  1. In past years, I seem to recall you being almost as secretive as the Brew Crew's war room with your top picks. Or was that 2nd rounders? But this year it's been Romero from day 1, with a lot of "I like this guy" type comments
  2. wow. what a catch. I'm going on record as declaring myself free of anti-Jenks comments (or thoughts) until next week Tuesday
  3. Colby, it's more of my optimism. It would really mess with the top 5, and could be what we need to drop Gordon to us.
  4. Yost was praising Wise as his possible closer in spring training and early in the year. Not sure what has merited that critique
  5. wow, Davis with the lead. It's a win fellas, cause Davis doesn't get ND's.
  6. gregmag, with the huge BB/K stats of the others, I, too, was shocked. I wonder if it's more a product of his spot in the lineup. Still, I'd be less than enthused until I saw his stats in pro ball for a little while
  7. Also, Wynegar needs to be fired, if only to stir things up a bit. I'm not blaming him necessarily, but rather the status quo. tyguy20204, I hope I never work for you.
  8. wow, way to go Power. It's about time a Brewers' affiliate hangs a crooked number in the late innings. I'm sick of us giving those up
  9. but i have to think if Moeller is anywhere NEAR the plate, he should make the play rwa12, I was wondering the same thing. Did Moeller forget there was a force at the plate, as he made no effort to keep his left foot on/near the plate? Why was he trying to catch Helms' throw several feet infront of the plate and off to the side, instead of with a foot on the plate?
  10. stupid play by helms, but it was still a great play to get to it. you want to talk about the way the ball is bouncing, look no farther than Hall's DP. He hits a liner over the head of the pitcher. Unfortunately the only pitcher in the big leagues capable of catching that ball is the one on the mound
  11. so is EZboard gonna struggle to load tomorrow with the expected draft day surge? It was insane here last year
  12. just to remind everyone in advance, Randy is a decent hitter, so don't be surprised. Most somehow forget he handles the bat decently, and blame their pitchers when he gets a hit
  13. I also am expecting the Dbacks to draft a college pitcher. No insider info, and I'm not getting on the horn w/my insiders, since they aren't named Mike Rizzo. I just have a feeling they'd love a top starter who can jump to AA right now, and be slotted behind Ortiz, Webb, Vazquez, and Halsey come next July.
  14. So you'd take Joe Crede over Aramas Rameriz because Crede is the better defender? I'd rather take neither, but I've made it well known that I am not a Ramirez fan, especially at nearly $10 million. Are he and Sheets the same type of impact player? I think not
  15. and they really are so much better than this, but their whole approach can be described by a word DHonks used recently to describe Rickie's D - nonchalant aka, piss poor. Rickie has the talent to be a great defensive 2b. But it's the age old question. Which would you rather have, a JJ Hardy at SS, a Craig Counsell, or a Jose Valentin? Some would take Valentin for superior range and arm strength. I'd take either of the other two. When it comes down to it, groundballs to short in the bottom of 9th become outs with Counsell and Hardy. I've seen Rickie a few times, and he's like watching Spivey, Belliard, Valentin, Hall, etc. The mistakes are stupid. Guys like this are the reason Steve Scarborough is in AAA, just a call away from the big leagues
  16. It was Obermueller in his typical pattern. Today he'll probably come out and throw well. We've known he gets results when he's aggressive and pounding the zone. When he nibbles, he gets no calls and is forced to serve a few in there.
  17. Well, some very nice performances tonight. Hidden in the night is Nelson Cruz. Now doesn't the Little Unit go tomorrow?
  18. Is it bad that I haven't looked at the probables, but I'm hoping for a lefty tomorrow so Helms can play 1st?
  19. Weeks has GOT to be up as soon as they're sure he isn't Super 2. Doug must be thinking this. I'm sure in their minds, it isn't even a factor. The play of Rickie Weeks will decide when he gets to the big leagues. What's the difference between a super 2 and a regular 3rd year guy? Maybe $1 million tops, more likely far less.
  20. Jorge had 4 nights off. Not a week. And in the last three games, starters combined for 19 of 27 innings. That's 8 innings for our top relievers--Wise, Turnbow, Bottalico, Santana, Phelps
  21. who is saying Jorge won't be a stud? The guy looked amazing in his first outing or two of the season. He just needs to remember how to throw strikes.
  22. come on guys. You're treating Jorge like a victim. He's our second best lefty in the pen, and our 4th best lefty on the staff. The long men in the pen aren't supposed to get regular work. They're supposed to work hard to keep themselves ready whenever called upon. Lately Yost has tried getting him into these late inning situations to start an inning, because we haven't had starters struggling. If Jorge's role is the 6th inning, and our starters keep going 7 and 8, he'll never get work. The simple fact is that Jorge isn't doing his job.
  23. Jorge has no business in the big leagues. Yet I know we can't pass him through waivers. This sure is frustrating watching him throw ball after ball once again
  24. well, one Brewers first rounder facing another
  25. I'm with you...we never fare well against the unknowns and the soft tossers
