  1. Kotsay and Yuni making their defensive presence felt this inning. Ouch.
  2. The offense is having much, much better ABs on this road trip than usual. Only 1 hit through the first couple of innings tonight, but they have made Vogelsong throw 43 pitches. I like it.
  3. I'm surprised that Wilson is at first and Counsell is at 3rd. I'd have them switched. Ax has been pretty wild here, despite getting the first two outs. Now he just has to get Thome (gulp).
  4. Huh. These guys are having fun again. And basically because of Tony Plush. Good stuff.
  5. Happy birthday T-Plush. Nice idea for Braun there except for the fact that he is on fire. Slightly harder and that's a single though.
  6. hahahaha. That was ridiculous. We might lose 7-2 thanks to to Yuni's acrobatic slide, and he was out.
  7. Now it makes a bit more sense. Perhaps you were prophetic earlier, I don't know, but at that time it was exactly 3 innings into a bad game after a very good series against the Twins. It's now 3 games later and a shakeup may be necessary.
  8. It seems like a lot of Kemp's homers are late in the game--and the Dodgers are almost always in pitcher's duels, so I'd bet that he can rival Prince's clutchness. The problem is that the Dodgers aren't going anywhere except the poor house, so he's really have to separate himself from the pack in order to win the award.
  9. That makes sense. And that is incredible.
  10. yuni did have a .284/.281/.409 line in June. A .690 OPS would put him in the upper half for SS in the league. Yes, that is probably the exception and not the rule (although it is in line with career #'s and last season in KC). And yes, he is a butcher defensively. But if he keeps hitting OK like he did in June, I don't think it's a huge problem to have him in the lineup, given the alternatives. When your BA is higher than your OBP, you know that you aren't a big fan of BBs (Is there actually a way to get a PA without an AB and not get on base? I am guessing you just got those flipped ninja?).
  11. I have no confidence in Green in a PH/bench role, but I would like to see him spell Casey for a couple weeks as a regular just to see what happens. At the same time, it's not like I have confidence in Kotsay/Counsell/Wilson on the bench either, so he certainly wouldn't be a downgrade if relegated to that role. The risk/reward at this point is so small on the risk and and actually significant on the reward end that it just has to happen at some point.
  12. Good post. Pitching and defense is more than half the game though, and this team far out-trumps the '07 squad in the pitching department, anyway. It really wouldn't take much to equal/outproduce them offensively either (Yuni/McG updrades)
  13. I don't understand this....are we suggesting that Kotsay playing less, McGehee not batting #5 for half the season, and Loe being used in more of a ROOGY role rather than a setup man are going to have a large negative effect on the clubhouse? That's an awfully tough sell for me. I'd be happy to hear of just one legitimate questionable decision that RR made this year that would have had too large of a clubhouse impact to justify making the decision. Yes, actually. Kotsay really hasn't played much since Hart came back. McGehee in the 5 spot vs. the 6 or 7 spot makes pretty much no difference at all, especially considering the alternatives for the 5 spot. Loe may have been overused a couple of times, but not nearly to the extent that one would think by reading BF.net. The biggest things that RR has done strategically to actually alter the outcomes of games positively or negatively have been his defensive shifts and aggressive baserunning. The baserunning perhaps cost them a few runs early, but has been much better of late and the shifts have worked out great. Almost everything else has been more of a roster issue than a management issue.
  14. Braddock looks like he throws a lot harder than 92-93. His ball just has a lot of life to it.
  15. I actually agree completely, but have finally come around to realize that IGTs are just rant/vent threads. It can be entertaining.
  16. Alright guys, I guess I just have a broader definition of "attitude" than others around here. To be clear, I'd be happy with sending Casey down for awhile and giving Green a shot, but I was trying to show the possible difference between McGehee's situation and Hardy's. If I recall, Hardy was tired and wanted days off. McGehee seems willing to do whatever it takes, thus a possible longer leash. Still, he hasn't been given a longer leash than Hardy, so I don't know how this comparison ever came up in the first place. Done with that. Prince pulls a Buckner. Ouch. Usually he is fairly sure handed on plays like that, the only positive thing that can be said about his D.
  17. Talent, skill, and work ethic. Work ethic is part of "attitude" in my book. If you don't think work ethic matters...
  18. I'd say that it is A LOT easier to break out of a slump with the right attitude than with a poor one, thus I'm not sure that it's purely a "locker-room" trait.
  19. Attitude matters. From all accounts, Casey is at the top of the heap and JJ was kind of meh.
