  1. wow, looking at the averages/obp's of the lineup, this is the most balanced I can ever remember. Even our pitcher today can hit. In the late 90s, the lineups featuring Vina, Loretta, Cirillo, Nilsson, Burnitz, Jaha, and Valentin were fairly productive, but not like this 1-8
  2. a true ace would have caught that ball
  3. anyone else notice how Festa and Yost have quietly upped their averages a ton?
  4. And then, of course, Justin Thompson throws a complete game on 73 pitches 65 for strikes. Wow, talk about a tough luck loss
  5. Good to hear Cirillo is in the lineup. I hate sitting others, but it's just fun hearing his name in there. He had a good interview with the guys on mlb radio on XM a few minutes ago.
  6. I was thinking the same thing about Hart. In an emergency, Weeks or Cirillo (or Koskie due to his range and arm) could slide over to SS. Can't be very different from Scutaro. Hart could get some reps at 3b, too. And it's almost time for Fielder to have another day off just to keep him fresh.
  7. mass, I would think he reached his single inning pitch count. The Brewers have said in the past that they stress not only IP and pitch counts, but also how stressful those innings are.
  8. ouch, just saw the game was on. 42 pitches in the first usually isn't a sign of success. need to bust out the whoopin sticks
  9. I used to wonder if Hall could catch, given his mobility and arm strength. Of course, I was among those who loved seeing Branyan warming a guy up in the pen last year, as I had visions of him starting once or twice a week behind the dish, putting up Matt Nokes/Lance Parrish/Mickey Tettleton type numbers.
  10. After 3 encouraging starts, Rogers gets hit hard. Although, the error by Katin might have played a big part in it. Also, is it really windy there? Seems like a lot of ground-rule doubles in the game log (3 or 4).
  11. thanks Colby. I just read up on all of the guys you mentioned, and i'm comfortable with nearly all of them. Anderson and Kennedy seem especially intriguing. I'm weary of the catcher a bit, but it's more my personal view. As I've said before, I prefer taking fewer catchers in the draft, and instead taking more arms. I'd rather take my chances with signing a $5 million catcher every few years, or trade for AAAA types for the job. Salome seems to be the exception, but he also sounds a bit too good to be true right now. I remember being enamored with a high school catcher who hit something like .750 in high school...a guy named Belcher. Or I remember believing in a former JuCo home run champ...a guy named Kade.
  12. wow, great night for pitchers. Krynzel and Gwynn steal another bag each. And anyone else notice Josh Murray is hitting well above the Uecker Line?
  13. Chan Ho, the second worst Park in baseball behind Coors Field. of the one's I've been to, Shea is definitely as bad as Chan Ho.
  14. my boy Chris Carter with the homer. Good for him, too bad for the Sounds.
  15. so Toby, how about Jason Johnson? Looks like we were both wrong...I liked Matt Morris
  16. yeah Toby, saw you mentioned him, and today's the first day I actually noticed him in the boxscore, thanks to you. I'd like to know more, but I'll wait for some continued success first.
  17. Colby, I'll ask my usual question...which pitcher profiles the most like Ben Sheets this year? Also, who would profile as the Doug Davis/Jeremy Sowers? I mean a crafty lefty with decent stuff who can rise quickly. I think this year I'd rather go hitting, especially a high school stud.
  18. Hart can be called up and sent down an unlimited number of times this season. The only rule is that he can't be called up for I think 10 days after he is sent down, unless he's replacing someone put on the DL. I'd call him up for the 3-4 days until Eveland needs to be activated, as insurance at 1b.
  19. are we sure it's not for fires? I wonder if the Crew will hold Eveland back a bit. Like have him throw 4 innings or 80 pitches, so he could be available on Saturday just in case.
  20. Brian, not that you get pleasure out of it, but I'm pleased to see markwitx removed, as I thought he was very annoying in the in-game threads, to the point where I didn't want to post there because of the posts.
  21. I smell a banning. There's some things that people can joke about. They can joke about my dead dog. My mother. My dateless life. But they CANNOT joke about Sheets
  22. I wouldn't expect him to start on Thursday either. Giving him maximum days off, we could have him go Saturday, with everyone else on regular rest
