  1. Because it just opens another hole on the roster. I'm not confident that we can just find a cheaper CF that would even be as good as Cain is when he isnt going good... Factoring in that Cain still has a pretty high upside for the next 2 years anyway and I just don't see us moving him.
  2. 2 hits, 2 runs and 0 home runs. Weird.
  3. If this team somehow turns it around it will be even better than last year...which was pretty miraculous in its own right. That over-achieving team skewed expectations for this year. Baseball is an agonizing sport.
  4. Uecker is killing me. I shut off the TV, and thought the radio magic might work. Get up get up get up get outta here...caught at the wall...
  5. Yes. I don't mind BBs to power guys when there are 2 outs. I hate lead off BBs. It all depends on the situation/score.
  6. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2019/08/27/christian-yelich-fan-calling-body-issue-distasteful-relax-roxane/2131459001/ Thanks, but now knowing the story I just don't see why this is such a big deal. It's not.
  7. I know my mind is made up. So put away your make-up. Those days are over. You don't have to put on the red light. You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right. I've loved you since I knew ya. I wouldn't talk down to ya. I have to tell you just how I feel. Told you once, I won't tell you again... It's a bad way
  8. It is one of those situations where his trade value might be higher than his actual value though...particularly to an American League team...IF his defense is unimprovable, anyway. I don't think it is. Yet. Yelich's actual value is almost assuredly higher than his trade value.
  9. No. But if Saladino is out til October the Brewers should pick an IF up who can play SS this week. They are very thin there. If Spangenberg is average or better there on D they can probably make due...as long as there isnt an injury.
  10. That's where it seems like the Brewers farm system is in decent shape from the pitching side of the equation. They have a ton of players putting up good numbers....either in K/BB ratios or in not allowing hits/runs or both. Many more than a last ranked system should have.
  11. We dont have a replacement for Cain. It's trending poorly and '21 and '22 will likely be ugly years for Lorenzo--but he's under contract and we don't have a replacement for him. He'll still very likely be the best defensive outfielder in our organization. If we dump him or trade him we'll need to replace him with somebody who might be a better value than Cain but also probably wont have the upside that Cain has. He's going to be a Brewer for the next 2 years at a minimum.
  12. source? this report from yesterday doesn't confirm that. Don’t remember, read it in one of the threads. It was in regards to the 40 man and since Saladino was injured and had no more options, he was an easy DFA. So, your source is djoctagone. Beautiful.
  13. What is Saladino's injury status?
  14. These guys are good at their jobs, but that doesn't mean they're perfect or could truly know the depth of a system. In 2012 the Rangers ranked as Baseball America's 2nd best farm system. Their top 5 prospects were listed as Jurickson Profar, Martín Pérez, Mike Olt, Leonys Martín, and Neil Ramirez. Also in 2012 the Marlins ranked as Baseball America's 28th farm system. Their top 5 prospects were listed as Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, Jose Fernandez, Matt Dominguez, and JT Realmuto. I went to 3 different sites for 2012 and the LOWEST rating for the Marlins was #13. The highest was #10. I can't believe any credible site had the Marlins the 3rd WORST farm in 2012. Prospect ratings are always going to be goofy--even in retrospect. 6 years from now looking back on our prospects in 2019 one will come to drastically different conclusions about the state of the farm system depending on if Hiura and Grisham are included...not to mention Burnes and Peralta...
  15. This team really was done by all star break. Not by mathematical probabilities, but you could just tell they weren’t really very good I was resigned to this fate earlier than most people, they just weren’t even close to last years team where I was considerably confident of their chances by the end of July. I cant wait until its the last week of the season and you two are jerking each other off about how correct you about the Brewers being mediocre. I mean, I know that's why I come to this place. Thank you again for being such great fans and letting us all know about it.
  16. I don't think there is 40 man room for both Nelson and Suter. Taylor Williams is out of options after this year so he should probably be released as he is also the last reliever on the 40 man (along with Wilkerson, who does have an option). Saladino, Spangenberg, and Perez are also expendable--except that all of those guys will get playing time in September--or at least PH opportunities--and if there is an injury they will actually be sorely needed. After that you have Taylor and Stokes...and then all the relievers we just traded for (Black, Pomeranz, and Faria). I can't see us letting any of those guys go, thus Nelson and/or Suter (looking like Nelson) will stay on the 60 day IL. Unless you cut Wlkerson and Taylor Williams...
  17. It's to the point where I want Suter starting on Saturday for Davies at Wrigley. Which is amazing.
  18. It's tempting to trade Hiura but I think you gotta be patient. He just hasnt had enough reps at 2nd to say he'll never stick there. We are already short on young position players so I think you roll with him for another year and then re-evaluate.
  19. It was kind of a bad read by Hiura on a ball in the dirt. Although he was safe so it wasnt that bad of a read...
  20. 10 Ks 0 BBs. That's the kind of line that gets noticed.
  21. Gotta finish the homestand with a sweep as well.
  22. I thought the 28-man roster doesn't go into effect until next year?
  23. mlb.com reported last week that he's not near returning. Looks like Mid-Sept at earliest, and that wouldn't even be stretched out. Stearns told Grindle in the pre-game today that Woodruff should begin throwing off a mound next week. So yeah, by mid-september he should be ready to start.
