  1. Seat is not hot by any means, but he's under the microscope for 2021. Not at all hot. But his offensive signings have been done for awhile and we are supposed to accept him as genius. Been a pretty atrocious offseason and that includes Yelich extension.
  2. Can we talk about how Stearns TT’d this year’s Brewers? Smartest man in the room with Sogard, Gyorko, Smoak, Holt signings. DFA’s Holt and allows Claudio to keep a job?
  3. I’d be glad if the Reds wanted to rid themselves of Castellanos and Moose’s contract and left them in Milwaukee after today.
  4. i just don’t understand why Hader wasn’t already in there with his limited workload. The whole team is slumping including Counsell.
  5. I would love this. He always has reminded me of Yelich of the Marlins. I have no expectation of him becoming Yelich of the Brewers, but think he could be a very good fit in Milwaukee without the spotlight of the Boston media.
  6. Callis is speculating everyone drafted today will sign.
  7. I wonder why Cole Wilcox is still on the board?
  8. While I know nothing about him or Casey Martin other than reading about them online, this just seems like another Alcides Escobar and Orlando Arcia. I would have preferred taking the higher ranked Martin and going that route.
  9. Based on reviewing MLB.com, I am hoping for one of SPs JT Ginn or Cole Wilcox or SS Casey Martin. If they all pan out, the speed of the offense with Mitchell in CF, Turang at SS and Martin at 3B would be insane on the IF.
  10. Agreed with this. It would be very strange to see #8 on the back of a different Brewer in the future. Much like for Packers fans of the same era, seeing #80 worn by Justin Perillo, Martellus Bennett or Jimmy Graham.
  11. I can respect that opinion of lost honors as a result of unethical conduct and would not argue that it is wrong. To me though, McGwire not wanting to talk about the past and Bonds and Sosa never acknowledging anything, makes Braun stand out even more given his acceptance of his suspension, his apology and his work in the community to make amends for those actions. As I said previously, with not a lot of great history on the Brewers side, I tend to think they retire it given Braun’s career statistics.
  12. Well done. Essentially that is my point. Had Braun simply gone the Barry Bonds route and didn’t own his mistakes, then all the stats in the world couldn’t get me to retire #8. The fact that he didn’t go into hiding after his suspension and has so visibly been using his fame to help others, coupled with his statistics, makes me think retiring #8 is the correct move.
  13. And my point was that his philanthropic efforts have more than made up for his PED use and suspension. It’s been 7 years since his suspension, and there is no way we can guess when he started and when/if he stopped using. I assume he’s been tested as often as possible under the CBA since that 2011 failed test. Regardless, 2,000 hits and 350 HR should get your number retired especially on a franchise that retired Rollie Fingers number, has a soft retirement on Gantner and retired a uniform number for Bud Selig.
  14. I'm over it just fine, thanks. But the question was who will have their number retired next. My response is that every single player who has their number retired by the Brewers is in the Hall of Fame. Braun has a 0.00% chance of making the Hall of Fame, and the above is why. Hence, I think it'd be shocking if his number gets retired. I could see them doing an unofficial 'retiring' like they did for Gantner, though. Not going to argue but every post of yours in the thread related to Braun references his PED use. I respect your thoughts on HOF being the cut off point. Counterpoint, he’d be the only MVP to not have his number retired (save Yelich for obvious reasons). Gantner...don’t get me started with that guy. The fact that 17 hasn’t been worn is only because he’s from Fond du Lac. If he was from Raleigh, North Carolina, his career would be remembered quite differently.
  15. Was Rollie involved in multiple PED scandals that I'm unaware of? I'll be absolutely shocked if Braun's number is retired. Dude get over it. He made the mistake. It stinks. Instead of focusing on a mistake from almost a decade ago, pay more attention to Ryan Braun’s philanthropic efforts in California Strong and the money he is donating to COVID-19 response. Braun’s number should absolutely be retired. He’ll likely have over 2,000 hits and over 350 HR, the franchise leader, when he retires.
  16. For those looking for authentic new Brewers jerseys, MLBShop.com has a 30% off sale right now. Still pricey but you can get a Yelich in home or home alternate for under $300.
  17. Playing The Show 20 and a few thoughts came to mind about the stadium and the helmets. Specifically, in The Show they still have the retired #s in the font of the previous uniform set (Times New Roman). The number decals on the back of the helmet are still in that font as well. Finally, I didn’t see any flag delineating the 2019 team as a wild card team. Anybody have any insight on the above and potential changes? I’m sure the number decal on the back of the helmet willl change, but the other two I haven’t heard anything about.
  18. I'll preface my comment by saying I know that there are things going on that are way more important than baseball, and I understand that, and I agree that what they're doing is the right thing. That being said, the baseball fan in me can still take the time to feel like..... man, it really sucks that we're losing a half a year (or more) of Yelich in his prime. Think about the Angels. They have Mike Trout, easily the best player of this generation, and maybe one of the top 5 players ever when it's all said and done (if he stays on the track he's on) and they're losing a huge chunk of a full season of a prime aged season from him. Like I said, I know it's just baseball, and it doesn't matter much in the great scheme of things, but it's still there. It's not just baseball anymore. It represents everything that was great about the normal life we took for granted. I miss the days when Christian Yelich's inevitable departure from the Brewers took up way too much of brain's free time. Give me those days back!
  19. Trying to stay on baseball topics (as BF.net is an outlet to this horrifically scary situation): I wonder how this will ultimately impact baseball contracts if this season were to be canceled? Would all players still make their 2020 salary? Would FAs-to-be after 2020 like Ryan Braun still be FAs? I assume the answer will be players will be paid and seasons will be accrued as if the season were played, but I gotta say that the players really make out in that scenario whereas the owners get the short end given the lack of revenue from gameday. Will be interesting to see the outcome.
  20. 9 years, $215m if my math is correct. Could be 10 years $228m if 2029 option is agreed to. EDIT: 9 years, $217m, so 10 years $230m. Thank you for taking the discount Christian!
  21. Agreed. I’m simply saying the option of Rendon is there by trading for Arenado.
  22. I still think that option is still available to you if you want to take on the entirety of Nolan Arenado’s contract. If you do that, I don’t think the prospect return to Colorado will be that substantial.
  23. Let's get crazy... Could the Brewers afford Arenado for this year and next now that they have cost certainty long-term with Yelich? Even in the highly unlikely event Arenado doesn't opt-out after next season, the Brewers would certainly receive some salary relief in the acquisition (he's owed $70m over the next two seasons). I guess the question is if the Brewers were on the hook for $50m for the next two seasons, could/should they do it?
  24. 7 years, $188.5 per the link. Combined with 2 years, $26.5m left and the total is 9 years, $215m. Unreal. I never thought I would be so happy for someone else getting $200m+.
