  1. I'd much rather see the FO make smart decisions rather than appease fans that have clearly failed the marshmallow test as kids.
  2. Must be why the Padres have won like 200 World Series by now, right?
  3. They can also have my leftover frozen chicken pot pie for free
  4. I’m just chuckling at this because it feels like a monkey’s paw moment. People want us to do something, and we do something- but it’s a couple guys on the IL
  5. Well, people wanted us to do something, and we did something
  6. I remember when Shelby Miller was touted as a Cardinals phenom. I feel old.
  7. Breaking news: Brewers obtain veteran beer vendor from Red Sox.
  8. Would’ve loved to have Underwood, Lauridsen, and Cadiz in the fold as well, but overall still a very solid class. I wonder who will turn out to be this year’s Ethan Dorchies.
  9. I mean, if teams had any degree of certainty these guys were signable, they’d have been taken earlier. When you pick someone after Round 10, you’re basically taking a flier on a lottery ticket and hope that you’re able to nab some of them.
  10. Wow. Of all the picks I thought he was the least likely to sign.
  11. With Bentley it seems like there’s a hair over $1m left to spend. Maybe 1 or 2 more signings to come?
  12. I’m not a fan of trading away significant talent for a rental who’s on the wrong side of 30. If he can be had for cheap, then sure. But since that’s unlikely, I’m more than fine with passing on him.
  13. While early, Levonas hasn’t exactly impressed as a freshman. Now, it’s not the end of the world to underperform as a freshman, but he’s gonna have to light the world on fire as a sophomore and junior if he wants to make as much as he could’ve last year.
  14. Shame that we didn’t end up signing Underwood, but more often than not we don’t end up missing the guys we don’t sign. I think the only one I can think of in recent memory is Carlos Rodon.
  15. Slightly undersized pitcher with a mid-90s fastball and a hammer curve. Shades of Ben Sheets? Can't wait to see what our pitching lab can do with him.
  16. If you take a bunch of high school kids and offer them some money, chances are a few of them will sign, right?
  17. Seems like we’re on a run of high upside guys now. I don’t think we’re signing many of them, but the ones we do will be fascinating to follow.
  18. Chicago may have the Pope, but we have Jesus 😁
  19. I’m pretty intrigued by Flores. Anytime I see a slightly undersized pitcher with a hammer curve, I can’t help but think about Ben Sheets.
  20. I don't think I've heard from Patrick in a while. Used to enjoy reading his takes on the draft when I was younger.
  21. I for one am eating crow when it comes to Priester. A young and solid mid-rotation starter who helped stabilize the rotation was definitely worth losing that comp pick.
  22. I'm curious as to how the rest of the picks will go. None of these picks seem like the kind to strain the budget, so I imagine there will be some opportunities to splurge later on.
