  1. wow. For all the Yost critics, a double switch. Lee in for the pitcher. Hart to RF, Lee to LF, Pitcher batting 3rd.
  2. okay, not this time Geoff. But soon. Your day shall come...or else you'll be below .250
  3. can we keep Gonzalez off the basepaths?
  4. and some love for Tim Dillard, a personal favorite since we drafted him for the 16th time
  5. I utilize the mlb.com one, as I prefer it. come on, need a run...or 10
  6. I agree with those pitchers, Gene, and I love adding catchers. Robinson sounds interesting. And of course, we also have that 3rd baseman who failed to report last year..it's like an extra pick.
  7. So who is this Thompson guy that's beating us?
  8. About half have no other rookie club, instead having short-season A-ball clubs. So the competition level in the Pioneer League has to be factored into Helena's success over the years. I've never understood why some teams have short-season A and some have Rookie Leagues. they're the same really. What really taught me the need to temper enthusiasm based on Rookie ball numbers was the lack of success in A-ball of our 2004 Helena Brewers. I believe these names include Festa, Richardson, Brady, Rasheed, Sollman, etc.
  9. what are the stupid mistakes?
  10. And DHonks is right, the roster limits in R-ball are larger, 35-man rosters I love it when I get credit for stuff I didn't say. But the real credit goes to Bork. Historically the Brewers have fielded VERY competitive Rookie Ball teams in the Pioneer League. Pascual might be a bit aggressive to Helena, but I think De La Cruz hit a bunch of homers last year. It's also possible that as guys get healthy, that guys from WV get bumped down to get more playing time in a league they're more likely to succeed in
  11. Shane Hill is the one I really want them to sign. I think he was the 9th rounder, but that scouting video is silky smooth
  12. Barry Bonds is the best player of all time. But he gets booed every night. I support Rickie and hope he can stay at 2nd, but he's a big leaguer and doesn't need to be sheltered from criticism.
  13. well, now we need Fielder to jack one and TBOW to make it 3 wins in a row
  14. so have the Pads met a 1st pitch strike they didn't want to swing at?
  15. good to see 2005 draftees Garrison and Hammond throwing well. Garrison is someone I couldn't wait to follow this year based on last season. Good K rates, good walk rates
  16. It will be weird listening to Tony Gwynn and Matty V. There is TV in AZ really? you in Havasu or something? It's not on Cox Digital Cable
  17. I asked Bill Mitchell (BA photographer) about Neugy during the Fall League, and he said it was very peculiar. When in the minors, he'd become friends w/Neugy and his family. But then all of a sudden he disappeared. Sometime in the '05 season, Bill asked an M's farmhand (whom Neugy had been close to) about Nick's status, and he said that even he hadn't heard anything about him in a long time, and they'd been good friends. It seems he just kind of disappeared. I would have guessed he would have kept working at it and given it another shot.
  18. Just emailed my buddy to ask about Eric Newton, our 33rd rounder. For those who don't know, I went to Santa Clara, and my buddy still works in the athletic dept and works at every game. His words: "Lead WCC in homers, but those are inflated because he hit most of them off far inferior teams or D2 schools. hits for power if he actually hits it. Strikes out a lot. Can't hit a curve, rarely catches up to high fastball. average fielder. Based off of other SCU guys taken...i would wager he does not get past A ball."
  19. thanks batman. Glad to hear. I expected that, but didn't see anything about it. I'll forward it to my buddy who is an M's fan, cause I think he was having a heart attack.
  20. You've Got to be kidding me (link)
