  1. Why they can't just let Peterson go is beyond me. He can take a walk, other than that he is useless. At least Hernan can swing it a little. The end of the bench with Reyes and Peterson is just so bad...
  2. Or let's claim him and send down the recently promoted Jace Peterson.
  3. Thanks for the clarification. Let's claim him then and send Reyes down. Right now, Vogelbach/Shaw at 1B, Urias/Robertson at 2B, Adames/Robertson at SS and Shaw/Robertson is the way to go in the IF until Wong comes back. I would rather have Narvaez, Pina or Nottingham being able to pinch hit than the extra IF (Reyes) who really shouldn't see the field over Vogelbach, Shaw, Urias, Adames and Robertson.
  4. Now clear waivers, sign with the Brewers, and head to Triple AAA for depth to be the defensive catcher whenever Manny Pina retires.
  5. I was having this dialogue with myself earlier today as it relates to Yelich and the long term maintenance on his back. Would playing first with the picks and scoops and fast twitch reactions be better to prolong his career or would playing the OF? This all assumes he would be serviceable as a defender at 1B. My thought is whatever will give better rest to that back is where he should go.
  6. Absolutely agree with this. I am sitting on Hiura in my NL Only dynasty fantasy league and I suggest the Brewers do the same. The only way a deal of Hiura would make sense is if it were for an equally heralded prospect that may have had his star tarnished within that organization. Jo Adell would make some sense with Cain's age, JBJ's ineffectiveness and Garcia's uncertain future, but that would be a risky move on both the Brewers and Angels parts as it could massively blow up in either's face.
  7. At least he will be entertaining. Adames and Perez in the dugout together will be fun. If they could only get Aguilar back...
  8. Last time I looked his launch angle was pretty close to the same as 2019 but now I look at 2021 is 19.4 and 2019 was 16.4 Maybe I read it wrong the first time. But your eyes are seeing what I'm seeing. He's got a very loopy swing this year. Right shoulder/elbow is dropping way down. I was watching the game with my Dad on Saturday and there was a clip of Haines working with Hiura in the cage pregame and we both noted that Hiura's first move to the ball in the cage was his back (right) shoulder immediately dropping before swinging. His mechanics are messed up pretty badly.
  9. Sidebar... It's a pet peeve of mine with baseball and prediction models that use run differential as a projection tool. How can a model accurately predict anything when a team could go 6-1 in a week, winning 6 games by 2 (+12) runs each game and getting blown out by 10 runs (-10) in the one loss, have only a +2 run differential and say they're playing essentially at a .500 clip? Run differential alone is the worst predictive model IMO.
  10. Look how flat the swing is, compared to now, in that YouTube video!
  11. Hiura is going to have to completely revamp his swing in order to be successful. Doing away with the high leg kick and uppercut swing would be all I would work on the rest of the year with him. Sara Goodrum should be living in Nashville while he's down there. A trade that might make some sense is Hiura + for Mancini. While a cult favorite in Baltimore, they would probably do well to move Mancini, especially if they believe they can fix Hiura. Hiura would fit their anticipated competitive window much better than the 29 year old Mancini.
  12. Cardinals - 40 Cubs - 40 Reds - 10 Pirates - 10 Since 1998, there has simply been nothing truly hateable about the Reds and Pirates. Cardinals should be head and shoulders #1 IMO. If they were from Chicago and the Cubs were from St. Louis, I think we would look at the Cubs in a similar vein to the Reds and Pirates.
  13. Donaldson for Bradley in a vacuum for the Brewers certainly would be a win. Just to see how poor his start has been, Bradley currently has a .160 AVG (26/173). If he were to end up at 450 ABs on the season, in order to get to .220, he would have to go 73/247 or hit .295 the rest of the way. If he were to end up at 500 ABs on the season, he would have to go 84/337 or hit .249 the rest of the way.
  14. The funny thing about this trade is that I don't see any way the Brewers trade JBJ. They signed him specifically for his defense, and while his offense has been abysmal, I guess they believe he will turn it around to be at least serviceable at the plate the rest of the way. (Is it possible for him to get his AVG to the .220 range for the season?) Donaldson certainly will be a target but I would rather the Twins throw more salary back than having to include JBJ.
  15. Luis Urias since May 21 (date of Adames trade): 36 PA, 33 AB, .303/.361/.997, 3 HR, 7 RBI Luis Urias since May 12 (week + prior to trade): 59 PA, 51 AB, .275/.356/.905, 4 HR, 10 RBI On the season he has 176 PA & 150 AB, so he's been quite good for about 1/3 of the season and is trending up. Let's make that Grisham trade look even at worst!
  16. While I agree that the Brewers need to beat the teams like that DBacks that they should beat, I don't think what the Cubs are currently doing with more than 100 games to go in the season has any bearing on that. Obviously there is a ton of season left. My larger point is if the Cubs are sweeping the Padres and the Brewers are splitting series with the Tigers and splitting or losing series with the Diamondbacks, it will make it that much more difficult to catch the Cubs later in the season when the Brewers are playing tougher teams and needing to go 3/4 or sweep series. Gotta stock Ws when you can.
  17. Brewers winning 3/4 seems like a necessary thing given how hot the Cubs are. Have to take advantage of the weaker schedule while they can.
  18. For those who have a subscription to The Athletic there is a fun article on the primary road uniforms of all teams. For those who don't, the Brewers road gray ranks 20th but the alternate navy is ranked as one of the best in the sport. I hear this quite frequently and the script is often quoted as the reason why. I have to think we may see the road script from the navy on the gray uniform soon. Anyone with computer skills care to do a mockup of what that might look like? https://theathletic.com/2629079/2021/06/03/mlb-road-grey-uniform-tiers-from-the-royals-to-the-rays-grading-baseballs-best-and-worst-road-unis/
  19. They are an absolute joke of an organization. I would really hate being a fan of that team despite their success over the years.
  20. Was not a fan of the move with dudes like Yardley around. Bickford has been excellent for the Dodgers. Everything about this. Yardley was smoke and mirrors with poor peripherals and mediocre stuff. Bickford at least had some potential for growth.
  21. Yelich is by far the bigger concern that I have. A 9 year $214 million contract for a guy who appears to be a singles hitter at best is pretty darn scary for a small market. Yes, he can still run but man his approach since his knee injury has sapped him of not only his power but also his ability to hit for average. If he were just the Yelich of Miami, a .290 ish hitter with 20+ HR potential, while overpaid he would still be solid. The man has 3(!) extra base hits all season in 88 PA, (1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run). Wong and Taylor had 2 each last night alone. I don't think Yelich will ever be what he was but my gosh what a dramatic and unforeseen fall.
  22. With the Mets needing OF bats with Conforto and Nimmo out and the Brewers needing a 1B, I wonder if they would have any interest in any OF not name Yelich for Dominic Smith? He is a 1B playing the OF and, not particularly well, and would probably welcome a move back to 1B. Absolutely no clue what would be the offer but certainly worth exploring. If not Smith, I would certainly call the Nationals and kick the tires on Josh Bell. That would appear to be a less expensive route but would likely cost more in terms of prospect capital.
  23. I would say he probably is better than a AAAA player, but isn't all that different than the Ben Gamel types of the world. Every roster in MLB has a Tyrone Taylor 4th or 5th OF.
