  1. Wait a minute, so you’re going to release the guy, then trade away more talent to get some relief arms? Maybe they should have just kept Rasmussen and Feyereisen Yes. He simply is not good. The Brewers have proven to be quite adept at acquiring or developing relievers over the years, be it Swarzak, Pomeranz or Feyereisen. I think Rasmussen was going to be another hit but you have to make that trade for a potential long term solution at SS. I think Richards has every chance to be as good as Feyereisen. Unfortunately, they are not going to hit 1000 on them and I think Lindblom is a swing and miss.
  2. DFA was a bit strong. He is fine in the role that Perdomo was supposed to fill on Monday night, up 5 in the 9th and trying to get through the game without using Williams and Hader. You state small sample size of 12 IP in 2021, but his "effectiveness" in 2020 was only 23 IP when he had a 1.54 ERA but a 4.09 FIP. He wasn't with the Brewers in 2019. My larger point is that Yardley simply doesn't pass the eye test to me. While his career ERA with the Brewers is 3.31, it's coupled with a 4.79 FIP and 1.41 WHIP in 35.1 IP. He's fine as the last option in the pen but quite scary in a high leverage role.
  3. I think it’s time to admit defeat with Lindblom as well. He just isn’t good. Bullpen should be Hader, Williams, Suter, Boxberger, Lauer (if they aren’t going with the 6 man rotation) and some trade acquisition/s.
  4. I assumed not. Man I hadn’t concerned that angle either because of the obvious reference to Pedro Cerrano. Yikes is right!
  5. I’m ready for the Yardley DFA. He was a lot of smoke and mirrors last year and appears to have run out of magic.
  6. This could actually be a really big deal. If Adames is anywhere close to his away numbers then the Brewers got a steal. NO Yelich-eque breakout needed. If Adames is an above average major league shortstop then the Brewers got a bargain. This is an important point. Essentially, Adames has played 1 full season (163 games, 156 games started) away from Tropicana Field in his career. A line of .293/.366/.864 26 HR 71 RBI in 640 PAs, even with 180 Ks, is a perennial All-Star. Add to that his above-average defense and you are looking at something that could be quite special. Put another way, Francisco Lindor career 162 game average line is .281/.343/.821 28 HR 83 RBI with 103 Ks and Javier Baez's is .264/.303/.779 27 HR 87 RBI 175 Ks. Obviously, Adames' line away from Tropicana Field is best case scenario but you trade a Rasmussen, whose best case scenario is probably a right-handed Hader, for that every single day of the week.
  7. The hard part about trading one of them is finding a hole on the roster that will necessitate the move. In other words, does trading one of them net you something better in the OF than Cain, JBJ or Garcia? Or something better than Shaw at 3B? You're not trading them to improve LF (Yelich), 1B (Hiura), C (Narvaez), SS (Adames) or 2B (Wong/Urias)? Assuming, you're moving one of them to improve 3B, what are they actually worth? More importantly, who moves the needle from Shaw that would make them worth dealing? I have a feeling we'd be shocked to find out their value was only a Kyle Seager, Eduardo Escobar, or Brian Anderson. More importantly, I think we would be mad to find out that one of them were dealt for one of those guys. I still think Josh Donaldson is the most likely target. 3 years and ~$52.5m after this year would be tough to stomach but I think the Brewers will get something done there if the Twins do in fact sell.
  8. Really hoping for Keston's and the Brewers' sake (and us as fans' sake), that he has turned the corner. Realistically, he is going to strike out a ton still. But if he can get his AVG to ~.260 that is more than enough to tolerate the high whiffs as it will likely come with substantial pop. Good luck Keston.
  9. While Perez can't walk to save his life, Peterson can't hit to save his. Give me the guy who can at least swing it a little over the guy who has to rely on pitcher wildness.
  10. In his short time with the Angels, Adell reminded me a lot of Lewis Brinson. Super athlete with impressive MiLB numbers and massive holes in his swing against MLB pitchers. I think this one would be too risky for me given Hiura's early success in his career. I like the thought though.
  11. So Counsell isn’t responsible for the hitters not hitting to their career norms? If you blame Haines, then why hasn’t Counsell fired him? You’re correct if Counsell refuses to fire Haines, then it’s on Stearns for Counsell not firing Haines. Regardless, this team is absolute trash offensively and someone needs to take the fall. I’m tired of watching the team score 1 run and expect to win. This is such a ridiculous take. 3 weeks ago when we were 7 games over with all of our injuries you could have easily argued he was manager of the year. Now after a few tough weeks we should fire him? The best manager the franchise has had? After 3 straight playoff appearances for the first time in franchise history? Cmon man take look at this lineup...this is a poor hitting team due to the players assembled, no coach is fixing that So your excuse for a team of hitters not performing to their career norms is the GM?

  13. I agree that Counsell hasn't done a good job lately but Haines should be gone and Stearns should be feeling some heat for putting together this roster. I will stick with the narrative of “if Counsell wasn’t from Whitefish Bay”...it’s gross. He stinks now and he is the manager of a team that has almost every hitter significantly underachieving. It’s on him.
  14. Can Counsell please be on the hot seat already? Where are his answers for what is happening? Nothing even looks remotely improved over the past 3 weeks.
  15. 1 run against Hoffman through 5 is such garbage. Please fire Haines to at least say this isn’t acceptable any longer.
  16. This is a good takeaway from the trade today as well. Adames and Urias getting the ABs is significantly better than Urias and Robertson/Peterson/Reyes.
  17. I think it will be Urias as super utility until Wong leaves after 2022 or 2023, when he becomes the full time 2B. Keep in mind Urias will still only be 26 entering 2024. Ideally, he becomes the modern era Mark Loretta for the Brewers
  18. Agree with this take. Looking at this trade in a vacuum, it appears to be a solid move. You cannot couple this move with the Urias-Grisham trade. Trading Rasmussen will likely sting, but if Adames continues to produce at the level he previously has, then you are looking at the Brewers SS for the next 7-10 years potentially.
  19. This thread explains it. Urias is the new UTIL guy for now. It's not a sexy role. It confirms that the trade with SD for Grisham is going to sting at least for a few more seasons. It also frees up Urias to potentially be the replacement to Wong in a season or two at 2B. It also means that Reyes, Peterson and (likely) Robertson are all going to be AAA once Adames gets to Milwaukee. I don't hate this deal. If Adames simply hits his career line (.254/.320/.740, OPS+ 103) and continues to play elite D, this is a win. However, how often have we said in the past year "If he hits to his career norms..."
  20. Initial reaction: Trade is really Rasmussen for Adames. Is this a win for us. I am not knowledgeable about Adames enough to know. I do think Rasmussen is going to be quite a good reliever in a year or two.
