  1. DocLuna, you're mistaking things. Melvin's problem isn't Sept callups, it's player eligibility. He'd like to set a limit, like only 25 or 30 players can be active on a given day. Given that teams have 5 starting pitchers, currently it's like having a 21-man roster each day.
  2. I agree Hellweg is a lock. They need a chance to evaluate him. Heck, it's the Bausher/Brian Wolfe move of sending the re-habbing old guy. People are forgetting that many teams don't send top pitching prospects. I'll add Jed Bradley as well
  3. clancy, Arcia isn't eligible. LouisEly has a nice list, including the Brewers' typical rehab/comeback guy in Hellweg.
  4. I have only seen 2 or 3 cracked iPhone 6/6+. One hit the road when a friend left it on his roof and drove off. Despite being run over with a cracked screen it still worked. But many iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 5s, and 5c's have spider-webbed screens.
  5. Given how Wagner has righted the ship, I would like to see him with another start or two.
  6. yes Gene...and lots of good pitching performances
  7. SRB, the front office traded him because he's 30 and has demand. Metrics-minded teams probably love the pitch-velocity variance, strikeout rates, low hit totals, and efficient pitch counts. He likely would have begun his decline by the time we return to prominence.
  8. Really excited about him as a prospect. He seems to profile a lot like Nelson Cruz. Nice power, nice walk ability, decent defense dabbling in CF, and lots of K's. Hopefully he figures it out about 6 years earlier than Nelson!
  9. So glad for Fiers. I really hope he gets a big pay day. He's a testament to Brewers' scouting and player development too
  10. Wily has Ace potential. 96 mph sinker?!??? that's almost unheard of. He still doesn't have a strikeout pitch. It's a nice slider, but doesn't get enough swing and misses. I advocated him returning to the team in the pen to focus on attacking hitters in shorter bursts and hopefully increase his strikeout rates. We've seen pitchers that struggle to attack hitters. I believe that's one thing the Cardinals do well, and I think their tendency to begin the starters in the pen allows them to learn how to go after guys.
  11. Not sure of google maps on Android, but Apple's maps uses less data than Google Maps on iOS.
  12. IIRC, that is a year old feature on Android and I don't think iOS has caught up yet. no clue, I've had this setting active on AT&T for years. never considered it as an iOS or Android feature, when it's the service provider that tracks it. I'd check for you on my iPhone, but I'm too busy
  13. agreed. i have removed all photos of my wife from my facebook wall. facebook? what's that? My high school students tell me Facebook is for moms in their 30s and 40s to post non-stop pictures of kids while seeking awkward validation and approval that makes them SOOOOO uncool. To look at my blank Facebook page, I see that my students are right. It's hilarious when my friend's wife praises his house projects and he thanks her on Facebook....do they really need to communicate this in a public forum so others can say "aww what a great hubby!" Anyways, that's my way of changing the commentary more in this thread!
  14. ah, the religious angle. Knew that was coming. Next thing we know, people will say they can't support Bryce Harper because he's mormon. Anyways, saw this story Saturday evening and loved reading it. Best of luck to Denson. I've always hoped he would do well as he's lefty and has power. But now this (and the way it's all been handled) has me impressed with him and the organization
  15. Game05, not sure about it anymore, but you used to be able to return a phone within 30 days and--at most--pay a restocking fee. Also, of Android users, I've hear quite a few lately profess they are done with Samsung phones and will only be buying LG and HTC
  16. It's great having two nice ecosystems and the competition they bring. I have had iPhones ever since the iPhone 4 came out. I went to a Palm device before that as my first smartphone, but it was actually VERY dumb. I had iPhone envy almost from day 1. I've been happy with every device since then. iPads, iPhones, the MacBook Air, Apple TV, my 13" Retina MB Pro, and now my Apple Watch. Every device I've had has worked great from day 1, no issues. My favorite tool is an often-criticized feature--iCloud. I haven't needed to email myself a document in probably 2-3 years, and I haven't used a thumbdrive in probably 7 years. Every file I make in Numbers or Pages (Apple's versions of Excel and Word, respectively) instantly shows up on every device. I'm just very pleased with the devices. I have a few HS students in my classes that like Android more. Although several switched last year, later confessing that they only liked the bigger screens and switchable batteries. My HS is a ~90% iOS school, per surveys conducted.
  17. Doesn't Garza throw harder, work deeper in games, and have a more devastating breaking ball? I'd rather have Garza. Yo was solid, but I miss the Yo of his rookie year that attacked hitters, went deep in games
  18. Since Brewers player development wasn't high on Thielbar previously, I'm not sure if things have changed
  19. mlbtraderumors says that Gomez has elected free agency, and I don't blame him with all the middle infielders.
  20. I'd love to have more guys that are high avg, high OBP guys to have prolonged rallies. In the 90s we had decent offenses where Loretta, Vina, and Cirillo played crucial roles, even though they often provided less power at their positions. And Wildcat, I'd find AB's for Rogers wherever. Give him a 2nd start at 3b. In one game he's not likely to kill us...doesn't mean he should play 150 in a season. Give him starts at 1b as Lind has the chronic back issues. and yes, give him starts in LF with Davis on the bench as Davis has not been cutting it. Not giving up on Davis, but instead saying he hasn't shown he deserves to play 100% of the time.
  21. Thanks for the link Mass. I really hope the Brewers are patient with Santana. His player profile reminds me of late-to-develop Latin stars like Carlos Gomez, Jose Bautista, Jose Guillen, and Nelson Cruz. The strikeouts got tamed at later stages and the ball contact improved as they learned the nuances of pitch selection
  22. LouisEly, I saw on MLBTradeRumors that Lohse had solid metrics for this year that showed his ERA is not at all representative of his work. I can't recall seeing a 2-run difference before.
  23. Jason Rogers has been a stud in our system and I really hope he gets a chance for some ABs
  24. Interesting numbers. Also nice to note how well he's pitched since the DL stint. 4 games, 2.55 ERA, 6+ IP/G, 19 H, 11 BB, 19 K, 1.22 WHIP
