  1. My cousin in Wisconsin (casual baseball fan) asked me about why Trout got this deal when he has made the playoffs once. I likened it to the Packers with TT as GM. The ineptitude of the Angels GM to build a pitching staff around Trout is the equivalent of TT trying to build a defense around Rodgers. Signing guys like Matt Harvey, Cody Allen, do nothing to move the needle to get the Angels in competition with the Yankees and Red Sox.
  2. As a side note, I went to Friday's game between the Brewers and the Diamondbacks. What was speculated about the M with barley tarp being temporary was correct. Now there is a American Family Fields of Phoenix tarp at that location. Only question I have...Why the tarp?
  3. While I disagree with your opinion on the ball and glove logo, I agree to an extent with your opinion of the M with barley. If not for the existence of the ball and glove, I would be very content with the M with barley, as I have grown quite fond of it. My issue with the M with barley has always been the uniform and the script used that says "Brewers" or "Milwaukee" and the use of Times New Roman for the name/number font. The uniforms need a serious adjustment if the M with barley is to remain the primary logo in the future.
  4. Everything I have read says the rotation is Chacin-Anderson-Davies and two open spots between Burnes, Woodruff and Peralta. I am good with this as I think us fans tend to forget how good Davies can be when he is right. Looking at 2016-2017, Davies made 61 starts and pitched to a line of 3.93 ERA, 1.3 WHIP and a 4.07 FIP. Certainly not world beating but definitely worthy of a #4 or #5 spot in the rotation. Additionally, while we are all excited over the potential of Burnes, Woodruff and Peralta, Davies is only 26 and just 3 days older than Woodruff.
  5. This opinion is so tired. Placing everyone into one category because it fits your perspective about why people like it is incredibly narrow-minded.
  6. I will reiterate what I said earlier in this thread. The thought of signing Keuchel to a big deal scares the heck out of me strictly because of what we saw with Cobb and Lynn last year and their late signings. Now, there are others who have signed late and performed, Kyle Lohse for one. The Astros had great luck signing Roger Clemens in May of 2006 and the Yankees had good luck with signing a retired Andy Pettitte in March 2012. Which one will Keuchel be? If the Brewers choose to go down this path, I would hope they keep Keuchel in extended spring training until May 1 and allow Keuchel the appropriate time to get ready for the season.
  7. This may have had something to do with the Brewers having an expanded roster for the month he was with them. I think the leash would be significantly longer if he were to be re-signed.
  8. Could very well be. If this is truly much ado about nothing, I will still find it odd that the historical jersey number wall doesn't use the current Brewers Times New Roman font. To me, that is the biggest hint of all of an upcoming change.
  9. The font of numbers on the historical jersey wall is not in the public eye. I doubt they are trying to fit a desert motif behind closed doors. It makes zero sense for those not to be in the current number font i.e. Times New Roman
  10. You quite obviously have never been to San Diego
  11. Great point Plush. I sent a question to Adam McCalvy regarding this during the hoopla of the opening of the park and didn't hear anything back.
  12. Honestly, I do not think it will really matter as the Brewers will certainly use both. I foresee the royal & yellow and navy & yellow being used with one being the main logo and the other being the alternate. I for one prefer the royal and yellow, simply from it being the historical Brewers logo and colors. No, it has nothing to do with this being the logo from their hey day. It has everything to do with the royal & yellow being the Brewers to me. As I mentioned in another thread, what I am anticipating the Brewers changing to with the uniform is hiding in plain sight at American Family Fields of Phoenix. Look at the number and name font on the walk of fame leading to the stadium. Look at the historical number wall. Look at the font on the welcoming sign to the stadium. None of these fonts have been used previously in Milwaukee and are the most prominent feature in Maryvale. Shouldn't all of this be in the Times New Roman font if the uniform were remaining the same? Based on what I am seeing, I absolutely love the new new number and name font. Much better than the Times New Roman of the M with barley uniforms and more unique than the ball and glove font.
