starts. I made 5 starts, so I'm done" The rest of the guys were in it for the championship ring and to impress scouts
  11. I can't wait til Macha is gone, but for players...I'll say Geoff Jenkins. Do they get more overrated?
  12. ah, gotcha...logged in with an old account, and it never asked for me to purchase
  13. With Gomez in CF, I am not all that worried about our RF defense. Hart once looked promising out there, but he hasn't been that great recently.
  14. Too bad about Anundsen's velocity. I remember reading in Sept/Oct that he was committed to going home and regaining his HS velocity through a new workout program. Of course, Steve Woodard was a solid big league starter throwing 85-88 mph. What screwed him up was his desire to become a power pitcher. He did gain the velocity he wanted, but his career was lost by that point
  15. battlekow, can we just move him to RF so he's ready when we give up on Hart?
  16. Hart has not been good since the all-star game, but come on, he hasn't been Turner Ward bad wait. Ward was a part time player on some crappy Brewers teams. He played solid defense and did what he was paid to do. His OPS was not that far below Hart's, which is impressive considering nobody had heard of OPS at the time, and OBP was something most of us had never heard of. If Hart walked like Ward, I'd be happy! Hart has been awful for 1.5 years. He has talent. What's crazy is that in his allstar campaign, he was arguably the Brewers' best hitter in the first half. Personally, I'd love to send Hart to AAA, as I think he needs to work on things while not costing the Brewers games
  17. Yes, that's true. But perhaps the Tigers would pay the difference of Suppan to Magglio AND the cost of the buyout ($3million I think). If he does well, he makes $12 million next year to the Brewer (15-3) and that can possibly be accounted for by Hart being traded and Hall off the books
  18. endaround, I actually thought about Magglio Ordonez. We could actually get cash AND a hitter that's a year removed from a good year, in return for Suppan. Edit: throw in that Magglio would get a big boost from Miller Park vs Comerica
  19. Hammer, the County cards were always affordable when I grew up in Waukesha County. The only problem was the package that included Brown Deer, but the simple solution is to not include that course. Brown Deer has nothing special about it, besides hosting the GMO (when it did). I preferred playing Oakwood (great track) and Dretzka to it any day of the week.
  20. Katin not getting into big league camp is a sign of what the club thinks. Last year he had a pretty huge spring for them. Didn't he hit a grand slam and draw favorable reviews from the coaches?
  21. Scenic View always seemed really good about hosting small events. Maybe Kettle Hills as well. I have never played in these kinds of events out west, although Waukesha county has some amazing golf for the prices
  22. like I've said before, one of my happiest days in the Fall League was the day Miguel Montero got added to the 40 man roster. The deadline is in late November, so the clubhouse would get a little tense as guys waited. Going from making $4k per year to around $25k a year is huge! Especially for the undrafted guys who had no signing bonus
  23. RockCoCougar, Suppan wants to pitch, and the Brewers want some return on their 2010 investment. It would make sense to at least try my proposal. He could refuse it and get a job elsewhere, but he's settle in Milwaukee and may be intrigued be it. He'd get his money either way
  24. I'm wondering if the Brewers might be trying to send Suppan to AAA (much like Steve Trachsel some years ago). He'd have to clear waivers AND accept the assignment, but it might be best for all parties. He'd go to AAA, hopefully find his stuff, and pitch his way back to the Brewers or into being traded. Of course, I've also thought that perhaps they should send Hart to AAA and let Gerut and Edmonds share RF for now while Corey figures it out.
