  1. I'm really warming up to George http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. He had a nice block on a low and away curve in the dirt last inning as well.
  2. Wolf has to pitch on the black or he gets rocked. Very evident there to Scutaro, Salty and Cameron.
  3. Beautiful. I'll trade a Casey rocket DP for a A-Gon rocket DP all day.
  4. He's not, but if he's the only lefthander in your pen, you don't want to use him too early in case you need him later against a Ryan Howard type. So basically just an L, since the "one out guy" doesn't really apply.
  5. Unless we pay him like Cy Young, and this is really who he is. Then it is quite unfortunate.
  6. Ahh, I see now, thanks. I could see this as having relevance in predicting future success (or lack of success) if ALL of the Brewer pitchers have a high BABIP. If that is the case, then it can reasonably be assumed that his high K/9 innings will not necessarily translate to better raw results (ERA), as the defense behind him can at least partially be blamed for the poor results. If the rest of the staff has normal BABIP numbers, then it is more likely that Zack's lack of results is due to luck. The samples involved in this are probably too small to say anything important anyway barring a vast difference between the two, which I doubt. My opinion is that he has both been a bit unlucky and that he is throwing too many meatballs.
  7. ??? The point of using K/BB or K/9 innings is that it takes defense and a lot of luck out of the equation. Using ABs would thus be more innaccurate. Plus, unless I am misunderstanding your comment, every pitcher gets the same number of outs to work with so it's impossible to artificially inflate those numbers. Basically, what is important is what percentage of a pitchers outs come by the strikeout? Unless you are trying to measure something different than what I am assuming (pure pitcher performance)
  8. Tough spot for Morgan there. I'm not sure what's worse, getting doubled off first or the ball falling and getting thrown out with a force at second. I guess he could have read it better, but Ellsbury probably gets to that spot a lot sooner than a lot of CFers.
  9. Who is the "forfeit" pitcher for the Brewers? Josh Wilson? Yuni?
  10. Well, the Daniel Ray Herrera experiment appears to be less than a success.
  11. Yes! HUGE DP there. I was worried about a 5 spot and burning through our pen for good. Against the Sox, 2 outs is like 20 saved pitches for our pen.
  12. Is it possible to throw more than 44 pitches in an inning yet only give up 2 runs? I know 44 is possible, since it just happened.
  13. Not only can the Sox hit but they are just annoying as heck at the plate. Taking every pitch 2 inches off the corner and fouling off every pitch on the corner. Just waiting for the pitcher to make a mistake.
  14. Another week or so of this and I'll be a Casey fan again. That would be nice.
  15. I'll predict that the Brewers get off to a quick 4-0 lead then the game gets called in the middle of the 4th inning, rendering the lead and our favorable pitching matchup null and void.
  16. He has great raw stuff, but only okay command. It's likely that he's been told to "trust his stuff" so much over the years that he basically just offers up meatballs every once in awhile rather than work the corners. He has looked far, far better than a 5+ ERA, and his peripheral stats say he has been far, far better than a 5+ ERA. When both of those things agree I am fairly confident that things will straighten out for him. His last few outings before this one were pretty good. Marcum and Gallardo have each had stretches this year where you feel like nobody is going to hit them, and I think it's just a matter of time before Zack gets into that groove as well. Luckily, the offense has picked him up big time, so that should really help out his confidence and demeanor out there, and his poor results haven't hurt us much (until today) In short, I'm not worried at all.
  17. Better than 7-8 and I'll be very happy. Worse than 6-9 would be disappointing.
  18. Weeks is not learning very quickly. I at least saw the positive last time that happened in that it was good timing to be aggressive. Outs on the bases when you are down by 4 is not smart to say the least.
  19. Atta boy Kottaras! Nice block. Bill actually looked smart there. That's kind of like Nieves hitting a single there.
  20. Obviously a dumb decision by Rickie, but at least it was the right TIME to be aggressive in a normal style game, with 2 outs and Morgan on deck.
  21. Boy, it would be nice to have a good sinkerballer in the pen on a day like this...
  22. Looks like Casey remembered what that hit felt like last night. Carbon copy there.
