  1. Amen! It is hard to fathom that this could be the last four games of Brewers baseball until February. Come on Crew!
  2. Let's soak this all in while we can Brewer fans. Regardless of what happens this weekend, there will be October baseball in Milwaukee in 2018. While the Cubs winning today stinks, its exciting that we have this weekend ahead of us with a guarantee of the playoffs afterwards. Go Crew!
  3. Cubs broadcasters are also bad. Super homers - at least Rock and BA acknowledge when we get a break with the strike zone. I absolutely cannot stand Ron Coomer, Mike Shannon & John Rooney. They are the biggest homers in the world and show a total inability to put their rooting interests aside and being blatantly biased. Case in point...I am watching the game and listening to the Cubs radio broadcast. In the 7th inning where Gyorko's error allowed the Cubs runners to move up. Bryant was a step and a half away from the base when Gyorko threw the ball and Coomer was saying this call is very close and that he might get awarded home. DUDE WAS A STEP AND A HALF AWAY. That's not remotely close. I don't mind rooting but blatantly misleading is the definition of poor announcing.
  4. Wow the Cardinals defense is awful. If we didn't need them to win, this would be amazingly hilarious to watch.
  5. Come on Cardinals (where's Dead Simmons)... You ripped our hearts out in 1982. You ripped our hearts out in 2011. You came back from a 6-0 deficit in 2017 and eliminated us from making the playoffs last year. YOU OWE US!
  6. Agreed. I believe this in all sports as well, not just baseball. Every division winner should make the playoffs, but of the 3 division winners and 2 wild cards, the teams with the worst two records should be in the play-in game.
  7. Say you’re the Cubs and the Wild Card game is Dodgers-Brewers. Who are you rooting for? I am of the opinion that regardless of where the Brewers-Cubs would square off, that series would go the distance. With the Dodgers having to throw Kershaw in a Wild Card game, are the Cubs really that afraid of that rotation and bullpen? I honestly think the Cubs would rather face the Dodgers than the Brewers.
  8. Win-Loss Record: 8-8 Division Series: 3-1 win Rockies Championship Series: 4-3 win Dodgers World Series: 4-1 loss Astros Offensive MVP: Christian Yelich Pitching MVP: Jhoulys Chacin Most Surprising Player: Curtis Granderson Most Disappointing Player: Mike Moustakas
  9. Regardless of rooting interest, the Cubs have an absolutely brutal 4 game stretch against a super hot SP (Williams) and their arch-nemesis who are fighting for their playoff lives. I really believe the Cardinals will take 2 of 3 from the Cubs. If the Brewers take care of business and just win the series from the Tigers, the Pirate game tonight will be the deciding factor in who wins the division.
  10. At this point, I am not rooting to face anyone in particular. The playoffs are another animal and as we saw in 2011, the most talented team doesn't always win. I am simply rooting for the Brewers to win the Division and go as far as possible. A one game playoff for this team scares me due to our lack of a TOR SP. The Divisional Series or Championship Series scare me far less as the depth this team has is what is vital to their success and I am confident against any team in the NL. Color me scared of Kershaw or Freeland in the WC game.
  11. I'll maintain my pre-trade deadline stance into the offseason. Mets have had a good second half & have some interesting young pieces, but this year they've gotten 675 innings of 3.00 ERA work from deGrom, Thor, Wheeler & Matz and they're still in 4th place. I'll take the under on that inning total & the over on that ERA mark for the same quartet next year if the Mets stand pat. I liken the Mets to the 2001-2002 Bucks. Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson, Sam Cassell, Tim Thomas, Anthony Mason (yes I know)...all the talent in the world yet there is something that doesn't mesh there. Their chemistry is just...off. Maybe it's the hitting but a shakeup of some kind is needed.
