  1. Yet another proposal where the other team keeps their best hitting and pitching prospects. Until I see a team willing to offer either their top hitter or pitcher in a package, I am keeping Hader.
  2. Give me my "Ryan Braun is returning for 2021 to play 1B" tweet and I will forget about Kevin King.
  3. Having some fun and spitballing here. 2021 is Nolan Arenado's age 30 season. He is signed for 6 years at $199m with an opt-out after this season. If Arenado would agree to not opt-out after 2021, and the Rockies would cover say $49m of the deal, would you trade Hader straight up for him? Brewers would be on the hook for 6 years and $150m of an elite middle of the order bat and elite defender to pair with Yelich for the next half-decade. The Rockies not only get out from under the big contract, but they get an elite reliever they could flip if need be. Yelich and Arenado combined would be owed ~$50m annually. Can the Brewers surround them with enough talent giving that much $ to two players?
  4. 1 year $18 million is Yasmani Grandal money. If the Brewers are investing $18m per year in a player, even on a one year deal, Marcus Semien is not my choice.
  5. Would love this move. Couple it with Semien and the lineup is stretched significantly. Cain-Yelich-Hiura-Rosario-Semien-Narvaez/Pina-1B-Urias with Woodruff and Burnes at the top and Williams and Hader at the back has potential.
  6. This pretty much sums up my feelings on the situation. Every player has a price, Burnes included. However, it is imperative for small market teams like the Brewers to develop homegrown Aces because they simply aren't available to them in FA. Because of this fact alone, trading Burnes and the potential that he becomes an Ace, would require such a ridiculous overpay from another team that it becomes extremely unlikely, nearly impossible. Vaughn, Madrigal, and Kopech would be mandatory if I were Stearns and that isn't happening.
  7. My thoughts exactly. In NFL, solid management allows the Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Kansas City teams to perennial contenders whereas the New York, Los Angeles and Chicago teams cannot buy their way out of mismanagement. Another example of how abhorrently poor MLB Executives have been since baseballs inception but more specifically since the 1994 strike.
  8. I still like the idea of trading Hader to the White Sox for a package centered around Andrew Vaughn. Perhaps Vaughn and Kopech for Hader with the Brewers throwing a low level prospect back Chicago's way. Vaughn's bat appears to have both AVG and power in it and would potentially solve 1B for the next decade.
  9. If the A's wanted to get really crazy and fill some pretty big Brewer holes, I would have a lot of interest in an Olson and Chapman deal. I have no clue what they would want or what would be realistic, but I would be willing to part with Garrett Mitchell, Turang, Peralta and one of Small or Ashby if it meant keeping Burnes and Woodruff. A middle of the lineup of Hiura-Yelich-Chapman-Olson looks quite nice paired with Burnes-Woodruff at the top of the rotation.
  10. Lesson learned...Never doubt Snapper's source.
  11. While I like the idea of Semian, I do have my doubts on whether he's worth the 3 years 39M - at least for a team like the Brewers? He's been a solid offensive player throughout his career, but that 2019 season really sticks out as somewhat of an anomaly. In fact, I think we are starting to see that with a bunch of guys around the league who had career years last year (see Narvaez) due to the "juiced" baseball. So, that would scare me a bit with a guy like Semian and giving him a 3 year deal like that. You raise a very good point. If I am the Brewers I look to surround Yelich and Hiura with high contact and high average type players like Jeff McNeil of the Mets. Not the sexiest of players in terms of power, but I think this type of player is very overlooked in the current game and may be a key to unlocking the teamwide Brewers slumps of 2020. Essentially, be what Eric Sogard was supposed to be (and never really was).
  12. Marcus Semien is the guy I have my eye on. He’s only one year removed from a MVP-type season and has been a relatively consistent bat for a number of years. Give him 3 years $39m and see what he looks like hitting in front of Yelich.
  13. How can this be 20 years ago already? I miss the simplicity of that stadium and stadiums like it.
  14. At the risk of being called an alarmist, is it time to consider moving Hiura if you were offered something of value? The holes in his swing, the defensive liability in the field...dare I say he may be the Khris Davis of the IF? We were sold on his hitting acumen, but what good is hitting acumen if you’re striking out 35% of the time and hitting in the low .200s? I get that Yelich is doing the same but he’s had back-to-back batting titles prior to his knee injury and COVID season. If the White Sox offered a high contact, low power Nick Madrigal and Andrew Vaughn for 1B for Hiura (for some reason)+ I would have to say I would take it. I’m personally tired of the 3TO baseball we’re playing.
  15. Great idea to steal there with Yelich still scuffling. I wasn’t expecting it and getting a lead for Houser is important. Unfortunate outcome.
  16. I literally just text a friend that even with an average offense this season they are likely 4-5 games better than what they are currently. Even without Sonny Gray on the mound, a 2-0 lead feels insurmountable with the garbage offense Stearns put together in 2020.
  17. relax, roxane. Funny Seems like a lot of others are concerned as well. As was mentioned earlier, it’s not just the lack of counting stats. It’s the way he appears to those who watch daily. Swinging through fastballs and taking breaking pitches down the middle aren’t things were used to seeing. The biggest concern to me appears to be the lack of discipline at the plate and chasing outside the zone, which he rarely did in 2018 and 2019. I by no means am advocating a trade and think it would be foolish to do so. But Yelich has a substantial amount of work to do in the offseason it would appear.

  20. Not much more to the question outside of the subject title. I can’t for the life of me remember an amazing superstar like Christian Yelich, in the prime of his career, look as lost as he currently does now. Does anyone else remember another superstar in their prime going through a slump as bad as this one? Is it time to be concerned this, or something close to it, is the new Yelich?
