  1. So far it’s a pretty ho-hum start to Day 2 with guys you expect to sign at a discount. I wonder when we’ll start to see some tougher but interesting signs.
  2. Gotta collect ALL the guys with nasty high-spin curveballs. At least one of them’s gotta turn out to be the next Ben Sheets, right? 😆
  3. A very Brewers type of pitching prospect with that high spin curveball. Get him in the pitching lab and see what we can get out of him.
  4. > Super athletic college OF > Tooled up > Falls further than he should have So he’s basically Garrett Mitchell :P. Hopefully he stays healthy.
  5. Strosnider at 66. Really good value at that spot.
  6. The Cardinals are having a very solid draft so far. Not ideal.
  7. The last high school kid we took in the first round who went earlier than expected is doing pretty good right now. Hopefully Ebel impresses just as much as Payne.
  8. “Sir, a second Ebel has hit the Brewers farm system.”
  9. Trey Ebel it is. There’s our “surprise” underslot pick. I know there were a lot of speculation about us taking him.
  10. Welp, Flukey to the Tigers. He was one guy I wanted.
  11. Zion Rose going to the Royals. I’ve seen him being floated as a possibility for us, but he’s gone surprisingly early.
  12. I’m gonna assume that our first pick isn’t going to excite many people. Typically the later rounds are where the real fun begins.
  13. I take solace in remembering that he just wouldn’t sign with us no matter how much money we tried throwing at him (that was within our limits). He just was never going to sign with us.
  14. Then we just trade for six CJ Abramses.
  15. Now that’s what we call easy power. Just looks so effortless.
  16. Seems like it’s a pretty good bet that we’re gonna see Pratt at some point this season barring unforeseen circumstances. And it seems like our brain trust is very confident that he is a special talent.
  17. IIRC, our FO brought up Tong first and was shot down immediately. I don’t think we would’ve gotten him even with Myers thrown in.
  18. Maybe Jett turns out to be the next Pedroia, but I’m not that optimistic.
  19. I mean, an upgrade from what Ortiz offers from a batting perspective is not a very difficult bar to clear. And isn’t super sub basically just a utility guy, but slightly fancier? I hope the pop he has shown in the minors is legit and translates well to the MLB.
  20. Well, we got our pipsqueak warrior to keep Sal company and a middling pitcher whose main positive is that he just happens to be MLB-ready.
  21. Not sure how to feel about Jett Williams. Not sure how a guy who’s 5’9 would have sustainable pop. Unless he can regularly hit 20 HRs a year or have an awesome hit tool, our lineup is still a little lacking.
  22. If that’s accurate, then I’m fine with not trading Freddy to the Mets. I’d rather keep Freddy than trade him for peanuts.
