  1. Huston Street is one player I would have taken earlier than where the A's did, as he was the complete package, although I would have tried him as a starter first. Huston is listed at 6' and 185. Would knowing that he's more like 5'10" and 170 change your idea of starting him? I'm not biased against shorter pitchers, just asking your impression.
  2. Mercedes....wow. That's all I can say
  3. Brian, time to hop in the Way-Back machine and find out what exactly was said
  4. ...but Inman with a stellar outing. I may have to join his fanclub
  5. just wondering if we know if Yost is planned as a minor league catcher or 1st baseman? I thought we'd read he wasn't 100% back from wrist surgery yet, so I'm under the assumption he'll catch next year. also, anything on Kade Johnson?
  6. nice night for the system. Undefeated thus far, with 2 to finish. That's not counting Milwaukee though. Still, good to see. Also nice to see Mr. Pereird (sp?) with a nice outing. Baker with a nice outing, too. And someone maybe should have told Brady this is full season ball, meaning you're supposed to begin playing well in April, not July. Better late than never
  7. strep throat can last several weeks, too, and take several more to recover from
  8. I have, too. Most just don't realize that Bob worked hard for his .200 avg
  9. I think it's about time that Brewerfan.net officially adopt a policy that .200 shall no longer be known as the Mendoza line, but rather the Uecker line. I'm thinking of this after seeing the Hardy-thread.
  10. another tasty menu...thanks guys. and nice standings sheet
  11. do we know the injuries and timeframes for the DL guys? Perhaps a new thread pinned at the top of the forum could serve as the "Current Minor League Rosters Thread" or "Minor League DL thread", updated only by administrators like the draft signings forum
  12. some serve a purpose. I hate to single out newbies, but what I hate is when new users will come on and create multiple polls within their first 100 posts. A forum might be nice, but what if one is extremely useful? I know I likely won't visit the forum much, but I might miss out on that one golden poll that attracts my attention
  13. my only beef with the site is the tone the users have taken in recent months. It used to be solely a pro-Brewers site. Now many of the conversations are spent bashing Yost, Schroeder, Sutton, etc. Heck, I like bashing Jenkins for the piss-poor level of play he's shown these past few years, but there comes a point where I've said it enough times.
  14. Clancy, I think you and I are the only ones in the Vandenberg camp. the kid produces
  15. Can we get rid of Helling and promote one of the many AA pitchers that deserve it? Helling is doing fine. Pratt, Housman, et al are bigger priorities By the way, in respect to Scoop (it was Scoop, wasnt it?), did you catch the bit about Hart talking about his slight elbow adjustment that is letting him come through the ball quicker and more level. HOFFY, Scoop was saying he needed to change his elbow to increase his uppercut. However, your quote indicates the change was to make his swing more level.
  16. Al, do we know what Davis throws these days. 3 or 4 years ago he was the talk of Mets spring training when he was throwing 100 mph.
  17. I'd look to put him in AZ with the chance to jump to WV next year. My question is, how much did Rickie bulk up in college? If he was undrafted, he must have put a lot on in college, which means maybe his family is full of late-developers.
  18. The Stars record for wins in a season is 14, held by Dan Eskew (1990) and Bobby Chouinard (1995). But don't figure the pitching-poor Brewers would leave Eveland here long enough this year to threaten the record Not to sound picky, but the Brewers aren't pitching-poor at the moment. Yes, the AAA squad could use help, but Hendrickson is holding his own, Housman has been iffy, Helling very good, Glover very solid. So to me, Eveland may have a shot at the record
  19. So I typically agree with Al. But tonight he had a comment that made me want to laugh it was so ridiculous. Let's see, a pitcher gets a flyball that the OF misplays by turning the wrong way, misjudging its depth, and letting it clank off the heel of his glove. Yet it's not a 3-base error? What, a 2-base error and him going to 3rd on the throw? to quote: I saw that scoring decision and got excited, as to me it was a rare instance of scorekeepers holding fielders accountable rather than punishing pitchers.
  20. good to see everyone got in on the carnage for the H-Brews. I'd still like to see the 2004 OBP draftees get going...that's Festa, Richardson, Brady, Sollman, Rasheed
  21. rluzinski, you might want to go into the game, as Zambrano always has a chance at no-hitting us
  22. nice 3-base error. I was going to comment before on how nice his catch was in the first
  23. I wish they'd pipe the Radio through the SAP option
