  1. Could he possibly be any more ready offensively? he's not batting 1.00, though. Just kidding. His offense is amazing. But they need him to figure out how to play defense while we figure out how to move Spivey
  2. as a fan of small ball, I should point out that Clark's DP was more productive than we've been lately w/the bases loaded (except for Lee last night).
  3. we don't need another 17 inning game fellas...although it does sound tasty
  4. I have no problems with Hart. He and Cruz really impressed me in spring training. But I don't envision Hart being ready till around June/July '06. He has as much range as Clark, and his arm appeared as good as Jenkins'. Yet he got some terrible jumps on balls and just flat out looked like Alex Sanchez out there.
  5. Brian, speaking of Jenkins, how come he always had those freak injuries when he was doing well? Well, most came when doing well. Why not when he was doing poorly? I'm not wishing for an injury, especially since I don't think our corner guys are ready
  6. Thought that was gone from Kent. Man that guy always scares me. Heck, same for Drew. For all those who don't want Hardy in the bigs right now, I point to that right there as an example. The moment we all saw that ball on the ground heading towards short, we knew it was an out. In typical JJ fashion, Overbay didn't have to move his glove an inch. Nice job boys. Couldn't afford to lose the first two to the Dodgers. Gotta feel good with Santos facing a newbie tomorrow night
  7. let's hope this is an outing where they don't zero in on his heater. It's been happening more and more lately
  8. I love your posts DHonks wow, quite the brown-nose. But it's nice to be recognized, so gracias. I enjoy your level-headed analysis of all subjects. And finding out you are an owner of a bar just adds to your legendary status in mind. well, bar/coffeeshop/best damn teahouse in Milwaukee. My brother didn't let me buy into his jazz club, but at least Rochambo does serve liquor (my friends all claim it's a darn good Irish coffee). As for the "level-headed analysis," I guess if I've made almost 5400 posts, occasionally I say something insightful. but definitely thanks for the kind words.
  9. Kind of surprised Ned didn't double-switch, Krynzel for Clark. Of course, Krynzel's long been a favorite. I mean, Clark made the last out of the inning. Krynzel covers more ground out there. And also, the 3 innings off would be like giving Clark a full day off, relatively speaking
  10. BILLY!!! wow, what's scary is his avg has climbed above Overbay's. Come on Lyle, time to get out of this funk
  11. for those not watching, Cappy looked good that inning. His HBP was not that far in...maybe 2-3", but the hitter was right on the plate.
  12. stop by Rochambo...I'm part owner, and the business is appreciated
  13. I've got Vin on, the package works here
  14. I see some melting/gooey white stuff. Could be whipped cream
  15. us vs a sinkerballer w/good stuff? I think it's another 2-1 game. Sorry Cappy
  16. Isn't part of it based on how often guys hit it in the sweet spot? I mean, if a guy gets a lot of singles or fouls off lots of balls off the handle, it might make sense that with a wood bat, those become broken bat groundouts to the pitcher or ss
  17. Okay, checked out a few of the names mentioned in the thread. -Romero--has great mechanics. Based on my memory, I said last year that I'd take either HS arm over the college arms, and Baker over the big 3. I would put Romero in that class, as he has very nice, patient mechanics. With the slow delivery, arms over head, and high leg kick it reminded me a bit of someone, and I can't remember who. Maybe Smoltz, maybe Clemens. From the side view, his mechanics look very repeatable. My concern is that it appeared he didn't throw many strikes. Is he just hitting the corners, or did others feel he seems wildly effective (stuff looks good to college hitters, pros won't swing at it all)? -Parramore--as noted, he does things differently, apparently with nobody on base. It's almost like he sits on his heels. Other than that, not much I don't like -Gordon--First observation was that he has a nice build for a 3b. He's not some towering presence that you know will be moved to 1b. Defensively, he likes getting infront of the ball. We've seen too much of Belliard, Valentin, Hall, and Spivey and their preference to backhand everything, so it's good to see someone in the Hardy mode of thought. Why show him taking soft toss? His stance looks a bit like Brian Giles, but it's hard to tell from the side. A nice crouch, with a nice straight back. Nice calm hands at address, slight leg kick, nothing Jenkins-like. I do have a major concern though. The scouting videos make him appear to be a front-foot hitter. What I mean is that if you were to watch the side views of some of the game's greatest hitters, I would theorize their heads hardly move, if at all. However, the videos show Gordon swaying forward on nearly every pitch a good foot or so. I McCormick--looks to me to be an injury waiting to happen. He just seems to never square up his front shoulder. Hochevar--I really like the look of this kid out there. Free and easy, nice long stride. Reminds me a bit of my boy, Huston Street, and a bit of Matt Morris for the way the hands and legs look in the motion. That's really it. I can't stand these 56k images. When blown up, they look terrible. And I really find it easier trying to look at the pitchers than the hitters. What's awkward is that of the names being mentioned, Maybin doesn't even have a video yet.
  18. nice outing from Baker...I think he's had two of these so far. Other than him and Adams throwing well...yuck! So who all is in the rotation in AA now, if Sarfate, Ballouli, and Costello all went tonight?
  19. nice trio going today. Throw in that I think Anderson and Parra should be throwing tomorrow, and it's downright exciting these two days
  20. thanks Mass. It makes it nice and easy to figure out now
  21. I'm concerned with taking a guy like this in the 3rd. I mean, if there's a chance we don't sign him, then that means we're jumping from our 1st to 4th round picks
  22. I absolutely loved his mechanics, but goes to show that work ethic and workout regimen are important in today's game, as the ballclub never kept it a secret they were unhappy with his dedication
  23. to one of the administrators, it might be nice to denote the DFE signings differently from the rest of the signings. Just something to make it easier for me to remember which ones were signed this year
