  1. David DeJesus Apparently Schafer is not going to cut it as a 4th OF and I want no part of Herrera, Falu on the roster period, or the temptation to put Reynolds/Overbay into RF. DeJesus could fill in adequately at all three OF positions for the rest of 2014 and likely be had on the cheap. Ideally, Schafer or Gindl would have been the guy, but it is becoming apparent that these guys, Schafer in particular, are AAAA players...unfortunately.
  2. I have been thinking the same thing. It's awful. The in game highlights fuzz up and they often times run slow and then speed up. What did they do to this app?
  3. Amen to this. I am a HUGE fan of the Packers, but I don't care about OTAs or any of the other offseason things, save the draft. I don't need Green and Gold Today in March or in June. I would love to see how a Navy and Gold Today show in November would do. The amount of coverage the Packers get is sickening to be honest and I love that team. On a side note, listening to SirusXM Fantasy Channel and they have a fantasy football show daily/weekly during the offseason. Why? On May 24 I am still 2-3 months away from my draft. Why do I need any advice at this point in time? Come on.
  4. Living in California makes it a little difficult for me to gauge the excitement in Wisconsin. Having said that, the Brewers are comprised of mostly the same players that won 74 games last year (minus Braun, somewhat Ramirez & Garza) and I think that is the driving factor. The wait and see factor that others have mentioned. Moreover, the constant NFL talk everywhere in the USA has really made it THE sport. There is legitimately no offseason now. It also doesn't help when you listen to nationally syndicated sports shows like The Dan Patrick Show, Scott Van Pelt and The Herd, it is constantly about NFL, NCAA or the NBA. Speaking specifically about Wisconsin, the Packers are always first and foremost on everyone's mind given the amount of coverage that the media back there give them. The Bucks have a chance to draft a potential top 5 talent in the NBA in 2 weeks. A player that COULD be the most transcendent talent in Milwaukee since Kareem and Oscar (yes better than Ray Allen and Sidney Moncrief) be it Wiggins, Embiid or Parker. Plus they have new owners, one of whom has a hot daughter, and potentially a new arena. The Brewers aren't an afterthought, there is just a TON going on with the Bucks which is why they have dominated the Wisconsin sports scene and the Packers draft, all of which have occurred since the Brewers' Opening Day.
  5. Right now he is signed for 2 years (2015-2016) for $17 million. Let's say the Brewers approached him about extending that deal. Would you have interest in extending that through his age 31, 32 & 33 seasons at ~$21 million per? Essentially giving Carlos a 5 year deal at $80 million? I am not sure he takes this but I would at least broach the topic with him and spread that additional $60 million over the five years i.e. pay him $16 million per over the next five years rather than $8, $9, $21, $21, $21. If I were Gomez, I think I would do it.
  6. This is EXACTLY the color scheme the Bucks should be going with. Those uniforms are quite attractive.
  7. Huh? In his MLB career, 1001 PAs against RHP and has the following line: .279/.344/.405, 21 HR, 107 RBI. By no means is that world beating, but it represents a significant upgrade at 1B. Additionally, I think his power statistics have been seriously stunted by Petco Park Yonder Alonso would definitely be a guy I would be interested in, especially as a buy low candidate right now. He profiles as a high AVG (.280), high OBP (.350) player who may not hit 25-30 HR annually, but could hit 15-22 and give you 40-50 doubles. I am thinking Lyle Overbay circa 2004-2005. I would very much welcome an Alonso deal.
  8. Interesting point you bring up here...would I trade 1 phenomenal season that results in a World Series trip for 5-7 seasons of terrible (55 wins) to below average (70 wins) Brewer teams? Honestly, in the economics of baseball, I think I would rather take the Brewers consistently winning 80-90 games yearly with an outside shot at the World Series every 5-7 years rather than a guaranteed World Series trip coupled by season after season of dismal teams.
  9. The Giants have the latest start time and that is at 715. I understand your point but the Brewers games out here start at 4 when they are at any team in the eastern time zone, meaning we miss half of the game by the time we get home. We are jealous of you in the central time zone for NFL though for sure. 12pm, 3PM & 730PM starting times beat 10AM, 1PM and 530PM any day of the week.
  10. I think it is really simple...If Lasry and Edens listen to what a majority of the fan base wants, then there will be a return to the multiple green and white scheme of the 1980s. The uniforms don't have to be the exact same, it just needs to have that color scheme. I think it is the same argument for proponents of the return full time to the ball and glove logo for the Brewers. The Irish rainbow is the Milwaukee Bucks much like the ball and glove is the Brewers. It's not because the Bucks had a run of success in the 80s or that retro is cool. It's strictly that the majority of fans identify with that look more than any others for the Bucks. Do it!
  11. Scooter Weeks through 59 games: 253 AB 74 H .292 AVG .335 OBP .427 SLG .762 OPS 31 R 16 2B 2 3B 5 HR 25 RBI 3 SB A slash of .292/.335/.762 with 5 HR, 25 RBI is not too shabby 2B production through roughly 1/3 of 2014. This platoon thing may actually be working.
