  1. Miz just can't seem to avoid the big inning. It's never about the quality of stuff, or even the walks. He just can't seem to command the ball. He needs to know that it doesn't matter how hard he throws the ball, big leaguers will send it a mile if he keeps throwing it in the middle of the zone.
  2. Considering we've already burned through most of our bullpen by now, we're doomed if we go to extras anyway.
  3. Limited damage in the face of adversity against a good hitting team. I'll take that from a young pitcher.
  4. Miz reminds me of Ashby. Really tantalizing stuff and amazing in short bursts, but seems to get in trouble with longer starts. I'm still willing to give him more chances to be a starter because it's expected to see young and tall pitchers to struggle at first, but man it's hard to watch sometimes.
  5. It's pretty baffling how quickly our pitchers have fallen apart. They can't throw strikes, and they're liable to throw meatballs on top of that.
  6. I think I would like to invest in a bright neon sign that points to the strike zone and says, "The strike zone's here, dummy" 😂
  7. What is it with our pitchers being unable to throw strikes as of late?
  8. Priester had no idea where the ball was going half the time. 5 walks in 4.1 innings. Sheesh.
  9. Eh, he’s a young pitcher in his first year in the bigs. I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner.
  10. That's what I wonder sometimes. The list of promising pitchers who flamed out because of injuries in this team's history is long. Maybe at least a few of those guys would've stayed healthy if they had the kind of support system our pitchers have today. Maybe Sheets would've stayed healthy and continued to lead the rotation. Hell, imagine if we had BOTH Sheets and Sabathia for the 2008 run.
  11. Maybe he would’ve been successful in Milwaukee, or maybe he would’ve faceplanted just as hard. But I think we can both agree that we’re not exactly regretting anything right now lol
  12. Cy Young or not, Priester has probably been Arnold's most important acquisition this season. Not only has Priester been performing well, but he has been incredibly consistent. Whatever we gave up for him seems like peanuts in comparison.
  13. They get the coveted, “You Tried” award. A truly monumental achievement.
  14. But he’s not different! I want something different NOW! *Throws a tantrum*
  15. I honestly wouldn’t mind if we even extend Woody. His stuff still looks pretty good and he has very good command that I think will allow him to be effective for a while.
  16. So who did you have in mind? I keep seeing people screaming “DO SOMETHING” while not seeing anyone who would’ve been sufficient enough upgrades. Suarez? Dude’s a 34 year old one trick pony who’s a defensive liability and strikes out a ton. It’s possible that we offered something and the Dbacks just liked what the Mariners had to offer more. Correa? He was never gonna come here. McMahon? Also strikes out a ton and was helped by playing in Coors Field. None of the available guys are just some magical panacea that will automatically net this team a WS title. This team has gotten as far as it did and is doing as well as they’re doing by investing in young, controllable talent that have the chance to improve. Not by chasing aging rentals just for the sake of doing something.
