That PFF trading mechanism is completely out of whack. I traded Rodgers for Garrett Wilson AND all of the Jets picks. Needless to say, the draft turned out pretty good. In think I ended up with Will Levis, Mayer, and Brian Branch in addition to getting Garrett Wilson...

Rohde would be an interesting get. I don't think scholarship limits are particularly important anymore in these days of NIL, are they? Pretty easy for a walk-on to get compensated for tuition, room and board. Combined with the transfer portal it's even less of an issue as only 8-9 guys see real court time in a season (unless injuries knock guys out), and with 13 scholarships a few of those guys at the end of the bench are going to look to greener pastures to get more playing time. I think Yalden is going to need to play a lot of "point" center, roaming around the top of the key setting picks, making 3s and dishing to cutters. His half court offensive game is a pleasure to watch, but watching him try to run from block-to-block to get back on D is painful. I worry about his footspeed on D as well. His long arms will hopefully make up for the lack of lateral quickness. He does have smooth footwork on the offensive end, it's just a bit plodding and stuck to the hardwood. That said, he's doing VERY well at La Lumiere against athletes who are actually comparable to what he'll be seeing at UW, something few recruits coming into a high DI program can say. Pretty much JUST the ones playing in that national conference/league they play in. If Wahl comes back there is no way both Hodges and Ilver come back as well. We'd have Crowl and Wahl, then a bench full of bigs competing for the backup frontcourt spot: Gilmore, Ilver, Hodges, Yalden, Winter. There just isn't enough time to go around unless Yalden and Winter BOTH RS, which doesn't seem likely.

I liked it better when JD2 was starting and CE was a sparkplug off the bench. It seems like Gard has really tried to feature CE offensively the last few weeks--and I don't blame him for the effort as the kid is going to be the goto guy at some point, but I think it's been shown that right now the team is better when CE is an opportunistic scorer rather than the main man. Wahl's injury really threw a monkey wrench into the course of a promising looking season. He just hasn't looked the same since coming back. Hopefully they make the Tourney anyway as it looks good on the historical record but I'm certainly not expecting much whether they get there or not.

The only "realignment" I care about is to even out the population base for each "home" TV market. Everybody gets 10 million people or whatever the number is... Brewers would have to get Iowa for this to happen I spose...Prolly have to five the Pirates upstate New York too.

The schedule is very favorable for UW coming down the stretch, starting with a home game vs NU right now. I could see UW going 7-2 in their last nine. That said, going 2-7 is NOT out of the realm of possibility... The lack of Klesmit vs the Wildcats a couple weeks ago was fatal, as his D should be the perfect antidote to Chase Audige.

Brewers are 8th in Klaw's overall minor league system rankings. ESPN's Kiley McDaniel is less bullish on the youngsters, placing the system 15th, and having only Chourio (11), Frelick (46) and Turang (72) in his top 100.

There has been a talent identification problem the last few recruiting classes. Nobody who has transferred out has actually helped the team they transferred to, and they are almost always transferring DOWN a tier or 2 in competition level.

It was no secret this team is thin. Klesmit out really hurts the D, and Wahl is still rounding into form. Get everybody healthy and get some Ws. This team at full strength CAN still compete against anybody, but that certainly doesn't mean that they will. If they remain injured and the leaders fold, it could REALLY go South to Chryst-ian proportions. That would be sad. It's not just the losing, it's HOW they have lost. Just utterly physically dominated tonight.

UGH. An excruciating L, but that's the road in the B1G. I was impressed by the moxie of an outmanned NW squad. Just a whole lot of "meh" in this game other than a nice showing by Jordan Davis. That Barnhizer kid made some key plays in the last 10 minutes. It could be worse. We could be Duke😆. About to lose a bad VTech team with easily the best recruiting class in the country. NW might actually make the Tourney. #FireScheyer

UW SHOULD be able to absorb the lack of a Klesmit...but he would be ideal in guarding Audige. NW plays great defense, although it's better than it should be when Gard has Ilver, Gilmore and Lindsey on the floor at the same time.

Of course there is a reason for all of them...but really only Neath's is a legitimate reason. There will ALWAYS be misses, but when they pile up all at once it creates a thin roster. Ultimately, that is the responsibility of the staff. At the same time, the season certainly isn't a failure by any means, and it still has a chance to become a great success despite the lack of depth, which is a credit to the staff's coaching chops. Hopefully we can being in or develop more depth in the future.

I love Gard, but it is fair to say he and the staff have missed on a fair number of recent recruits/transfers. Heck, Klesmit basically begged to come to UW and he's been one of the better additions in the last few years. Mors, Hodges, Ilver, Carlson, Bowmen, Neath, Lindsey, and McGee have been so underwhelming that we have played a preferred WO-Gilmore- far more than any of those names (And it's not because Gilmore is a diamond in the rough). Again, Gard is basically a miracle worker as far as working with what he's got, but with UWs success we should be able to attract some more talent.

About as expected. This game is an L w/o Wahl. Particularly after Klesmit went down. Luckily for UW there are no world beaters in the B1G this year, so merely being above average and playing smart with great PG and C play and solid defense should get the job done more often than not. But the margin is thin. Impressed with Micah Shrewsberry. PSU doesn't beat themselves.

The team was thin and lost its best player. Obviously, one could say the team is thin because the staff didn't recruit well enough the last few years. That's probably a somewhat fair statement. The next 3 recruiting classes are looking very good, however, so the lapse should be temporary. Also, with the portal things can change FAST. If the team wins enough with whenever Wahl comes back then this losing stretch will likely be forgiven. If not, UW could be sweating on Selection Sunday. Gard has earned a lot of leash though. B1G titles and COY awards don't happen with smoke and mirrors.

If Babe Ruth was born in 1995 instead of 1895, my guess is that with today's nutrition and coaching and etc, he'd still be the best ballplayer of all-time. Obviously, if you take everything out of context, Babe would suck today swinging a 42 oz bat against today's pitchers. But it is clear that his talent is transcendent of time...

Huh? This is a joke, right? 1919 Babe Ruth hit .322/.456/.657 (543 PAs) with a 2.97 ERA (133 IPs). One has to disqualify the Babe in questions like this....(unless you want to include Ohtani...)

I am a bit numb. I had really enjoyed the Chryst years when they were winning Orange Bowls and Cotton Bowls...and shoulda won a Rose Bowl... I enjoyed not giving a crap about what things "look" like or recruiting stars or style...even to the point of genuinely embracing the anti-style of UW. Then they started losing...then they started getting blown out....then they got blown out by a former UW coach at a no-tradition program. At that point, and in the subsequent months, I now realize that I just like winning, Luke Fickell has yet to win a game for UW. That said, this is fun.
