  1. Seems like it’s a pretty good bet that we’re gonna see Pratt at some point this season barring unforeseen circumstances. And it seems like our brain trust is very confident that he is a special talent.
  2. IIRC, our FO brought up Tong first and was shot down immediately. I don’t think we would’ve gotten him even with Myers thrown in.
  3. Maybe Jett turns out to be the next Pedroia, but I’m not that optimistic.
  4. I mean, an upgrade from what Ortiz offers from a batting perspective is not a very difficult bar to clear. And isn’t super sub basically just a utility guy, but slightly fancier? I hope the pop he has shown in the minors is legit and translates well to the MLB.
  5. Well, we got our pipsqueak warrior to keep Sal company and a middling pitcher whose main positive is that he just happens to be MLB-ready.
  6. Not sure how to feel about Jett Williams. Not sure how a guy who’s 5’9 would have sustainable pop. Unless he can regularly hit 20 HRs a year or have an awesome hit tool, our lineup is still a little lacking.
  7. If that’s accurate, then I’m fine with not trading Freddy to the Mets. I’d rather keep Freddy than trade him for peanuts.
  8. Well, if there’s any team that can polish a diamond in the rough when it comes to pitchers, it’s us. Send him to the pitching lab and see if we can get a solid bullpen staple out of him.
  9. I kinda cringe when I read “looking for plug and play guys.” Ortiz, Hall, and Cortes hasn’t exactly worked out that well for us.
  10. From overtaking the Cubs in the standings, to dunking on them in the playoffs, this has already become a very satisfying season.
  11. At least Ortiz will be batting with the bases empty instead of loaded.
  12. As soon as I saw Ortiz walk up to the plate, I knew we weren’t scoring. Chances are he’s gonna be our starting SS again next season, because you can’t have Wisconsin sports without sunk cost fallacy.
  13. Mark A: “What if the real title was the summer of family fun we had along the way?”
  14. If we do lose, at least we can spend the offseason gaslighting ourselves into getting excited over signing a few AAAA guys we’ll call starters.
  15. You’re gonna have some guy who hit .214 and 2 HR and you’re gonna LIKE IT
  16. Well, on the bright side, those three bums will likely not be on the team in the long term. The downside is that we’re gonna scrape the bottom of the bargain bin to get three more bums to replace them.
  17. What a time to forget how to hit. And pitch.
  18. Just running the gauntlet while the Cubs get their feast of teams that barely have a pulse at best.
  19. That's what I was thinking. If management was as hell-bent on instant gratification as some fans are, we'd never be able to develop starting pitchers. They'd just be chucked in to the bullpen after a rough stretch.
  20. I'd argue that if we do lose, it would be mostly because of Murphy's bullpen mismanagement.
  21. I'm not quite ready to permanently send Miz to the bullpen, but he's definitely going to have to spend the entire winter in the pitching lab until he figures out how to command the ball. Can't get away with meatballs in the big leagues.
