  1. yep...I have only been there in January and Feb. My friend works at Wake Forest, so that's your area
  2. The replies in this thread make me laugh and it's one thing I just don't get with people on here...they often assume that with one bad year a player is done. They assume Lohse simply cannot improve, felt trading for Prince would have been awful since he's washed up and done, Josh Hamilton can't contribute, etc. Seriously, Luc wants to be a lifetime Brewet and we need to pursue it. His offense will be better than this and his defense will likely continue to be strong for many years
  3. Paul, it's pretty simple. We as fans seem to often say, "well, if the ligament has issues, do TJ surgery and he'll be good as new in 14-18 months." Realistically, player, doctors, trainers, etc all would rather attempt every avenue before approaching TJ surgery.
  4. Wouldn't 1b be more physically demanding given his current nagging injury is his hand? I could see a move back to LF. Davis has been underwhelming offensively and defensively. I'm not giving up on him, but I also would like to upgrade LF.
  5. funketown, where in NC? I visit a Wisco friend there occasionally. I know when I've been to Myrtle with him, I find I lose a ton of distance over Arizona. I was hitting 5-iron 175, and in AZ that's just a solid 7-iron. I guess what you're saying makes sense. The wily veterans that "feather" their shots up to the pin seem to make shots more, where those of us hitting it higher struggle to make them. maybe only half a dozen of my eagles were holed out. Nearly all have been putting.
  6. I'd love Beachy just because he has historically owned us
  7. colby, why would you offer Parra at QO? I'd be very afraid he'd take the 1 year, $16 million.
  8. I'd like to see Logan get a look. I was more a Komatsu fan in the minors, but he's long gone. Logan hasn't had a chance to play much. His D looks great, but people judge him based on sporadic pinch hit opportunities. It's not like he was a top prospect. I'd like to see what he can show. Some walks and HR with great D (his MO) sound fine with me
  9. Fondy, I like Fiers a lot, but this trade reminds me of the A's dealing Hudson, Mulder, and Blanton while their value was high. Fact is he's an old, solid, cheap guy
  10. Not sure why the brewers are in a "bad spot." They have 1 day before the first trade deadline, but plenty of moves will occur in August. Lind and Gomez might have peak value now, but Parra and Broxton could be dealt anytime with limited return due to their lack of 2016 contract
  11. Boras has his minions prepping a 73-page document that explains why: -Gomez's hips are not only healthy, but function better than 98.3% of other MLB ballplayers -his hip quality suggests teams would be getting a bargain by acquiring him, as they alone are worth $8 million per year -the Mets are idiots
  12. Gomez hasn't looked quite the same, so perhaps some hip fraying would lead to weaker power at the plate and fewer steals. It'd likely something for off-season surgery that can be managed during the season.
  13. Invader3k, I don't care if we face them. The definition of trade is that both sides are better off. You don't make a trade unless you value your return more than you're giving up. If we obviously value the first situation over the 2nd, then we should do the trade if it's the best possible return. I'd rather focus on maximizing return than worrying about who he plays for Prospects from Cards for up to 1.3 years of controllable, affordable contract with Free Agency to follow
  14. I just like to ask. If I were GM, I'd only be motivated to try to move Lohse, Seggy, Parra, Cotts, and Broxton at this time. I'd be discussing Gomez with his agent. He probably wants a huge deal, but only Gomez, Melvin, and Boras know for sure. Last time he took a discount for security, and perhaps his stated love for Milwaukee is genuine. Yet I know he's probably at peak value right now. Really, my only untouchable is Lucroy. With our pitchers, I've been a huge fan of all these young guys as they've developed. If we are to take the A's/Rays approach, then we should begin entertaining offers for Peralta at mid-season next year, Fiers the years after. They tend to get huge packages for pitchers because they deal them with 2-3 years of control left. On the other hand, I hate to give up young talent before we've milked all we can out of it. With our middle infield depth, I'd also consider moving Scooter if someone is enamored with him. Davis? Well, I was always a doubter in the minors. He exceeded all those expectations. But I'd like to think we can do better in left. In all, I'm curious to see who we trade over the next month or so. I still think we lack OBP-type players.
  15. Brad Kuntz with some Mike Fiers and Mike Strong-like numbers in Maryvale
  16. Lohse has been very good for 2 years and "garbage" for half a season with us. He can be traded in August or September if need be. Might as well see if he gets hot, and see if a team loses a pitcher and needs a veteran for the stretch run
  17. To be honest, I'm not sure where I see the Brewers. They have a solid core and a good looking young rotation. As much as I'd like to take offers on guys, I'd also like to see if there's something to be done to improve the team. In particular, is there any way we could add someone like Carlos Gonzalez (signed for two more years at $18.5/year). Are the Rockies motivated to clear salary? Are they looking for stud prospects? While his salary is a lot...when you factor in Ramirez, Parra, Lohse, and Broxton being cleared off the books for next year, that would off-set it (although salary increases for others would hurt).
  18. I would definitely consider trading with division foes. It's all about getting the best return. So what if it helps a rival?!?
  19. Funketown, no clue. good golfers hit them close, but luck gets them in. I'm 34 and currently about a 2-3 handicap. At my best around age 24 I reached a +1.8 handicap. Eagles were a fairly regular occurrence. I once had a back nine where I eagled two holes. Birdies were pretty common, as I've had several 7-birdie rounds. Still, for all the eagles, just one ace. However, all eagles aren't created equally. In Arizona (where I've lived since I was 22), it's rare when I find a par-5 that isn't reachable in 2 shots from the tips. In Wisconsin, the terrain, water, trees, and general conditions make it much harder to be in position for an eagle. When I was 22 I played with a teenager that was then ranked the number one junior in the world (I think Rickie Fowler was #2). In playing 9 holes, he missed two greens and both wound up in green-side bunkers. In both cases, his sand shots nearly went in. Mind you that I was roughly scratch, and I looked at him in shock and asked "when you're in the bunker, it's almost like you're trying to make the shots." He said he always tries to make bunker shots. He also happened to have his tee-shots on both par-3s hit the pin. I couldn't believe it, and asked, "have you ever had a hole-in-one?" "Seven," he replied (when I last saw him probably 6-7 years later, he was still stuck on 7 aces). Heck, my mom was never better than probably a 14-16 handicap, yet she had 3 aces!
  20. nice to see Nick Shaw (the OBP machine) over the Uecker line. I've held out hope he could develop into a utility IF
  21. Sharkey has nice OBP skills. Can he do much else?
  22. logan, I was viewing it as his GO:FO will likely improve with time given past results in the minors. Plus, if you use percent instead of ratio, you find Jungmann getting 61% of his outs via the ground and Webb getting 74% of his outs on the ground. Jungmann's numbers are what Milwaukee is looking for...Webb's sinker was amazing! Assuming some progression to TJ's minor league ratio and he'd be near 65% of the time. That's still pretty impressive.
  23. Lohse will probably have several more solid-to-good years. Some people just think guys fall off cliffs and bad years are the end of a career. If that were the case, David Ortiz and Albert Pujols would have retired years ago. Jose Bautista and Nelson Cruz would never have gotten 2nd chances.