  12. Big push out here in LA to change the Clipper name with new ownership. Probably made me think you were serious.
  13. Keep the name the same. Bucks is a classic name for a team in this state given the abundance of the animal, as well as the fact that deer hunting is so popular. Keep the green! Who else has green as the main color in the NBA besides us and Boston? Keep the identity, update the uniforms and logo and move forward.
  14. I slot him #5 and push Davis to #6, Reynolds to #7 & Gennett/Weeks to #8. I don't think the #1-#4 should change at all moving forward.
  15. I agree Invader. I know we sometimes downplay the importance of chemistry and the idea of a clubhouse leader but Lohse seems to be the guy in terms of the pitching staff. His demeanor never much changes and I recall him wanting to take on more of a leadership role this season. I also can no longer stand by original sentiments as Lohse as been about as solid as could be in his year and a half in Milwaukee.
  16. 1 vs CHI: 1-0 2 vs MIN: 2-0 2 @ MIN: 1-1 3 @ PIT: 1-2 3 @ NYM: 2-1 3 vs CIN: 2-1 4 @ ARIZ: 3-1 3 @ COL: 1-2 3 vs WASH: 1-2 4 vs COL: 2-2 Like others, I am going with 16-12. Puts them at 49-35 going into July. I'd like to say they put together a nice 6 game winning streak with a sweep of NYM and Cincinnati but the realist in me says not. I think 16-12 is optimistic, but I like their makeup.
  17. I read somewhere that they were contemplating red and black as the main colors...COME ON!! We aren't the Bulls, Heat, Blazers, Raptors or one of the many other teams that wear red and black. Stick to the green and bring in the lighter green and white to compliment it. It doesn't have to be the Bucks uniforms of the 1980s seen below, but at least use it as the base for the color scheme, as I think that is what most of the fans identify them with. http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/teamsites/images/legacy/bucks/pressey_640_0.jpg
  18. Yes to all of this except dealing both of these guys. Dealing Estrada to fill a hole at 3B this season or in the offseason is the route to go. Even if Marco goes elsewhere and performs, he simply isn't someone the Brewers should entertain locking into a long term deal. Keeping Fiers for depth is ok though as I don't see a equal return to the depth of having him in the event Nelson fails his first full time up in MLB.
  19. I would gladly part with those two for Middlebrooks. I don't think I would even blink either.
  20. I actually think it is #3. Embiid/Parker/Wiggins are all so close in terms of evaluation that whoever has #1 has to decide amongst the three, #2 between the leftover two and #3 has their pick made for them. Having said that, I think Parker is the best fit for the Bucks given their current makeup of D first players, his being Chicago-born and his off court character. I think while he may not have the ceiling of Wiggins or Embiid, he could be the face of the franchise for the next decade all while being a solid citizen. Given the #2 pick, the Bucks will have to decide between Wiggins/Embiid (one of which goes #1) and Parker. It won't hurt my feelings if they draft Embiid, as a frontline of Embiid, Sanders, Henson, Giannis has legit D potential, but how are they going to score?
  21. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140527&content_id=77057078&notebook_id=77057238&vkey=notebook_mil&c_id=mil Perhaps his early season struggles have something to do with this. Seriously, what the heck is wrong with people?
  22. Actually, I think Plan B or Plan C may be to acquire a 3B (Moustakas or Middlebrooks) to give Aramis time off multiple times per week while DFAing Overbay. Leave Reynolds at 1B and allow for that newly acquired 3B to back up at those positions as well. That new player would still probably get 2 starts per week be it at 3B and maybe 1 at 1B.
  23. I think Estrada fills the role nicely in both scenarios i.e. for Middlebrooks or Moustakas. As has been debated at length in other threads, Estrada is just not someone the Brewers should be looking to extend after 2015 when he is 32. Dealing him now makes sense especially when you have Fiers and Nelson to fill his spot in the rotation immediately and long term. I like Marco but he is by no means irreplaceable, especially if you can acquire a potential solution at 3B, you have replacements knocking on the MLB door AND you don't plan on re-signing him after 2015. What's the old adage...I would rather get rid of a player a year too soon, then a year too late? Marco, while a great #4 or #5 in 2014, is not or should not be in the Brewers plans long term. If he can be used to acquire someone who may fit in long term, I think we have to make the move and insert Nelson or Fiers into the rotation.
  24. Trade accepted. The only issue I have with it is I am a bit gun shy with injury players as I had accepted a trade for Matt Kemp early last season and he proceeded to stink. Worried the same could happen with Harper but man...an OF of Braun, Jones, Harper is ridiculous in a 16 team league.
  25. Agree... 1. Segura 2. Braun 3. Lucroy 4. Gomez 5. Ramirez 6. Reynolds 7. Davis 8. Weeks/Gennett
