  1. This forum would burn to the ground if Mitchell and Small were traded for Candelario. He showed a breakout possibility last year but he still has a career line of .235/.326/.721 slash in 1367 PAs and is already 27. No thanks.
  2. Quick side note on the Dodgers. While the team has not been unlikeable, their fan base is atrocious and I hope they never get another title in my lifetime. I’d rather see the Cubs win another title before them. Story: I took my wife and 6 month old daughter to a Brewer-Dodger game in 2019 at Dodger Stadium. I had my arm in a sling because I had shoulder surgery about a month prior to repair a torn labrum. We were wearing Brewer jerseys. Constant glaring, long eye contact while I have my arm in a sling and my daughter in my other arm and my wife had women Dodger fans in the bathroom giving her and my daughter had a hard time because of the Brewer jersey. Not a friendly hard time either. I’ve been to Wrigley, Busch, Coors, Angels Stadium, Petco, AT&T, and Chase all while wearing Brewers jerseys and never had a similar experience. My family and I were apparently quite the threat to Dodger fans. They’re literally the worst.
  3. Downside would be the mind games that come with coming back to the Crew. The unfortunate reality is that if he gets off to a bad start, the local media... and fans... are going to roast and question him just like his last year here. My point about downside is he is not being signed as the starter. He’s being signed as an insurance policy to Urias/Robertson. Anyone thinking he’s coming back as the 2017-2018 Shaw is not understanding the signing.
  4. Just sign Shaw. Highest upside. Power bat. Backup at 1B/3B. Fan favorite. Won’t cost much. I literally see no downside.
  5. I could write 100% of his stories and he never gets any scoops. Must be the cushiest job in journalism.
  6. What's everyone's Plan B? Spend on starting pitching? Grab another 3rd baseman? Shaw? Franco? Lamb? Gyorko? Shaw. Platoon with Robertson. Urias to SS. Arcia backup.
  7. Pivot. As much as he would’ve been great in Milwaukee, I wouldn’t have loved the contract that was required. Plan B in effect.
  8. I wouldn’t say that he doesn’t want to play for the Brewers. I would say this is indicative the Brewers do have the best offer out and he is weighing leaving his hometown and HIS team and hoping the Dodgers eventually step up their offer. This means he prefers to stay but not that he has animosity about coming to Milwaukee.
  9. And I would be willing to wager he would hit this if given SS the entire season.
  10. #27 http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018/ #24 https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2019-top-100-prospects/ #31 https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/2019-preseason-top-100-prospects/ What do all these projections have in common? Hitting. He knows how to hit and get on base. I get it. It’s projections as a prospect but his meal ticket has always been hitting and getting on base.
  11. Or how someone who has a .308/.397/.830 slash in 2400 PA in the minors doesn’t deserve a shot.
  12. I think this is a good summary of where we are. Brewers have best offer on the table and Turner is waiting to see if Dodgers come back to match or get close to it. I just hope Plan B doesn’t involve Arcia at SS and Robertson as platoon mate at 3B. Urias should be at SS and playing everyday. The only way Urias is playing SS everyday is if he's at Nashville. Urias has done nothing yet to show he's an everyday player in the big leagues and Arcia showed signs at 25 that he just might be coming of age as a player last year. Besides heir to Arcia at shortstop is Turang. Arcia has two more years before he hits FA. By that time Turang would be on schedule to take over. Urias is "slugging" .320 in over 400 major league PA. Arcia slugged .416 in 2020. And Urias already has a better OBP in his career (.315) than Arcia (.295). Look I’d love for Arcia to breakout but how many years are we going to wait for that breakout? if I were to guess who will improve more over the next few seasons, my money is on Urias.

  14. Either. Who are they? Player 1 is Mike Moustakas. Player 2 is Makiel Franco.
  15. I read this tweet from January 2021 as he would be open to a return to Milwaukee. I read it as a No. Bad memories. Because otherwise what part in that statement is he stating he would willing to reunite with MKE? The question was asked if he would return or too many bad memories. "19 was bad but that's in the past. Live and learn" Maybe it's the optimist in me, but I read that as someone who learned to move past the bad of 19 and remember the best times he ever had on a baseball field in 17 and 18. If not, why not just answer the question "17 and 18 were the best times I ever had on a baseball field, but 19 was bad and I think it best to continue my career elsewhere." Maybe I am naive, but I wouldn't close the door on a possible return.

  17. While I tend to agree with you if Turner is out of the picture, I would rather sign Shaw to platoon at 3B with Robertson, and move Urias to SS and let him settle in as the SS of the future. Arcia's time has come and gone IMO and it's time to give Urias SS.
  18. But why Shaw? He wasn't as bad last year as he was in 2019 but he was still pretty terrible for a corner infielder. Because it likely only costs you NRI or Minor League deal and he kills three birds with one stone (backup 3B and 1B, emergency 2B). Whereas the Brewers have to carry Robertson and Vogelbach to address those backup roles now. Not saying its necessarily the smartest, but versatility has proven to be the Brewers MO...and he will still only be 31 this year.
  19. Which player do you want? Player 1: 162 game AVG: 26 HR 81 RBI .251/.310/.753 Player 2: 162 AVG: 25 HR, 86 RBI .252/.304/.737
  20. I am starting to get the feeling that if Turner does not come to Milwaukee, the Brewers will pivot to Travis Shaw. Call it a hunch but I think his versatility to backup 1B/3B and the occasional 2B (in an emergency) over the combination of Vogelbach and Robertson is preferable as it frees up a roster spot. Urias and Shaw splitting 3B and Shaw getting the occasional start at 1B for Hiura isn't the worst thing the Brewers could do if Turner isn't signed.
  21. Mazara at less than $2 million would be preferable to Garcia at $10 million.
  22. If his D plays this well at SS, and I believe that is his natural position, AND he posts this line, he should be your everyday SS. Arcia becomes a piece to add to a trade package to possibly get you a 3B (perhaps to the Reds for Moose and $$). Put another way, Arcia has had an OBP over .334 and OPS over .738 ZERO times.
  23. RHP Josh Sborz is DFA'd to make room for Bauer.
  24. Bauer deal being announced today per Nightengale. Perhaps this makes the Turner market clearer.
  25. If the Cubs flip Bryant for prospects, is it possible or likely, they become a suitor for Turner?