  12. As much fun as it would be to see the Cubs go home for October, I just cannot bring myself to not want the Brewers to stomp the Cardinals tonight. Amen to that! Then let's root for the Brewers to sweep the rest of the season, win the division, have the Cubs-Cards be an elimination series and the winner lose to the NL West runner-up in the Wild Card. Solving the world's problems over here
  13. If the Brewers win tonight, they will win #91 and St. Louis will lose #71. This clinches at worst a tie with the Cardinals. If the Rockies also lose, that will be loss #71 for them as well and clinches at worst a tie with them as well. While this wouldn't "clinch" anything, it would mean the Brewers would have to lose out and the Cardinals and/or the Rockies win out to tie them. EDIT: JINX T Plush The Cubs are a 100% chance to make the playoffs according to fangraphs. I definitely didn't figure out that mathematically the Cubs can still miss the playoffs and I'm also definitely not trying for a reverse jinx. The way I understand it, FanGraphs projections are based on likelihood of making the playoffs. Mathematically the Cubs could still miss the playoffs if: -The Cardinals win out (92-70) -The Rockies win out (92-70) -The Brewers win 2/3 or sweep Tigers (92-70 or 93-69) -The Dodgers win 4/5 or win out (92-70 or 93-69) -The Cubs lose out (91-71) However, the Cubs could clinch tonight if they win tonight and the Cardinals or Rockies lose.
  14. That was a magical moment. The season where Brett Favre's dad died and felt like everything was falling into place for a truly otherworldly playoff run...up until 4th and 26.
  15. EDIT: JINX T Plush
  16. Assuming the Brewers hold the #1 WC spot... How about we start rooting for a Rockies-Cardinals tie for the second Wild Card and a Freeland-Mikolas tiebreaker the day before the Wild Card? Burn those two pitchers and the Brewers face Jon Gray, Tyler Anderson, Antonio Senzatela or German Marquez from the Rockies or Jack Flaherty, John Gant, Austin Gomber or Adam Wainwright from the Cardinals? Of course with the devil magic, Wainwright will revert to prime Wainwright right before the postseason. Man I hate that team
  17. One of my favorite non-Brewers players. Remember around the 2008 timeframe I was dreaming of how we could get Wright to Milwaukee to go with Braun-Fielder-Weeks-Hardy-Hart.
  18. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=harris000mon I want the Marlins to be made whole because of how great Yelich has been for us but man...215 strikeouts!
  19. I think in an ideal world, the Brewers would have the following schedule: 1. Win the Division with the best record in the NL; 2. Cubs lose to the Rockies in the NL Wild Card; 3. Brewers beat the Rockies in the NLDS; 4. Braves beat the Dodgers in the NLDS; and 5. Brewers beat the Braves in the NLCS The Brewers pitching staff matches up better with the Braves and Rockies than the Dodgers, who are the only team in the NL with an SP I am afraid of (Kershaw) regardless of playoff history. Rivalry series, Cubs and Cardinals, while fun are always toss ups regardless of record. I would prefer to avoid those as a result.
  20. From Josh Hader's notes on my ESPN Fantasy Baseball page: Not sure it really clarifies specifically why in this case but it was the scorer's discretion.
  21. What are everyone's thoughts about record deciding home field? Let's say for the sake of argument, the Cubs finish in second in the NL Central behind the Brewers but have the second best record in the NL. The Cubs win the Wild Card game but have a better record than the NL West and NL East division winners. Why shouldn't they have home field advantage in the Division Series? No it doesn't diminish the NL West and East division winners as they still made the playoffs. I think record should count for something and it's entirely possible that the 3rd place team in the NL Central has the 3rd best record in the NL.
  22. Yes. Yes he did. I was at Wrigley for that. It was glorious.
  23. This, perhaps more than anything, is one of the more annoying things I have found being a Wisconsin sports fan. The opinion that Illinois, Chicago in particular, is a simply a higher class of people than the neanderthals that live in Wisconsin. Being a Wisconsin sports fan who was born and has lived his entire life outside of Los Angeles (I am in my mid-30s), I find it comical that so many Chicago natives have such little self-awareness that they are lumped together with Wisconsinites, Michiganders, Indianans and Minnesotans as Midwesterners by a majority of the country. I can't stand the Vikings, Cardinals and Buckeyes, but by no means do I identify as a higher class of citizen because I am from California and they are from Minnesota, Missouri and Ohio. This to me permeates Chicagoan way of thinking as it pertains to their fandom. We're better because we're better people than you. It's pretty detestable behavior.
  24. Are you secretly Ken Rosenthal? Good call! I am HighHeat19 Post of the year!!
