  1. This 100%. The prospect of renting Trevor Story could approach the cost to acquire Nolan Arenado given the disparity in control/supposed albatross of a contract. Now imagine a healthy and return to form lineup that is inclusive of Yelich-Arenado in the 3-4 holes. I will assume the Brewers would have still signed Wong, not signed JBJ and may or may not have signed Shaw. Regardless, the potential to have had a lineup that included: Wong-Cain-Yelich-Arenado-Narvaez-Hiura-Garcia-Urias, while not significantly impacting the already depleted minor league system, would look a lot better than what they are running out there on May 18, 2021.
  2. It’s not a question of production. When he’s healthy Cain produces. Even this year he has quietly snuck up to a slash line of .222/.338/.395. for an OPS of .734 Even with his batting average 65 points below his career mark, his OBP is only ten points below his career mark. His slugging percentage is 13 points below his career mark. I think it’s safe to say he’s going to hit better than .226, so he should therefore eclipse his career averages for OBP and SLG% if he’s healthy and in the lineup. Watching Cain in the early part of the homestand versus the Cardinals, versus the latter part of the homestand versus the Braves, it appears Cain has adjusted his swing plane. Watching the Cardinals series, it appeared Cain was uppercutting everything. His approach was much more Lorenzo Cain in the Braves series. Not simply the results, but the swings themselves. If you have MLB Extra Innings, watch the approach and tell me if you see the same thing I saw.
  3. Trea Turner would be a dream to get on this team. He always struck me as the poor man's Mike Trout if he could ever stay healthy. Career .300 hitter and 162 game average of 24 HR and 50 SB. He truly is one of the more underappreciated superstars (yes superstar) in the game. If the Brewers could extend him, I would pretty much clear the farm system to get him.
  4. Anderson and Schroeder again with the company man speak on this game. Brewers are so injured...they were 17-10 at the same time.
  5. It’s honestly time to look at Counsell. He be hired tomorrow if fired but he’s the leader of a team that literally cannot hit and full of players who did so before him. If he wasn’t from Whitefish Bay we’d all be calling for his head.
  6. Look. I get that hitters have to hit. But they apparently have no game plan. That’s on Haines. At this point, just bring Hiura back up and let him struggle. What’s the difference
  7. Give me about 3 hours to mull it over. Deal!! Feel like I got a winner regardless Hey Magnolia. I’m on the next flight to Mississippi to collect.
  8. Give me about 3 hours to mull it over. Deal!! Feel like I got a winner regardless
  9. Who wants to take bets on whether the game is actually over? Brewers scoring 3 against Ian Anderson is 99% improbable.
  10. Are you suggesting I can play on the Brewers?! I think I can OPS around .100 which is almost good enough to be a regular!
  11. This team is my least favorite team I’ve rooted for in 39 years. I cannot stand the lifeless effort and the lack of offensive fundamentals they display. Yes I remember 2002. This team had expectations and high dollar talent. That team had nothing.
  12. Imagine having a team that is smart enough to bunt your #5 hitter to get a run.
  13. Not a diehard fan. At this rate, 1 run feels like the game is over. Counsell Haines or someone needs to take the fall at this point. This team is dead.
  14. The company man announcing of Anderson and Schroeder is pretty annoying tonight.
  15. This is a well reasoned and well written post despite my disagreement with the position. I do not believe that Stearns is infallible in his decision making and agree that right now the trade is heavily in favor of the Padres. That is undeniable. What I will say is that I also remember JJ Hardy coming up to the Majors in 2005 as a 23 year old kid and barely being able to hit. In fact, looking it up on Baseball Reference, through his first 70 games in 2005, in 223 PAs/191 ABs, he slashed .194/.297/.574. Hardy went on to be a good ballplayer for the next decade. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=hardyjj01&t=b&year=2005 In comparison, Urias is also 23 and, as a Brewer, has 241 PAs/212 ABS and a slash of .217/.304/.620. The guy Hardy was traded for did something quite similar in his first two seasons in Milwaukee. Gomez slashed .238/.288/.666 in his first 576 PAs/522 ABs as a Brewer https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gomezca01.shtml Is Urias going to be the next Hardy or Gomez? Who knows? My point is solely that some players take a bit more time than others and Urias may just be another one of those guys that takes a season or two to figure it out before breaking out. I just think the microscope, spotlight and lack of patience from fans are on all Brewers right now due to atrocious offensive start and more so than normal on Urias due to Grisham's play in San Diego.
  16. What is more likely to win the Brewers a World Series? The 2021 version of the Milwaukee Brewers, where they have three SP pitching like Aces, multiple gold gloves on the field but have difficulty scoring. or The 2011 version of the Milwaukee Brewers, where they have sluggers like that can score at will, but are butchers in the field and rely on an average rotation who can and will give back the lead created by the offense. I am not asking you to compare 2021 to 2011 specifically (e.g. Woodruff, Burnes, and Peralta > Gallardo, Greinke, and Marcum). Nor am I asking you what team will have more wins. I am asking what is the more likely combination to end the Brewers World Series drought. I know 2011 was more fun to root for so far than 2021.
  17. Counsell and Stearns are going to lose the fanbase with too many more performances like this. Pitching gives up 1 run and it feels like the game is over.
  18. I understand Goldschmidt is a stud, but I am guessing at worst he gets a sac fly here. Watch the approach vs/ Brewers approach in similar situations.
  19. I'm glad I can come here and not hear about the hitting coach for once. Why does the casual fan always think its the hitting coaches fault when guys don't hit? It's approach to me. It's the launch angle revolution bologna that everyone has bought into. Imagine Molitor, Boggs or Gwynn facing these shifts. They might have hit .450.
  20. You think they are not trying? I think they do not adjust their approach to fit the situation. It appears Garcia and Narvaez were both trying to hit HR.