  13. I would assume that is to fit in with the desert motif of Arizona. I can't imagine the Brewers FO being that tone deaf to return to the ball and glove and then change the colors of the team to incorporate a red tone. Put more succinctly, it was a disaster from 1994-1999 and it would be again in 2020.
  14. Gotta be the Braves. Especially with news out of their camp that Foltynewicz, Gausman and Gohara are dealing with injuries, as well as the NL East getting unbelievably better this offseason. The Braves may be the fourth best team right now. They probably need to sign Keuchel AND Kimbrel to get back on par with the Nationals and Phillies.
  15. https://twitter.com/JimBowdenGM/status/1101209575737516033 10 years $330 million Unreal EDIT: 13 years $330 million
  16. I want the Brewers to stay far, far away. Roll with Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta... Cobb, Lynn and Holland from last season have scared me off signing Keuchel this far into spring.
  17. I am really buying into the narrative that he doesn't want to be on the east coast and the Phillies will have to substantially outbid the Dodgers or Giants to get him to go there. In fact, I think the Dodgers are his preferred choice but are just a little bit below what the Giants are in terms of years and dollars and that is the only thing that is preventing Harper signing at this point. My previous post says Harper eventually will be in Dodger blue for 8 years $304 million, but I am guessing the current offers are roughly: -Giants is 10 years $325 million -Dodgers is 8 years $275 million The Dodgers will eventually meet Harper roughly half way and beat Machado's deal.
  18. For my money, Harper will be a Dodger and it will be for 8 years at $304 million. Highest annual AAV ever ($38m) and tops Macahdo's $300 million guarantee. Won't get Stanton's $325 million but who cares.
  19. https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/02/21/top-100-mlb-players-2019-bryce-harper-manny-machado-mike-trout?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=sinow&utm_medium=social&xid=socialflow_twitter_si I won't ruin the surprise for you with the placements of Brewers. However, something of interest: 6 Brewers are on the list 7 former Brewers/Brewers prospects are on the list Without doing the research, gotta wonder if that is the most for a team.
  20. Living in Los Angeles and being friends with a significant amount of Dodger fans...I would say your assessment is correct. Listening to sports radio and discussing with Dodger fans, it seemed like Machado was a hired gun and never really was embraced by the team or fan base. In regard to the fan base, he turned off a lot of people with the Johnny Hustle comment and the Aguilar kick.
  21. Pure speculation by the Twitter poster but re-tweeted by Phil Hecken (Uni-Watch). The content of the tweet was something I had been thinking as well. The fact that a completed new stadium uses a tarp with the M with barley on the main entrance seems peculiar. Additionally, the font of the names and numbers leading to the field don't match anything the Brewers currently use. Definitely worth keeping an eye on... They are still the Milwaukee "Brewers" so barley and an M make perfect sense to me. Oh I hear you...Definitely still makes "sense". However, a $65 million stadium upgrade that is "complete" but a cheap tarp sign for the main entrance? Seems like a placeholder to me. Perhaps I am reading too far into it but there are some definite clues that lead one to believe change is coming.

  23. The National League is going to be an absolute bloodbath. There are three tiers of legitimate playoff contenders this season and they encompass almost the entire league. TIER #1: FAVORITE NL WEST -Dodgers Likely to be the #1 seed simply because they are a cut above everyone else in their division and the other divisions have multiple competitors. TIER #2: DIVISION CONTENDERS NL CENTRAL -Brewers, Cubs, Cardinals NL EAST -Nationals, Mets, Phillies, Braves Would it really surprise you if any combination of these teams won their division? TIER #3: POTENTIAL WILD CARD CONTENDERS -Rockies, Padres, Reds, Pirates Not including the Division Contenders, I could see any of the 4 teams above contending IF all things broke right for them. The only teams I don't see having a shot this season are the Giants, Diamondbacks and Marlins. I wouldn't be surprised if 88-90 wins gets you both the NL Central and East. The talent is spread relatively evenly. Going to be a fun 2019.
